Your Worth A Million Smiles

At some where near dawn Theo became aware that something wasn’t right. He could hear something in his room that shouldn’t be there. At first he believed that it was simply a dream but he was dreaming of Alexis. Alexis on their wedding day, she was happy and her smile just made his heart explode in a thousand beams of the purest sunlight.. but what he sensed now was pure agony.

Opening his eyes he found himself still in the hotel room he had shared with Alexis the night before but instead of her being curved in his side as she had been when he fell asleep, she was now on the other side of the bed and she was throwing out her arms and moaning in such pain. Theo was sure only sounds like that would come from someone being tortured. Did he wake her from her nightmare? He couldn’t bear her making such a plea to escape from whatever was haunting her dreams so much. Reaching for her he received a back hander as once again she flung her arms out to ward off some un known evil.

‘Alexis, Angel wake up….’

‘No……Theo No……. Please don’t ………. Theo…………. No…….. Theo……….. Please………’

Alexis was dreaming of him doing something to hurt her. Surly she knew he never would do anything to harm her in any way shape or form. Why would her dreams portray hi8m in such a negative light. Theo couldn’t understand how her sub conscious could trick her in such a manner. He reached for her again. He had to wake her and find out what was happening in that mind of hers.

‘Alexis. Please wake up. It’s just a dream. Angel please.’

Her eyes shot open. It was only now he could see the tear tracks down her face. Her face looked like she had been stabbed repeatedly. The pain there scared him.

‘Theo………. But you were!! What happened?’

‘I was going to ask you the same thing. I woke to find you in distress. What was your dream about?’

‘I don’t want to talk about it. Will you hold me?’

‘Any time angel. Are you sure though/ you were saying my name in your sleep and not in a good way it almost sounded like I hurting you in your dream.’

‘You were!!!!!!’

‘But you know I would never…….’

‘No you were hurting me physically. You left me ‘
Theo pulled her across his chest. He kissed her hair then looked down into her eys. He wiped the tears from her eyes and then si9mply looked at her.

‘Angel I could never do that to you. Nothing in the world would ever make me leave you unless it was you yourself who wanted me to go.’

‘I would never want that.’

‘Then you have nothing to worry about. I’m always going to be here for you. Always..’

Theo pulled her closer.

‘Let’s try and get some more sleep. OK?’

‘Yes. I’m so sorry I woke you.’

‘Don’t worry about it angel. I’m here anytime you need me. No matter what the time or place.’

‘I love you………’

Theo stared down at her. Had she really just said what he thought she had? He wouldn’t question it now. Or make a response. They both needed sleep and it was a high charged emotional situation. But he did love her.

Alexis curled further in Theo’s side. Had she really mentioned the L word. Maybe it was a bit early but with her dream and everything she wasn’t quite sure what she was thinking and it had just fallen out of her mouth. She didn’t regret saying it. Though it had hurt slightly that he had made a little to reciprocate her feelings.

Theo knew he should say something. After everything that had happened he should just tell her how he feels. Damn. Damn. Damn. But he had wanted the moment to be perfect when he finally confided to her exactly how far his feelings for her had gone. Now the moment had passed where he could return her statement without it sound ding like he ‘had’ to say it.

‘I’m sorry again for waking you. Maybe I should go to another room so I don’t bother you again.’

Alexis was already moving towards the edge of the bed. Theo knew he had to stop her before she got completely the wrong idea.

‘Angel please don’t leave me. I’m sorry that I didn’t respond straight away to your confession. I honestly do feel the same. I think I feel in love with you a few days after we began talking on the internet. I just wanted the first time I actually said those words to you to be different. But to know that you feel the same about me is more then I could ever have dreamed of.’

‘Theo you don’t have to say that just to save my feelings……..’

‘I’m not angel I do love you. Now come here and let me hold you through the rest of our night together. If you left this bed I would have to follow after you. Now I have you in my life I’m not giving you up that easily.’

She returned to his arms. Theo kissed her hair then tilted her face to him and claimed her lips. This was the mark of a man in love. His kiss sent shock waves through her.

‘Now do you believe me?’

‘Yes. I love you.’

‘I love you too!’
