Antidote

Andrin paced back and forth in his throne room. He was thinking and worrying about Davis. He had returned home without Davis, instead he returned back to his court with a letter from him. “I am sorry.” Andrin read the letter in his head, remembering. “I am sorry, but I can no longer can be a part of your life anymore. Please understand that you will be the best without me. Please do not come and find me. All the best…Davis.”

Andrin shook his head over and over again, he could tell by the hand writing that the letter was from Davis. But it just didn’t make any sense. Davis had promised him that he wouldn’t run off again, so why did he. Thoughts filled his mind about why Davis might run off, and the biggest thought was about the King’s Meeting. He knew that they were part of their meeting, and thought about destroying their relationship. But since Davis was not present at the meeting, the topic was dropped, and they went on to the next topic at hand. He then returned home, and asked for his guards to search for his love. They had search for five days, but they came up with no luck. It had seemed that Davis had vanished from the face of the earth. As Andrin turned and paced back for the thousandth time, he turned as he saw his captain of the guard come into the chambers.

“Well?” Andrin asked, his voice almost booming as he demanded if they had found Davis yet.

“I am sorry, milord.” his captain bowed low. “But there has been no sigh of Davis Edwards anywhere.”

“That can’t be.” Andrin snapped, sitting up on his throne. “Did you check everywhere? The forests, the hills?”

“Yes, milord. We are checking everywhere, but we have not found him.”

“Then you are not looking hard enough!” Andrin yelled. He was frustrated with his guard, and he was frustrated about Davis. “Widen the search then.” he said after a though. He only as for his guards to check around both his and Davis’s kingdom. But he did not tell them to look out of the kingdoms. “I want you, and your men, to search over by Siletz, as well as all the neighboring countries to there. I am sure that Davis is still in this world. And I do not want to see you until you bring back Davis. Is that clear?”

“Yes, milord.” his captain bowed low again, and he was off.

Andrin sighed as he slumped into his throne. He was tired, but he didn’t want to sleep. He hadn’t slept for days, and he wasn’t going to sleep until Davis was safe and sound in his arms. ‘Davis where are you?’ he though, looking up. He sighed out as he saw Kadin come into the chambers after the guard. He too was helping to find Davis. He had all his own men looking for the boy, but they too had no luck.

“You look tired.” Kadin said, sitting at Andrin’s paws. “You should go and rest.”

“No. Not until Davis is found. I will not sleep alone.”

Kadin sighed. He hated how his friend was pushing himself too hard. He promised that he would find Davis, but that was easier said then done. “Why don’t you look yourself?” Kadin told him. Andrin gave him a nasty stare, and Kadin reworded what he said. “I mean, why don’t you look in the village. You are the only one who knows where he lives. Maybe you should look there.”

“The village?” Kadin nodded. Andrin sighed and thought about that. He did know where his family lived, and maybe he was right. Maybe Davis was back home. If he was, then he would sting Davis up by his toenails for ever leaving him. With a long sigh, Andrin got up from his throne, and headed back to his chambers to change into something suitable. If he was going to Davis’s home, then he wanted to look nice when would meet his mother.

Andrin raced over to the village, keeping the thought in his heart that Davis was going to be there. He was a million questions he had to ask him, starting with “Why did you leave me…again?” when he got to the village gates; he slowed down to a walk, and made his way up to Davis’s home. He gulped hard as he stood on the front steps of the house, and slowly raised his arm to knock. Once he did, he stepped back and waited for someone to answer the door. His heart race as he heard footsteps, and he held his breath as he watched the door swing inward.

“Can I help you?” Andrin frowned as Jeffery opened the door. He sighed as he came face to face with his enemy, but he put his feelings for Davis’s grandfather aside. “Oh, it’s you. You are not welcome here.” Jeffery yelled, recognizing the furry, and shutting the door in his face.

“Hay, wait!” Andrin yelled at him, propping the door open with his paw. “I just want to know if your grandson came back here.”

“That is none of your business. Now leave!”

“Father, who’s that?” Andrin heard a soft voice yelled from the back room. It sounded crack, and Andrin could tell that it was Davis’s mother.

“It’s no one.” Jeffery called. “Just some stupid dog begging for some scraps of food.”

Andrin was furious that Jeffery wouldn’t let him in, and he shoved the door in. “Out of my way, you old fool.” Andrin spat as Jeffery fell to the floor. He then went back into the room where the women’s voice was, and gasped at what he found.

“Oh, Andrin!” Mary cried out, jumping up from her chair as she saw the wolf.

Andrin paid no attention to her. All that he could see was Davis. He was bounded up in thick layers of blankets, and his face was pale. He ran over to his lover and saw he was sleeping. “Please don’t wake him!” Mary told him. But Andrin didn’t listen.

“Davis, Davis wake up.” he lightly slapped the boy’s face, who groaned out and slowly opened his eyes.

“Andrin?” Davis groaned, opening his eyes to find the furry standing over his bedside. He smiled at the wolf, but his smile was interrupted as he started to cough hard. Mary shoved Andrin out of the way, and slowly turned her son over. Andrin watched in horror as blood dripped from his lips, and he started to throw it up.

Mary held her son in her arms for a few moments before she laid him down again. “See what you did!” Andrin heard Jeffery say behind him.

“I didn’t do anything!” Andrin yelled, turning back to Davis’s grandfather. “I didn’t even now how this happened.”

“This happen because of you!” Jeffery snapped. “I knew if he ran off with you, he would end up like this. Your furries are all alike, killing off everybody that tried to befriend you.”

“I do not kill! I didn’t even do this. What happen to him anyway?” Andrin asked, still confused about why Davis was throwing up blood.

“The doctor says he was poisoned.” Mary replied in tears. “They can not do anything to save his life, there is no antidote. He is dying.”

“No.” Andrin gasped.

“Yes, and it’s your entire fault. Now all we have to do is make him feel comfortable.”

“What are they symptoms?” Andrin asked, kneeling next to Mary after a few minutes of silence.

“Vomiting blood, high fever, sweaty skin, loss of color in the skin, dark eyes. Um…shakes…”

“I can help.” Andrin interrupted her.

“WHAT?” both Jerry and Marry cried.

“I can help. There is an antidote. But only I have it. If you just let me go back to my chambers, I will get it.”

“No!” Jeffery yelled. “I will not put my hopes up in some half ass furry.”

“Dad!” Mary cried out.

“Come on, Mary. How do we even know that he has the antidote? We can’t trust him.”

“Well I do.” Marry said sternly. “I will do anything now to save my son. Even if it is to trust this furry.”

“Thank you, ma’am.” Andrin smiled, and then race out of the house.

“Did you find him?” Kadin asked once he Andrin retuned back.

“Yes.” Andrin said out of breath. “But I do not have that much time. I need the antidote to the poison our scientists created.”

Kadin nodded, and followed Andrin into his bed chambers. “Are you sure you want to use it?” he asked him, taking a small red vile out of a locked cabinet for him. “This is the only one you know.”

“Yes I know.” Andrin sighed. He was saving antidote for himself. The symptoms that Mary had described sounded like what his father and brother got when they died. It was Thallium poisoning, and if Andrin had gotten it while he was king, then his family line would stop. So the royal department of science created an antidote for the poison. They had originally created it for Ante, but he died just after it was made. So Andrin has had it locked up ever since that day. “Thank you.” he smiled at his friend, and then raced off back to Davis’s.

Kadin sighed as he closed the doors to the cabinet. As he walked back to his own home, he saw a shadowy figure loom in the shadows of the room. Can I help you sir?” he asked. But it did not answer. Instead, the figure leaped from the shadows and attacked him. Causing Kadin to fall unconscious to the floor.

“I see you’re back.” Jeffery spat as he saw Andrin race up the hill.

“Yes. And I brought the antidote with me.” He then took from his pocket the red vile and went back into the house.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Jeffery stopped him at the door.

“Let me pass old man.”

“Not a chance, you give me that vile and then be gone. Davis is going to stay here.”

“What! You can’t do that, you’re not his guardian. It’s his mother’s chose to let him stay or go.”

“His mother has fallen ill. She is in bed along with her son. So I am his guardian until she gets better.”

“What?”

Jeffery didn’t say anything else. He grabbed the antidote from Andrin’s hands and shut the door in the furry’s face, locking it as he did. Andrin tried to pound the door in, but he did not want to cause damage to their home, so he went around back. He found a window with a clear view of Davis’s room. He smiled weakly as he saw Davis still alive, but fading fast. He then looked over to the door where Mary came into the room, healthy as the last time he saw her. He growled low in his throat as he saw Jeffery come into the room with him. He hated that man more the ever now for lying to his face about his daughter. His smile returned though as Mary held the vile her father took from him in her hands, and slowly gave it to her son. He held his breath as Davis drank from the vile, coughing it up only one though as he drank. He sighed once the liquid was consumed, and then went back to the front porch and waited for the results.

Andrin stayed on Davis’s front steps for three days without any word from his mother or grandfather about his condition. He didn’t really want to knock on the door, but he had to know. However, he didn’t even know if they knew he was waiting. It seemed though they knew. Andrin had waked from an afternoon nap on the third day to find a plate of food. He wanted thank Mary for her hospitality, but he didn’t know if Jeffery would like him in the house. That night, a storm hit the village, leaving Andrin out in the ice and snow. As the snow fell through the sky, Mary watched the furry king from the kitchen window. She felt sad for him, and like a stray dog, she wanted to bring him inside. Finally, after ten minutes of watching the frozen rain fall, she couldn’t take it any longer, and ushered Andrin inside. Andrin thanked her for everything and asked how Davis was doing.

“He seems to be doing better.” Mary sighed, handing him a thick blanket and a cup of hot chocolate to warm him up. “Where did you get that antidote anyways?”

“Mmm…I had it ever since my family died. They too died from the same type of poison Davis has.”

“Oh, I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay.” Andrin sighed. My mom didn’t die from it though; she died of a broken heart. It was my father and brother who died from it.”

“That is just horrible. Was that antidote for you then?”

“It was, but I thought Davis needed it more then I do. I haven’t been poisoned…yet. Can I please go see Davis?”

“Sure.” Mary smiled, and Andrin made his way over to Davis’s room.

The furry smiled down at Davis. He was happy to know that the antidote was working now. He rested a hand over his lover’s head, and found that his fever was now gone. His skin was had somewhat returned to normal, and his sweat shakes had subsisted. Andrin wiped a tear from his eye, he was happy that he saved Davis in time. He then crawled into bed with the boy, and took a long lick out of his cheek as he settled down. He smiled as he pulled Davis in closer, and rested his head against Davis’s pillow for the night.

Davis woke the next morning then anybody else. His body ached as he got up, but he managed to sit straight up. He peered around the room he was in, and wondered how he got there. He had been out of it for the past week, the he forgotten everything that happen. As he rested his head back down on his pillow, he noticed he was not alone. He turned his head towards the window, and saw his beloved sleeping beside him. He smiled brightly and turned over on his side. His smile soften, and gently caressed Andrin’s cheek. Andrin moaned slightly and tossed in his sleep. He had a rough night, waking up ever hour to check on Davis’s conditions. Davis laughed lightly and leaned up to kiss his nose. Andrin stirred again, this time he woke and slowly opened his eyes.

“Davis?” Andrin gasped, seeing his love staring up at him. He sat up and hugged Davis to his chest. “I am so happy that you are alive.” Andrin’s eyes swelled with tears, and he squeezed Davis tighter to him. He didn’t want to let go of him, not now, not ever.

“Andrin, are you feeling okay?” Davis asked.

“Me, I should be asking you the same question.” he then pulled Davis out of the hug and felt his forehead. He had no temperature, and his skin color had returned to normal.

Just then, Mary came into the room, and she gasped at the sight of her son. “Davis she wept. She ran over to him and snatched him away Andrin, sobbing into her son’s chest. “FATHER. Father, come quick!” she yelled, calling for Jeffery.

“What is it now?” Jeffery yelled. “Has Davis finally kicked the bucket? Oh…” he looked down at his daughter, and he saw that Davis was alive and healthy. But that was not happy to see the furry king in Davis’s bed. “What is he doing here?” he spat.

“Comforting your grandson.” Andrin spat back as he crawled out of bed. He then walked over to the door, and headed out the door. “I will be staying in the village for the night. I will come and get Davis next morning.” he then slipped out the front door, leaving Davis to his family for one more night.

“You are not going with him.” Jeffery turned to his grandson.
“What?” Davis yelled, pulling away from his mother. “You can not tell me what to do!”

“You are still underage, and your mother and I are still your guardians.”

“Dad, are you getting a little out of hand with all this?” Mary asked.

“No I am not. You saw what he did to your son. He poisoned him, and almost killed him.”

“Andrin almost killed me?” Davis asked, feeling worried and out of the loop.

“Yes,” Jeffery replied. “He raped you, poisoned you, and then left you on our doorstep to die.”

“Andrin couldn’t be.” Davis said sadly. “He marked me.”

“He what---?”

“He marked me.” Davis said again, showing his grandfather and mother his neck. They gasped as Davis showed them a black crescent moon on his neck. Jeffery shook his head as he saw it. That was the mark of the furries, something that he did not want to see on his grandson. That mark meant that he now belonged to Andrin.

“We can’t do anything now.” Mary sighed, looking up at Jeffery. “We have to hand him over to Andrin.”

“There is no way I am giving him to that beast. Mark or not.”

“Dad, we have no choice.” and she got off the bed to go to her own.

Jeffery stared at his grandson for a while, only to let out a long sigh and walked out of the room. Davis sighed as he laid his head back down, and looked out the dusty window. He did not want to be alone, he wanted Andrin. He let out anther long sigh, and he placed his hand around his neck and covered his mark. As he thought about his love, he slowly slipped into a darkness and fell back to sleep.

Andrin and Davis laughed as they walked through the woods, sharing jokes about pointless things. Davis was happy to be back with Andrin, though he was kind of sad that he could never see his family again. But he knew it was for the best. They where half way through the forest, when Davis suddenly stopped and felt ill. Andrin took notice of this, and help him down to the ground.

“Are you alright?” he asked Davis, a worried look in his eyes.

“Yes, I am fine.” Davis smiled. “There is still a little poison left in my blood stream; it will take a few more minutes to get everything out of my system.” Andrin nodded, and allowed Davis to rest a bit more. As Davis catch his breath, he couldn’t help to think what really happen to him. “Andrin?” Davis sighed, looking up at him. Andrin looked down at the boy and took notice at what he had to say. “I remember what happened to me.” he said, finally recalling what happen when he was at the King’s meeting.

“Then tell me…who did this to you.” Andrin begged, squeezing Davis’s hand for comfort.

“It was Canon. He kidnapped me, and had his men raped me.”

“That son of a bitch!” Andin cried, getting up off the ground. “Did he tell you why he kidnapped you?”

“Yes. He said he would spare me my life, only if I never see you again. But I refused his offer, and he had Sinan and Jaxon rape me. After that he poisoned me.”

“Fucking shit! I should have killed the three of them when I threw them out of my kingdom.”

“There is another thing too that I’ve discovered.” Davis said, looking down at the ground.

“What is it?” Andrin spat.

“Your brother what was his name again?” Davis asked, making sure that he got the name right before he could say anything else.

“Ante. Why?”

“I had fund out that Canon had also murdered him, as well as your father.”

Andrin face fell and tears began to stream from his eyes. He fell to his knees and pounded on the forest floor. Davis also started to cry as he saw his love in so much pain. He wanted to comfort Andrin, but he knew that he would only be pushed away. Andrin’s sobs grew loud as his past of his family’s untimely death came into full view. As the time passed, his hate built towards Canon, and he let out loud yell. He then got up off the ground, and raced back towards his kingdom to deal with the bear. He was so enraged with Canon that he forgot all about Davis. Not even his cries to stop made him realized he had forgotten him. It wasn’t till he reached the old willow that he stopped, and Davis was able to catch up with him.

“What’s wrong?” Davis asked, seeing Andrin’s face still enraged. He had stopped all of a sudden, and he didn’t know why. He sniffed the air to see if Andrin smelt something, but he smelt nothing.

“Stay here.” Andrin told Davis, and he slowly walked into the entrance to his court.
