The Mother of...Gah!

“Took you long enough.” Starfyre whispered to Stephanie as she came down. “I told them Andrew was delayed and you..were flirting somewhere.”

“Well at least you didn’t lie.” Chuckling. “And sorry..Just..uh..he wouldn’t stay down.” Whispering back. “So is your mom here?”

“She should be arriving any second. I wish she’d go away.” Shaking her head. “Anyways..is he tamed now?”

“Mmmhmm. And believe me..I..like being your friend.” Winking. “I see why you’re always so sore.”

“Mmhmm.” Giggling. “But it’s great, right? Just..lords..I couldn’t..not after all last night.”

“No worries. You got me..and I got you..and he’s got us.”

“Good..you can move in the room with us.” Laughing some. “Course we’d never get any sleep.”

“Cause he’d keep going, and going,”

“And going.”

Both girls giggling in that girl talk way. Andrew smirked when he came down.

“I can see the devil horns coming off both of you. And the tails.”

“Have to have something to hold the halos up.” His Fiancee grinning. “And you match me..”

“That’s why I asked.” Coming up behind them both and hugging. He kissed each one’s cheek. “You two..are a man’s ..dream and..his worst nightmare when you’re giggling like this.”

“Aw..but we love you. That’s can’t be a nightmare.” Stephanie nipped his ear and purred.

“Okay..” Pulling away. “Bad..bad Stephanie.” Andrew quickly adjusted him self and looked ahead. “Well..shall we?”

“Yes and..by the way..she’s moving into the room with us.” Starfyre grinned and quickly stepped away.

“Hmm?” He blinked. “Wha?”

“Oh that was mean!” Stephanie ran after Starfyre. “Wait up!”

“Evil..” Growling low and quickly thinking of something ugly and..not attractive or sexually exciting. “Evil, and more Evil.”

“Son! Come here..”

His mother called him. Andrew shook his head and walked on. He’d get them back later. Starfyre and Stephanie, of course, already outside on the front steps waiting with the parents. The coach was approaching and a poor, rather verbally abused coachman was on top.

“Ouch. My mother must have griped at him pretty good.”

“Probably.” Stephanie whispered in reply. “Just hope he forgives me later. He’s cool to hang with.”

“Ladies?” Andrew’s mother turning to look at them. “Something interesting? It’s rude..you know..to whisper behind someone’s back.”

“If they are speaking about someone in an ill way.” Approaching, stepping behind the girls. “They aren’t however. I know they speak of private matters amongst them selves, mother.”

“Yes dear. Don’t be so uptight. And remember..they are Americans. They have a different culture than we.” The king smiling. “Now..I bet you’re excited, Starfyre.”

“Not really, sire. It’s just my mother.”

“Just?” The man raised a brow. “My wife was sure you’d be at ease in planning the wedding with her here.”

“No sire. We do not get along in truth. But I promise to hold my tongue so that I will respect your hospitality that you have been do gracious to show my self and my friend..”

“I wasn’t aware that you didn’t get along...” The king looked disturbed by this.

“Starfyre, darling! Look at you.....in....” Her mother frowned as she got out. “In..your usual...state..of..dress.”

“Nice to see you as well, Mother..in your usual..drab choice of..garments.”

“So..” The king ahemd. “That’s certainly not your usual greeting for a daughter that you haven’t seen in weeks.”

“Is for her, sire.” Turning, walking back inside. “Do excuse me.” Starfyre said as she left.

The queen sighed and shook her head. This wasn’t working like she hoped it would at all. She hoped the girl Liked her mother. Andrew cleared his throat and nodded.

“Well..I should go see to my Fiancee.” He nodded his head to the newly arrived woman. “My lady..”

“So you’re the prince..well..you dress normal..why can’t she take your advice and dress proper.” Starfyre’s mother just couldn’t let it go.

“I’ll go..too.” Stephanie grabbed Andrew’s hand. “Toodles all!”

She pulled him off quickly and the Queen gasped. The king simply chuckled.

“Personally..I see nothing wrong with how your daughter dresses..Miss Renwal and..since she IS my son’s Fiancee and MY future daughter in law..I am going to have to ask you to show just a little more respect towards her while you are here. No more of that..judging thing.” Turning on his heels. “Or you will be quickly uninvited.”

He walked off and his wife frowned yet again. Glancing at the shocked woman, she smiled helplessly.

“I apologize...I..had hoped your presence would make planning this wedding easier for your daughter. She seems..so..Apprehensive of things..” waving her hands. “No..listen to me ramble. Do come inside..I will show to your room personally.”

“Thank you..Majesty. At least someone seems to have manners here.”

“I would suggest quelling that..mannerism in front of my husband.” Walking inside now. “You see..he was informed that you two ..your daughter and you..didn’t get along. That’s funny, for when I talked to you..you said you..were close. Have you lied to me?”

“No, I have not lied. She’s just being her usual difficult self. I assure you that we will be fine..we just have one of THOSE relationships with one another.”

“I hope..for your sake, that you are correct. My husband isn’t one to..see grief between family. And it’s already come off that you..do not exactly approve of her..style. When, in fact, that is why she was chosen...My son found it to his liking. Do you understand what I am saying here?” Glancing at Marilyn. “Well?”

“Yes, Majesty..I understand.” Sighing. “I was hoping that..she might TRY something a little new. That’s all.”

“Maybe you should ..TRY and communicate that better when you next get to greet her. Instead of being shrewd..you could sound happy to see her.” Leading the woman towards guest rooms. “Here..down stairs and in the guest hall..First door..A nice room. It’s isn’t a suite but those are for the family of course.”

“Where does my daughter sleep?”

“Maybe you could ask her..where her room is. If she would like you to know..she will tell you.” The queen opened the door. “Now..we shall let you freshen up for Lunch ..well maybe dinner actually. My husband seemed..agitated. Yes..dinner.” Nodding. “And we can try that motherly thing again.”

“I..Are you suggesting that..you are not happy with me either? I’ve only just arrived here and I feel unwelcome.”

“You are, of course, welcome. All I am suggesting is that you..re-think how you might greet your daughter when you next see her. As my husband well stated..My son loves her and We love her as she is. Starfyre is a bit Eccentric but she’s done’s nothing to warrant our disapproval. She has been nothing but a delight here as has her friend been.” Smiling. “You see..here..we do not Judge by stateof dress or actions. It how one carries them self that we look at. And she is a very noble person. We were..disappointed in your lack of obvious excitement to see her..I suppose, if you must ..see a cause or reason.”

“I am happy to see my daughter.”

“Are you? Truly? Or is this an elaborate lie? Because I am not sensing that you ..really want to see her. You asked where she was sleeping but you haven’t asked me to go get her so you could apologize to her for being..rude as you were.” Shrugging. “But I must go see to my husband..Please..enjoy the room.”

The queen now walking away from her. Starfyre’s mother growled under her breath and turned her back to the woman. Her damned daughter. That goth freakiness. It had them JUDGING her instead of her daughter!

“Think of the status, Marilyn.” She whispered to her self. “The mother to a princess and future queen.”

Entering the room. Her bags already carried in. She closed the door and smirked. She’d play nice for status.

“Yes..Just Play nice..” Grunting. “Small room..I’ve seen two start hotels better. What happened to this being a palace? I want a grand room. Bet that little tart, Stephanie, has one. And all because she’s Starfyre’s friend. Well I’m her mother, damn it.”

Grumbling to her self, looking around. It was a really nice room as far as five start hotels went actually but her snide attitude was taking over.

“Oh well..time to freshen up..for dinner..” Rolling her eyes. “Since they have deemed Lunch unimportant.”

For whatever reasons, she still was angry at Starfyre. Things came too easily her daughter. She hated that. She hated that it seemed like the world bent over backwards for Starfyre and did nothing for her.
