“Huh, I wonder what’s happening?”Eric’s eyes narrowed as we stepped up to the alley entrance. I could hear the scuffling too, and smelled something even more disturbing. Yet I found myself moving forward.
“Ferd!” I heard Eric calling me, but I suddenly found myself in total darkness. All the streetlights seemed to have sputtered out at once and I could see anyone around me. Shit. The smell enveloping me was hideous. Suddenly, I was terrified.
Something slick and horribly strong grabbed me. I tried to scream, but my consciousness began to fade. My last thoughts were that I should’ve listened to my paranoid Mother for once, because whatever had been snatching furries had found me, and it wasn’t letting go. Then everything went black.
