Caught

This chapter is exclusively reserved to Seleno and Shusui. Sorry to disappoint those who wanted Tansa and Alavas but I thought I was a little too centered on that couple. And I kind of like the 2 elves. And some suspence won't kill, (Pixie hides under her table, don't beat me!!) lol. On with the story! And please review!! I really really need it sometimes to have the courage to continue.

Shusui woke up to a searing pain on his left leg. Keeping his breathing slow and regular, he quickly tried to assess his situation. Starting with his toes and making his way to his head. Cold metal surrounded his ankles. His left tight was hurting and he vaguely remembered feeling a bullet penetrating his skin, great. Moving higher he felt another cold metal belt around his hips and two little ones around his wrists. Well he would have to test them, but not now. His legs were spread and secured in that position. His arms along his body.

Opening his Mind, he looked for any humans in a perimeter of one kilometre… and found none. That only told him that they had indeed found a way to conceal themselves. He certainly couldn’t count on his Mind anymore. Trying another technique, he blocked all sensations but what his ears were providing him with.

First silence met him. Then little by little, he started to hear better. Elves had better hearing then humans. A faint regular but almost imperceptible click. Probably some kind of machine. A camera? The sound of droplets of liquid falling in liquid. A drip? Where they injecting something in his blood? That could be bad. There! He had heard something… that he couldn’t hear anymore, damn. The dull noise of a light. Another breathing and the rustle of clothes. He wasn’t alone.

Carefully, almost imperceptibly, he tried to apply pressure on the cold metal surrounding his wrists. To any eye but an elf one, he would look asleep, deeply so, his breathing shallow and regular. To an elf, he would look tensed, the muscles in his right arm straining and his face deep in concentration. Ha. They were advantages at being elf. He heard nothing, whatever metal they had used to tie him it was strong and even when applying a lot of pressure it didn’t even “give a plaint”. Well, damn. He was definitely stuck.

He didn’t even want to consider what his “capture” and “discoveries” entailed. Well, he had to, but… they knew about their Mind, or at least knew how to counter one of the elves’ senses as they must think it. They knew about their strength, or they wouldn’t have tied him in that way. They had been able to make him sleep and for that they had had to use something really powerful. Something that would have killed a human quite quickly and easily. Seleno must be really worried.

For the moment he didn’t have much choice. He could either “wake up” and see what they would do or he could “sleep” and wish they would let something slip. The decision was taken from him when a door suddenly opened and two humans came in. He grimaced internally when he realised that he would have to play the human and be careful with everything he said and did. He would have to express emotions with his entire body like they did, he would have to produce pain noises, cry, beg, … How could they be so… so… obvious? He hated it. Luckily he was quite good with playing the role, he HAD being trained for it after all.

Lowering his barriers, he suppressed his inhibitions, letting only his resistance under torture remain. He would play the human but they would get nothing out of him. That was a certainty. He was brought out of his thinking by a searing pain in his left tight. Crying in pain he opened his eyes wide. Treekillers!* They really had nasty tricks, his already on fire tight was now burning. They must have put something on the wound to make it hurt like that. As his vision returned to normal, he realised he was in a large white room. The lamp he had heard was the kind of lamp human doctors used during operations.

Three humans were standing around the table he was on. Their faces were difficult to see since he was blinded by the light from the lamp. One of them had a scalpel in hand and Shusui knew that was certainly not a good sign.

“Who are you?” one of the humans asked.

Instead of answering, Shusui looked at them defiantly and tried his restrains again, this time more evidently. They still didn’t budge, shit. That’s when his long hours of torture began.

Seleno was ready to tear his hair right out of his head. He could feel the pain coming from his life partner and it was killing him. It seemed muffled like a phantom pain but it was there none the less. Silent tears poured out of his eyes without his facial expression changing and the elf talking to him paused to look at him with pained eyes. The only words he had heard was I’m sorry we can’t do anything for the moment. After those, every sound had been blocked from his mind as his stomach had tightened nearly unbearably.

“What are they doing to him?”

He looked up with empty eyes at the face of the man that was his superior. Smiling softly he said in a voice devoid of emotion, a voice he nearly didn’t recognize as his:

“I quit. You may not want to risk other elves being taken prisoner but I can’t stand by and hope he dies before they discover too much or there is nothing left of him to rescue. You are not going to use me to know if they are doing any discovery either. I’m going to the human world. Dishonour me, I don’t care. I’m going to get him out of there.”

With that he turned his back on his once happy life and made his way to his house to pack. He had not done three steps before he felt a dart lodge itself in the back of his neck and he felt his body go lax. He was unconscious before his head touched the cool wooden floor.

“I’m sorry young elf; I can’t let you do anything foolish. We already lost a precious asset, we are not going to loose you too.”

With that an unconscious Seleno was lifted from the floor and carried to the Special Rooms area. Elves were more than attached to their life partner and the loss of one was usually so unbearable, few survived. But the worse was probably feeling him die or be tortured through your Link with him or her. He was sorry for Seleno but they needed him to save their race and even though it hurt he would have to help in the way the council decided he would. Smiling sadly at the carried form of his son, Lasano felt his heart tighten.

“I’m sorry”
