A/N: I had to start this chapter all over cause my computer deleted it randomly, otherwise it would have been up sooner. Any who I told myself that I wouldn’t do another song story but there was nothing about a song chapter so here is my song chapter for St. Luke’s. I do not own any lyrics (unless otherwise noted) I hope that this chapter is up to par with the rest of the story and that you will hit the lovely review button. Thank you
The week went by and Thursday came not soon enough. It was like life had slowed down to torment the entire school. All classes had been canceled for Friday so that teachers wouldn’t have to deal with ‘sick’ students. Every one was skiving classes and planning costumes. Anna sat in the lonely sewing shop in the basement of the school. The room had worktables and sewing machines as well as buttons, fabric and just about anything you would need to make a killer costume.
Anna was avoiding all human contact that day because as much as she hated to admit it, she had already chosen her husband. She felt awful that she knew she wouldn’t chose James but it wouldn’t happen. She was glad that rarely anyone came down here. She had brought her guitar and her CD player. She tuned the instrument and began to sing one of her favorite songs. As much as she denied liking country music the song she sang was one that just seemed to fit. As she sang she closed her eyes and felt the vibrations of the strings through her entire body. She let the song play inside of her head and she sang.
It was so easy
We were so young
It’s only natural
To come undone
And at the evening
Before the rise of the sun
You’re coming with me; you’re coming with me
If this is the end
I don’t want to know this time
If this is the end
I don’t want to go this time
The music climaxed inside her head and she never heard him enter. He sat and watched her, singing, playing, being one with a song that captured her soul for the moment. He couldn’t bring himself to speak as she stared a new song. Her eyes didn’t open and she couldn’t sense him as he sat in awe.
If I had just one
Tear running down your cheek
Maybe I could cope
Maybe I’d get some sleep
If I had just one
Moment at your expense
Maybe all my misery
Would be well spent
Could you cry a little
Lie just a little
Pretend that you’re feeling a little more pain
I gave, now I’m wanting something in return
So cry just a little for me
Won’t you cry a little
For me
Anna finished the second song and stayed motionless for a few moments. She was completely unaware of his presence. She sighed and said “Only for you, Alex.”
“You wouldn’t play for me?” he asked sounding a little hurt.
Anna’s eyes flew open and she stared at him. “Hey James.” She desperately racked her brains for something to say “How long have you been sitting there?” way lame she knew it, but she was curious.
“Long enough to hear the tribute to your dear Alex.” He said standing and walking over to her. She set her guitar aside and he sat down next to her. “Maybe you should sing tomorrow.”
Anna couldn’t help it, she laughed “Yeah and get booed off the stage. No thank you.”
James didn’t laugh with her “You’re really good.” He was staring at her and she stopped laughing. “You should. It may not be what a lot of people listen to but its still very beautiful.”
“Thank you.” She blushed.
Silence folded around them and they looked to their own thoughts for something to say. James was thinking about the lame compliment that he had just given her. ‘Beautiful? That wasn’t even close to what I felt hearing her sing. God I am such a mess around her.’
Anna was thinking ‘He thinks I’m a good singer? Please, he must be lying, I know I’m not that great. Here we are alone down here and all he can think of is my singing voice, man I must be awful.’
They sat there for a few more seconds and then looked at one another. “Do you have a date for the dance tomorrow?” he asked.
“Umm yeah. Alex asked me a while ago.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah.”
“Will you save me a dance? I mean if it’s okay with Alex.”
“Yeah I could do that. Maybe I’ll save you two or three.” They both laughed and she looked at him. “Why did you chose me out of the entire school?” she asked suddenly feeling brave.
“I thought you of all people would be accepted by my mother. She was a lot like you when she was here at St. Luke’s, quite, shy, reserved, a total knockout but no confidence.” He blushed at realizing that he had just said that out loud.
“But I am not a knock out.”
“You’re modest. It reminds her of herself. I thought that you of all people she would accept I guess not. The girl I love is a freshman. My mother would have been nasty to the girl, but I thought you…”
“She was nasty to me.”
“She was drunk.”
“And rude.”
“But not sober therefore she can’t have control over her actions.”
“Not the point.”
“The point completely.”
“She called me stupid because I am not used to being talked down to.”
“I’m sorry you had to see her like that.”
“Yeah me too.”
“Will it hurt my chances with you at all?”
“It might.” She said it jestingly, but it was obvious she had hurt him.
“I’ll make it up to you.”
“Will you now?”
“Yes.”
“How?”
“Can I kiss you?” he didn’t wait for her to respond. He cupped her face and kissed her gently on the lips. He didn’t ask for entrance, he didn’t even ask her to kiss back. He was warm and sweet against her lips. He pulled away reluctantly after a moment or two and she smiled.
“See you at the dance.” He said huskily and walked out.
Friday morning came and Anna slept until the noise was too much. The girls were talking about who was going with who to the dance and none of them were being quiet about it. She growled at them but decided to get up. She got dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. She wandered down to the dinning hall and poked at a soggy looking waffle. She ate about two bites before grabbing an apple and heading for the library.
The silence in the library calmed her nerves. She found a mystery thriller and sat down in a squishy chair. (A/N: And I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine! He shall be my Squishy! Oh sorry guys I had to say it. Finding Nemo ROCKS!) Anna ended up spending most of the day in the library listening to the storm rage and reading the books. She looked down at her watch at one point and had to force herself to put down the book. It was only another hour until Alex would come and get her.
She ran into the dorm and was greeted by the pop music of the ‘great’ Britney Spears. The pop music blared and rumbled. Anna cringed and rummaged through her trunk. ‘Where is it? I know its here, but where?’ she thought. She pulled her CDs out of her trunk and smiled as she put the CD in the stereo. She paused the music before the speakers began to blare. She turned the sound all the way up and traveled to the fourth track. The soft music started and was followed by a loud guitar. Anna began to sing hauntingly above the music.
You love the way I look at you
While taking pleasure in the awful things you put me through
You take away if I give in
My life, my pride is broken
You like to think you’re never wrong
(You live what you learn)
You have to act like you’re someone
(You live what you learn)
You want someone to hurt like you
(You live what you learn)
You want to share what you’ve been through
(You live what you learn)
The girls turned off their god-awful music and stared at her. The way she was dancing was disturbing them and they gaped at her. She was not only singing the ‘Goth’ music but she was dancing like they wished they knew how. She stopped after the song ended and she turned off the stereo. She smiled coyly at them and took her costume into the bathroom.
She could hear them talking about it. “Who would have guessed?” “Little miss innocent listens to devil music?” “Where did she get such obnoxious music from?” “Do you think she’ll play it all the time now?” “How annoying.” “She just started blaring that shit, I mean at least we voted on what to listen to. She just walked right in and started blaring that crap.” “How depressing. She might end up killing herself before the year is over.”
She turned on the shower to drown out the mindless chatter and took a fast one. She dried her hair and pulled it back into a fancy bun, but left a few long pieces out. She curled them and slicked back the wisps with gel. She did her make up with the utmost care. Dark eyeliner and eyeshadow were the most difficult. She put on dark brown lipstick and light blush and she was done. Anna was glad she had done the dark maroon nail polish on her long nails earlier that week. She stared momentarily at her costume and thought for a moment it wouldn’t be a good idea.
The thought of the shock she would receive overrode everything else. She put on the soil brown corset. The wine colored roses that traveled up the back didn’t bother her. The corset was suede. Sighing at her reflection she took up the khakis she had. They were low slung and had the same roses traveling up the sides. She put on the sling back brown heels and stood, rather unsteadily in front of the mirror so she could put in her fake teeth. She trailed fake blood from the corner of her mouth and grabbed the brown leather jacket that she had had for a year. The worn lining felt soft and comforting against her.
She walked out into the room and found that there was no one there. She was grateful. The look suited her but that would not soften the blow that would shock the entire school. She waited patiently on the bed for a few seconds before hearing a knock on the door. “Anna are you decent? Or ready?”
“Come on in Alex.” She faced away from him.
“Are you going to show me?”
She turned slowly and looked at him. He was dressed in all black. The shirt was old fashioned with lace and the boots were for hunting or something. The pants were plain jeans. He had in his fake teeth too. He looked like a real Puerto Rican vampire.
“You look nice to.” He said as if reading her mind.
“I didn’t mean to stare.”
“No go ahead. As long as you don’t mind me returning the favor.”
“So what does it look like downstairs?”
“Like the club med experience.”
“Club Med?”
“Yeah, as in the night club at the Strand.”
“Never been there.”
“Oh yeah. You’re only sixteen.” He said as if it had just hit him. “Shall we go then madam?”
“Sir, lets rock.” She took ginger hold of his arm and he smiled sweetly at her.
“Lets go then.” He pulled her down to the main staircase and she gasped. The entire front entrance was covered in black and colored stobe lights. Lasers and fog covered the hall so it was practically a club. Music boomed against straining speakers. One of Anna’s favorite songs banged into her. Lala by Ashlee Simpson boomed against her. The bass was so heavy it almost punched you in the stomach. A distilled demon stirred inside of her when she heard the teen girl singing.
You can throw me like a lineman
I like it better when it hurts
Anna’s body was intoxicated with the music. She grabbed Alex’s hand and yanked him on the dance floor. Her body bumped and grinded expertly to the rhythm. The dam that she had built up had broken. The music took over and she released all control over her body. She laughed when the song ended and Alex looked at her in surprise.
“Where did you learn to do that?” he asked over the beginning of the next song.
“Here and there.” She shouted dancing against him and moving into his body.
The dance progressed and more than a few guys had asked Anna to dance. Each time Alex growled and Anna turned them down nicely. Then about eleven the kareokee stared. While dancing someone tapped her shoulder. She turned to see James. She stared at him for a moment before recognizing him. He was dressed as a phantom of the opera. He had the part down.
“My lady would you grace us with a song?” he yelled above the pounding music.
“I don’t know.” She said honestly.
“Go on. Sing for me.” Alex said looking at her.
“Where did you…”
“Profile.”
James grabbed her hand and yanked her up toward the stage. He grabbed a mike. “Ladies and gentlemen, witches and warlocks, ghosts and ghouls, I would like to present a very special vampire, who has been singing for centuries.” He paused wrapping an arm around her she smiled shyly. “Please put your hands and claws together for Anna Vaughn.”
The crowd clapped and she smiled broader and took the mike rather reluctantly. “Umm this is one of my favorite songs. I don’t think that many of you have heard it, but its beautiful.” The piano began and she cleared her throat.
When the lights go down
He’ll be filling a pan with a broom in his hand
In some drive across town
He’ll be wiping the bar and mopping the floor
Counting his tips and locking the door
Wrestling the devil that tells him to pour another round
When the lights go down
She\'ll be callin’ her friends from her Mercedes Benz
But it\'s too late now
They were there for the fame, the flash, and the thrill
The drop of the name, the parties, the pills
As another star falls from the Hollywood hills without a sound
When the lights go down
And there\'s nothing left to be
When the lights go down
And the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
You wonder what you\'re made of well, we all find out
When the lights go down
The crowd was either slow dancing or watching her. She could feel four pairs of eyes on her. James, the sweet one who could learn to love her. Jason Wise, the headmaster who had stolen her innocence and stood up for her when her parents were being wretched during their meeting. Aaron, who wanted to marry her so that he could have a trophy wife, he would use her and keep her for his use. Then there was her love, Alex. The wonderful guy who wasn’t going to force her, she loved him, and she hadn’t even been intimate.
At the end of the day when this game that I play
Has gone another round
As I lay there alone on this big empty bed
With nothing but thoughts of you in my head
I think of the things that I wish I had said.
When you were still around.
Anna took the chance and looked at Alex. He was staring at her rather intently. His eyes swallowed her and she stared at him. His brown eyes did not blink as he stared at her. Her voice flowed evenly through the hall. The music matched her pitch and it seemed that there could be an easy life. She closed her eyes to keep from crying. One more moment staring into his eyes and singing to him and the tears would start flowing.
When the lights go down, yeah
And there\'s nothing left to be
When the lights go down
And the truth is all you see
And I wonder if all my life\'s about the sum
Of all my fears and all my doubts
Yeah, when the lights go down.
There was no chance in hell, if her mother had anything to say about it, and she would, Anna would not be marrying Alex. Anna wanted more than anything to marry Alex.
When the lights go down, ooh
And there\'s nothing left to be
When the light go down, yeah
And the truth is all you see
When you feel that hole inside your soul
You wonder what you’re made of
Well we all find out
When the lights go down
Ooh, when the lights go down
The music ended and the crowd burst into applause. There were several whistles and yells for encores. She bowed and put the mike back on the stand and said thank you. She walked down the stairs and walked right into someone.
“Oh sorry.” She mumbled against the thrumming music and violent bass.
“No you’re not even sorry yet, kid.”
Anna turned to see a very disgruntled looking Imani. She looked wicked in the black light and lasers that flashed across her face. “Imani.” She turned and began to fight her way through the crowd. She found Aaron and began to dance rather provocatively with him. She smiled and grinded into him.
“I knew you couldn’t resist dancing with me. You’ve been watching me all night.” He commented.
It wasn’t a lie. She had noticed how well he had danced and how much she found herself wishing that he would ask her to dance. “So?” she grinded harder. Her body lost to the techno beat and violent bass.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you could dance?”
“It was in my profile that I was a rave girl at my other school.”
An arm grabbed her as the song ended and she saw Alex. He looked upset and slightly angry. He pulled her close as another song started. “I love this song.” She screamed to no one. “Tell me why. Do we build castles in the sky?” she sang along. She danced with him and as the song grew more frantic so did their dancing. A crowd was gathering to watch them and they didn’t even notice.
People cheered and rooted them on. At the end of the song he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her hard. The people didn’t even matter. He needed her and at this point no wasn’t an option. It would be her choice and she certainly wasn’t complaining. They stood there the center of attention, making out.
Anna couldn’t breathe. He was demanding her affection, her kisses, and her soul. He let her lips go as another song started and he sang along. The song was slow and tormenting them both. It wrapped itself around them and drew them closer. The haunting lyrics and piano along with the beat was beautiful in a way that moved them both and found inside of them a common awakening.
This is my December this is my time of the year
This is my December this is all so clear
This is my December this is my snow covered home
This is my December this is me alone
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things I said to make you feel like that
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel like there was something I missed
And I
Take back all the things i said to you
And I\'d..
Give it all away just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away to have someone to come home to
She could feel his breath on her sweat-covered skin. She didn’t mind and he seemed to be drinking her in. Her emotions were going haywire. She couldn’t think straight. It was as if he were seducing her on the dance floor. The taunting lyrics that he was singing to her were giving her chills, despite the heat from dancing.
This is my December these are my snow-covered trees
This is me pretending this is all I need
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel like there was something i missed
And I
Take back the things I said to make you feel that
And I
Just wish that I didn’t feel like there was something i missed
And I
Take back all the things I said to you
And I\'d..
Give it all away just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away to have someone to come home to
She couldn’t learn to feel all this in such a short amount of time. Her heart was searching for a reason to love, to trust, a complete safe haven. She breathed him in. His seduction was working. She wasn’t fighting to control the urges. She was fighting to control her discretion.
This is my December this is my time of the year
This is my December this is all so clear
He looked down at her and saw it in her eyes. She wanted it. This time she was willing. He took her hand and lead her away from the dance floor.
Give it all away just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away to have someone to come home to
Give it all away just to have somewhere to go to
Give it all away to have someone to come home to
Every one was still at the dance when they arrived at his room. He closed the door and locked it. He turned to her. She stood smiling at him. It was not seductive but it drove him wild. He took her to his bed and laid her down on her back. He kissed her, softly then harder. He couldn’t get enough. This was his high.
“Turn over.” He whispered.
She looked at him questioningly, but did as she was told. He found the ribbon that tied the corset. He gently pulled it with his teeth. She felt so small under him. She wanted the curtains closed, but did not have the courage to ask him to close them. Lightning flashed across the sky and she shivered.
Alex pulled off the corset and kissed along her shoulder blades, down her back and then back up. He kissed her neck and tickled her with his breath. He noticed the light bruises on her back and he kissed them “So tender.” He kissed each one “Turn over, let me see you.”
She did, slowly and hesitantly, she turned over to show him her body. He stared down at the perfect angel. She was not as skinny as most though she definitely wasn’t heavy. She had nice sized breasts. “Why do you blush?”
“Well…”
“You shouldn’t.” he commanded kissing in between the mounds “You’re beautiful.” He explored her body slowly, memorizing every crevasse and every curve. She giggled when he tickled her and moaned at every soft spot.
“You still have your clothes on.” She said sitting up and kissing him. “Perhaps we should do something about that.” She took her time unbuttoning his shirt, she knew it was killing him to wait. “You have a handsome body.” She said kissing him again once the shirt had been dealt with.
“Yours isn’t so bad either.” He smiled. “Lay down. I want to treat you right.” They moved up to where the pillows were. The shoes and jeans were dealt with. The underwear was dealt with. Alex lay over her positioned to enter and he stopped. “Are you sure?” he was giving her an out. “Say the word and I will walk away.”
“Shut up and kiss me.” she growled at him.
He did. He moved slowly and awkwardly at first. She began to rock with him. He was in heaven. She was moaning for him and meeting his thrusts. Her eyes never left his and she kissed her. Over and over again he would say her name and would ravish her mouth.
He kissed her softly, then harder, she couldn’t breathe or think. All that mattered was the growing light inside her belly. It was growing. White lights danced and she couldn’t for the life of her tear her eyes from his. It seemed all the while neither of them blinked. They watched each other.
The white light reached a point of no return and it exploded inside of her head. She screamed his name and the light filled her mind. She didn’t know if her eyes were open or not, but she hoped they were. She hoped that Alex had seen her passion. The passion that had burned away all reason and had let her into this beautiful mess she was in.
\"Oh Alex.\" she panted, her nails drawing lines of blood down his back.
Alex didn\'t mind though. It only enhanced the pleasure building in his groin. He didn’t care that he had slept with dozens of other girls. It didn’t matter that they had told him what a god he was in bed. He hoped that Anna couldn’t walk for a week. He wanted her to scream and pounce on him every time she saw him. He wanted her to blush and smile when she passed him in the halls. He wanted to ravish her body and soul. Her moans were giving him a high. The adrenaline was searing like fire in his viens, he pumped harder, faster.
‘Everyone will know who she slept with.’ A voice warned. It only made him nip harder at her neck. He was kissing her in a way that no one he had ever kissed had experienced. He was letting a passion that had never come to him, take over. Always when he had fucked another girl he wanted them to walk away saying ‘wow’, but this was different. He didn’t want her to walk. He wanted the entire fucking world to know that Anna Katherine Vaughn was his.
Alex had heard Anna scream his name. He had felt her climax the walls around his penis contracted and he screamed. He was surprised to find how tight she was. He could not hold back for another moment. He spilled his seed into her. The light he had read in her eyes had been magic. They both found the perfect phrase: if heaven had a door, this was the entrance. He almost collapsed after his orgasm, but found himself rolling off to one side of Anna. He cuddled her, as he had done before. This was different though.
“Amor a partir del primer momento.” He purred in her ear as he felt her body mold into his. “Love as of the first moment. You and I were meant to be.” He kissed the back of her neck.
“You weren’t afraid of your feelings were you?”
“No I was afraid you didn’t feel the same way. I didn’t want to admit it then, but” he kissed the back of her neck again. “I think I can guess that you love me.”
“Only,” she hesitated “Only if you won’t hurt me. Only if you promise that you will always love me and that you wont leave.”
“Prometo.” He whispered feeling darkness edging into his mind “I promise, Anna Banana.”
