Week 5
“What the fuck Angie, how much weight do these things have?” Ellie contorted her face to different forms as Angie chuckled, “Don't be a wimp come on, they're only 5 pounds.”
Angie had started wrapping ankle weight on Ellie's ankles. Ellie was flat on her back trying to lift her leg up.
“Is this even on the regime?” Ellie complained as she slowly set her foot down and move on to the next one.
“Are you questioning my methods?” Angie feigned shock as she wrote down on her clip board the repetition Ellie was on.
“I'm- I'm Questioning your existence at this moment you bitch,” Ellie gasped as she let her foot drop. She couldn't do it anymore.
“Testy aren't we, is someone not getting some.” Angie tsk as she grabbed Ellie's hand and helped her sit up.
Ellie leaned over as she placed a hand on the weight on her ankle.
“You cunt these are ten pounds, the hell.” Ellie glared at Angie as she took a swing at her but Angie merely side stepped.
“Oh just you wait till I can walk I'm gonna kick your ass.” Ellie undid the velcro strap and took off the weights.
“That's fine but once your walking my job is done,” Angie chuckled as Ellie wiped away the sweat that accumulated on her brow.
“Everything ok?” Mel asked as she peeked into the room to notice Ellie on the floor flushed red.
“Just peachy,” Angie replied as she leaned next to the door way and showed her notes to Mel.
Ellie couldn't help the tinge of jealousy she felt as Angie leaned in and whispered in her ear. Mel turned red as she chuckled and shook her head.
Mel grabbed the clipboard and signed something. Ellie couldn't quite tell what the exchange was about.
“All right bath time,” Angie raised her eyebrows as she turned to see Ellie staring at Mel. Mel was oblivious as she was reading the papers Angie had just handed to her.
“Come on, you two are I swear the most oblivious pair I have ever seen.” Ellie blushed as Mel shook her head. “what happened now?” she mumbled as she walked out of the room.
“Oh god,” Angie chuckled as she helped Ellie stand up. Ellie smiled as she was standing on her own two feet again but it quickly faded as her knees buckled. Angie quickly scooped her up.
“Not ready yet,” Angie murmured as they disappeared into the bathroom.
“We're here?” Mel said as she shut off the engine and undid her seat belt. She was about to open her door when Ellie grabbed her arm.
“wait,” Ellie said as she looked out the window. She was nervous, wait if she didn't recognize anyone, she didn't want to be put in an awkward spot.
“Look we'll go to John's office, he'll introduce himself, any questions you have about work or anything, he'll be happy to answer.” Mel placed her hand on Ellie's leg and squeeze gently trying to reassured her.
Ellie covered Mel's hand and rubbed her hand in gratitude, “Ok then lets get this over with.”
Mel stepped out of the car as she opened the back and took out Ellie's wheelchair. Ellie had opened her door already as she was swinging her legs outwards.
Ellie just nodded as Mel helped her onto the chair.
They were greeted at the door by John, he was tall close to six feet tall, dark brown hair cut short, he was some what bulky build and a goatee adorned his face. His blue eyes shone brightly as he bent down to hug Ellie.
“Oh I'm so glad to see your okay, we were worried when we heard the news about the crash.”
Ellie smiled politely as she hugged him back.
John stood up as he opened the door for them. “Everyone else is out for lunch, I gave them an extra hour. I didn't want to bombard you with things.”
Ellie sighed feeling relief, “thanks John,” Mel said as she shook his hand.
“Well then,” he clapped his hands together, “Let go over here, I still have your office intact.” John walked down the row of desk as he reached a door at the end of the hallway.
Ellie scanned the room as Mel pushed her into the room. “this is your office,” John followed Ellie's gaze as she scanned the room.
There was a desk in the middle of the room, behind the desk was a row of file cabinets. There was a window, but the shades were down so little sunlight streamed in. On the desk there was a desktop and a laptop.
“there it is,” Ellie murmured as she rolled her self around the desk.
“There are somethings in the office storage that belongs to you. Like three boxes or so. If you want I can help Mel load them into your car.” John offered as he pointed in another direction.
Mel nodded as she bent close to Ellie, “We'll be back ok?”
Ellie nodded as she smiled at Mel and mouthed 'thank you,'
Ellie opened her laptop, but the screen was just black. She pushed the power button, but nothing.
“Dead battery,” she mumbled to herself as she opened the drawers on the desk and she found a planner.
Ellie skimmed through it and recognized her handwriting.
Ellie noticed the usual office type materials, 'those boxes,' she thought, 'I wonder what's in them'.
The door opened behind her, “That was quick,” Ellie said as she expected some witty remark from Mel but she was greeted with silence.
Ellie felt the hairs on the back of her neck stiffen as she turned around to see a woman with shiny black hair, in a well pressed suit. Her red lips quivered as she threw herself on Ellie. “Oh god I'm so glad your ok.” She whispered as she kissed Ellie's cheek.
“uh,” Ellie held her breath as her brain quickly tried to decipher who this woman was.
She kneel in front of Ellie and took her hands in hers. Ellie immediately notice how soft they were, and it triggered something. She knew this woman alright. She definitely knew this woman, but the question was, how deeply did she know this woman, and she was afraid of that.
“I tried calling the hospital but they wouldn't give me any information since you still have Melissa as your power of attorney and your mother, you were right. She is a pain she wouldn't divulge anything unless I told her who I was and I didn't want to start up any suspicious.”
“Oh okay,” was all that Ellie could manage to uttered as she felt a bit nauseous. So much information in under a minute.
Ellie was brought out of her confusion as she heard Mel and John approaching. The woman in front of her stood up and then gasped. It was too late, she had left a kiss mark on Ellie's cheek.
Mel walked into the room and noticed the new comer and then glanced at Ellie and noticed the lipstick on her face.
Mel raised an eyebrow at the stranger, and then back to Ellie.
“Oh Alexis, your back from Lunch early.” John said as he stood next to her. She nodded shyly as she refused to make eye contact with Mel.
“Alexis this is Ellie's partner Melissa,” Alexis was force to make eye contact and Alexis felt a shiver run down her spine as Mel simply smiled at her and shook her hand.
'we finally meet,' they both thought simultaneously.
Mel dished out a napkin she had in her pocket and silently handed it to Ellie. Ellie knew what it was for and she proceeded to clean her cheek.
“Ellie just came over to take her things to her house, she still has ways to go until shes fully recovered, but we'll wait for ya. Won't we Alexis?” John nudged her a little as she chuckled nervously as Ellie stared at her with a confused look.
Alexis just nodded and wished she had more time to talk to Ellie alone, but Mel's presence actually petrified her. She really wasn't a nervous person, and even though Mel did not look intimidating. There was something about her that made Alexis feel uncomfortable, aside the fact the she had an affair with her wife, who was still in technical terms married.
“We should be on our way then,” Mel spoke calmly as Ellie agreed. She needed fresh air, she needed to get out of there. What ever it was, the presence of both Mel and Alexis together made her feel like an impeding bomb was about to go off.
“Well anything you need,” John led the way as he looked back and smiled at the three woman behind him. “Don't hesitate to contact me,” John held the door open as Mel and Ellie made their way out.
“Ok then, thanks again and we'll talk later,” Mel said as she waved bye, Ellie craned her neck to look back to see John grab Alexis's arm and dragged her in.
Ellie took a deep breath as Mel opened the car door and stood there. “are you okay?” Mel asked as she crouched down and rubbed her thumb on Ellie's cheek.
“I think so,” Ellie lied as she felt an odd feeling of guilt as Mel rubbed her thumb up and down her cheek.
“Hey,” Mel cupped Ellie's face and Ellie couldn't help but stared deeply into her eyes.
“Deep breaths,”
June 6, 1999 (Sunday)
“Deep breaths,” I said as Mel tried her best to comply with my request.
“relax,” I whispered in her ear, currently I was straddling her her waist as she laid on her stomach. She was in a sports bra as I could see her back was slightly purple in certain spots. She took a deep ragged breath as I place the palm of my hand on her lower back. She hissed as I quickly pulled away.
“What did we learn?” I mocked as I pushed on her lower back gently with my palm. She hissed again as she manage to uttered a curse word.
“Hey it wasn't my fault, I was carrying the correct amount of boxes that stupid idiot they hired recently knocked me into the wall furnace. I was fucking lucky that shit wasn't on.”
I worked on her lower back, massaging it, her hissing became less as I moved up her back. I heard her sigh in content.
“This feel good?” I asked as she just moaned a little.
I couldn't help but laugh, I checked my watch as I realized it was close to midnight.
“I have my last final tomorrow,” I commented as I found the heat patch that I had brought over. I peeled the plastic off of it and place it on her lower back.
“Really well good luck on that, then shouldn't you be going to sleep. It's late now.”
I got off her as I sat down and she turned around and laid flat on her back as she took a deep breath. She closed her eyes as I laid next to her and started to run my hand around her stomach.
I still could not explain to myself, how bold I was with her. There was no hesitation, when it came to flirting.
After April we set up a new schedule to meet, unfortunately that schedule was shot when Mel got an extra day of work on Wednesdays too.
So ultimately we had to settle on late night meetings which of course hurt the both of us, since we had early morning classes.
“Hey Ellie,” I looked up to see Mel still with her eyes close. “Yes?” I asked as I felt a yawn coming. I tried stifling it by covering my mouth but it was useless.
I closed my eyes also as I felt Mel twitch a little. “Are you going back home for the summer?” she whispered.
“Yeah,” I mumbled as I realized once again we had a hurdle, “Ok then,” was all she said. I didn't replied and once again we were leaving things unspoken.
(A/N: Guess whose coming back to interfere?)
Enjoy.
