Phillip was laying back on his bed, his headphones drowning out all other sounds. In his hand was his little hand held game. He was making a new high score. His room was lit by a lamp on his night stand.

“Come on…that’s it…”

If one took the time to look around they would notice several things. A stack of Murder/Mystery novels, a mess of different CDs and game cartridges, and beyond the pile, a torn open air vent.

Perhaps if he hadn’t had his CD player blasting, or been so absorbed in his game, he would have noticed the slight tugging on the bed sheet. Maybe he would have even noticed the small clawed hand that gripped the corner of his bed. He lost his game.

“Damn…” he started over again. A small white creature crawled onto his bed as he rolled over on his side.

Candy glared daggers at Gavin, her hands were chained to the table…her feet to the floor.

“It’s been awhile Candy…” Gavin smiled as he sat down in the chair on the other side of the table. “I wouldn’t try using that marvelous spit of yours on those chains, wouldn’t want it to soak through onto your wrists would you? No…I didn’t think so.”

“Burn in hell…”

“Now Candy…Is that anyway to treat your big brother?”

“Where’s the girl?”

“Safe for the moment.” Gavin stood and walked around the table and stood were Candy couldn’t see him. “So how are things with Nathan?”

Candy said nothing.

“Not in a talkative mood Eh? That’s ok...I think you’ll find I have enough to say for the both of us.” Gavin patted her shoulder.

“Where oh where to start?” He laughed. “How about we start with my beloved little Sister…Celeste.”

“I do believe the two of you have already met yes? Quiet the little Angel isn’t she? OH how looks can deceive.” Gavin circled the table like a wolf eyeing its prey hungrily. “What if I told you that you weren’t Nathan’s last Experiment, true you were his last finished accomplishment, but when he left, he couldn’t bring himself to destroy his other child, he left Celeste here. Well as you can assume the facility was quiet baffled, no one knew exactly how to…wake her up. It wasn’t till about six months ago our little Celeste came to life. Miraculously, she did it herself. Imagine, after all these years, she woke HERSELF up.”

Candy did well to hide to shock. Nathan had created another…

“Oh Candy…if only you knew the extent of her powers…She makes you and I look like rough drafts. So strong…She is going to be the one to help us control the Ghosts, and with that power we will begin the world anew.

“Is that why the ghosts want her dead?”

“Its true…they have become somewhat…aggressive towards her…but nothing she can’t handle”

“Maybe nothing she can’t control here, but what about out there in the real world, where there aren’t guards waiting to step in if she is over powered?”

“Well…then she has you to protect her doesn’t she? I was so distraught when she ran away, but I think things have worked out very well. Oh yes I know that you have her, you and your little friends are harboring the end of all mankind. How does that feel sister dearest? Does it hurt?”

“She will never help you, she isn’t evil like you…”

“Sticks and stones sister…as powerful as she maybe, she is still a child, and a child can be easily manipulated.”

“I’m going to kill you…”

“Tough words…for one who is chained to a table.” Gavin leaned forward, she could feel his hot breath on her face. “We were going to use Celeste to kill you, but I think I’ll save her the trouble and do it myself.”

“Not going to try to convince me to join your cause?” Candy raised a brow.

“Now Candy, we both know that you can’t be trusted, as much as I would love you by my side, you’re too big of a risk.” Gavin took off his gloves.

Angela pounded on the door with her fists.

“LET ME OUT!” she screamed, her throat was dry and scratchy, her fists bruised. She slumped to the floor. She was locked in a laboratory with 5 inactive Ghosts floating in tanks, the yellow light emitted from them was the only light she had. Half scared to death that they would come to life, and half scared that they wouldn’t, and she would be left at Gavin’s mercy.

She was glad they didn’t search her when they took her, maybe they figured she wasn’t much of a threat. At least, at least, she still had her taser gun.

The milky fluid in the tanks were too thick to see through. She pulled her knees up to her chest.

‘Someone will save me right…that’s the way its supposed to be isn’t it? Good triumphs over evil and all that…I’m not going to die here…’

A twisted face, a mix between a human and a ghost plastered itself against the glass and let out a deafening scream. Angela screamed and jumped to her feet and began to pound on the door.

“HELP! LET ME OUT! PLEASE! CANDY!!!”

A tap came from the security room door.

“Yeah?” the man in front of the monitors called.

Meryn stepped in the door and gave the man a smile.

“Hey Hank, it’s just me, I’m going to go get some chow…I have a feeling I’m going to end up pulling a double. You want me to pick up something for you?”

“Uhhh…where you going?”

A dark figure ran past the monitors, it went unnoticed.

“Chinese, that little place on King Street that just opened.”

“Sweet, pick me up a couple egg rolls? Maybe some of that shrimp fried rice?” The man dug out his billfold and handed her a twenty.

“Thanks Meryn…”

“No prob…I’ll be back in a bit.” Meryn turned to leave.

“OK” Hank smiled and went back to watching the monitors, he sipped on his coffee.

Lol anyway, what I love about this chapter is it puts everyopne in mortal danger...put doesnt tell you what happens next ~is the root of all thats evil~
