He looked down at her. “Uhum…” a very long breath escaped between his clenched teeth as he collapsed onto the snow. She gasped as he went down and scrambled towards him. He had landed on his side and she saw the white snow now red with his blood. She yanked his shirt up and saw the wounds were deep, no doubt done by the Minotaur horns. Placing one hand on the wound, she chanted healing words while pulling open her bag with the other. Grabbing herbs she placed them over the cuts, her hands covered with his blood. The wounds stopped oozing blood but still the healing was slow. She yelled for help, some villager came out to see, but started back once they saw the beast.
"So help me if you do not help me get him inside I will call on Freya herself and level this village. It will be erased."
She glared at them. They looked at each other then the men finally came forward to move him. It took several of them to lift the dead weight of the Werewolf. Struggling through the snow they did manage to get him into the inn. Where the owner met them
“Don’t take that beast in here” he demanded.
Her shoulder hurt, she was cold and covered in blood. She was in no mood. She gave the man a nasty look.
"He saved your town more than once and me. Your village builds him a boat but when he is harmed you turn him out. That is unacceptable."
“Do you see a ship in here? I don’t want that beast in here”
"Too bad, he stays or else we will have a problem that will go higher than you could ever imagine." She starred him down.
“Now look here young lady…” he began as he stood his ground.
Flames lit in her palms.
"Do not make me do something we both may regret. It will be hard to survive without a business to run." glancing at the others "or a village. I will not have this man harmed further by your ignorance."
The owner and others backed off and ran out of the doors.
"Thought so."
Turning back to Christian, she prepared bandages and wrapped his wounds.
One of the bar maidens came thru the door, “What is that? ”
"Someone who’s badly injured. Bring some mead and food. NOW!"
She jumped and ran off to get the order.
Pouring water from a pitcher she washed her hands, using a cloth wiped his face.
"Can you hear me?”
“Yes” he whispered.
She rubbed his pointed ears lightly.
"You need to change back into human form. It will help heal you and make the people here not so nervous. I don’t like threatening people. Do you think you can? "
He looked at her. He was so tired. He closed his eyes and tried to change. But the wounds were painful. His pain filled howl filled the room. As he changed the howl changed in to a scream of pain, but he was too weak and returned to his wolf state.
She winced at his pain and placed her hands over the wounds, speaking soothing words.
"I am sorry."
“For what?” he sighed in pain.
"You saved me and got harmed because of it." She peaked under the bandages. "It’s healing well."
“Don’t mention it”
"I have mead and food coming." Alight knock announces its arrival. She stood and went to the door collecting the tray from the maid then shutting the door in her face.
"Here," Setting it down, she poured some drink. “drink up.”
“That wasn’t very nice of you” he looked at the door.
"She was being a snoop. I don’t like snoops who make up stories to make themselves popular. Now drink." Putting the cup to his lips.
He drank some of it and was interrupted when the door opened with a bang. A large man stood at the door with a rune engraved sword in his hand. His blond hair was tied back into a long braid, steel blue eyes glared in anger and a thin long beard hung from his chin.
She turned quickly, the drink spilling to the floor. She put herself between the intruder and him. "How dare you. Get out." She demanded
The man pointed the sword at her. “Step aside girl. This beast will no longer torment this land”
"No, He is protected by the goddess Freya herself. I am her handmaid harm him and hell will rain on you."
“I said step aside!” the large man said. He was very close to the Vikings size.
"I have tried to be very nice today, but people continue to test me and I am running out of patients" Her hands starting to take on a blue glow. "I do not lose my temper often but I am so close to doing so right now." The window blew open, snow and wind flew into the room, her hair was whipped around her head. "You wish to show your strength, then show it."
The large man looked down on the woman. “Step out of the way little girl or I will run you threw as well. I have been tracking this beast for years and I won’t have some girl stop me from my prize”
"Little Girl?” She narrowed her eyes. "Alright, Goat boy. Bring it. I'm not afraid of you or your sword."
“Suite yourself” he thrusted the sword at her so it would only miss her by inches.
She jumped out of the way, but hurled a ball of energy at him as she did.
"Don’t touch him."
The Viking stood firm as he quickly deflected the ball of fire with the magical sword. Now that she had jumped out of the way, he had a clear path to the bed where his prize was.
“Bad move” he jumped at the bed with the sword held high.
"NO!"
Using all she had, she threw up a barrier around him and then jumped on the back of the intruder and bit him.
"I won’t let you."
The large man grabbed her by the hair and pulled her of his back. He held her there so she could see this beast die. She squirmed and clawed at his hands. With ease the sword passed the barrier as it glowed with energy. But then out of no were a massive paw grabbed his face and in turn held him up off the ground.
“Let her go” he growled in a low voice.
She held on to his wrist and kicked out with her leg, making contact with his knee.
"Don't your still hurt." She pleaded with Christian.
The Viking let go of her hair and tried to run the sword through the beast, but to his surprise was it as if he was trying to stab a rock, it didn’t even break the fur. She hit the floor and stumbled a bit. The beast let him go and pulled the woman behind him and looked down at the intruder, standing a good three heads over him and just over twice as wide as his opponent.
She mentally slapped herself, forgetting weapons couldn’t harm him. She backed away a bit and just watched the two men.
The large Viking looked the beast in the eyes, then at the sword. “I claimed this by right in our village, it was lost for many years and now that I have it I swore to slay the beast that killed its previous owner. The chieftain of my village”
She looked at the sword then the large ax the champion used. The runes where identical and she rolled her eyes.
"You cannot expect the sword to kill that whom once held it."
“Lies, this creature killed him” the Viking looked at the sword in his hand. The beast turned shifting back to his human form, again howling at the pain. Slowly he turned around again to show his face. The two Vikings looked at each other, the sword was dropped to the floor and the wielder knelt before him.
“By Odin, you are alive”
"So help me if you do not help me get him inside I will call on Freya herself and level this village. It will be erased."
