Fish Fried
Fish Fried
Only a fraction of the city of Angle’s Basin has returned, the sounds of children playing and people going to work seem almost hollow, surreal, the active population grows by the hour but the city far dwarfs the people there. And most of the people who are there are the police, mayor, the civil servents returned firsk ot prevent the city from falling to chaos leaving very few civilians to simply live in the city.
With the city in such a state the teens find themselves with a beautiful day and no teachers, they head for the shore off what would normally be a busy marina. Even the boats on the sea sit errily quiet, their crews away, what little coast gard has returned out on the placid ocean tugging the errants ships into port.
On the Moon Maat, Reeva, Ra, and Selket watch the city below as our heros enjoy a picnic and some scuba diving.
“I take away their city and they relax while that blasted child restores it.” Reeva snarles, Maat hugglign the leg of Selket tighter and shivering.
“Your boss is scary mommy, why does she keep hurting those people down there?” Maat asks with child like innocence. “Why can’t we all play together.”
Selket lifts up Maat cooing softly as she takes her to her room. “They are not people like us, they are both inferior and dangerous. “Left to their own devices they would fly to the stars and destroy us all without even realizing it.”
Selket snuggles into her mothers bosem as she is tucked into bed, Selket retunring to the main chamber. But Maat does not remain still for long, her acute ears twitch and strain to hear rh goings on in the main room.
“I think,” Reeva cackles, “That a little gift from the sea should make the day more interesting.”
Maat’s claws trace the surface of the strange wrist device silently, as she listens intently.
“And I think it is time we began to burn the Ash Candle once more.”
Maat’s heart skips a beat.
“No mistress,” Ra jumps in, “We made a deal, we can not go back on it now.”
“With the child?” Reeva chuckles “I doubt she even remembers it now.”
“Please,” Ra emplores.
Reeva sighs, “Fine, I’ll play along for now.”
Maat’s heart resumes is normal beat.
Had there been more people the air would be full of paniced screams, as it is when the mockery of fish and man emerges from the waters toward Micheal, Trinity, Jason, and the Hydro Hag in her human guise there is only a quick flash of light before the red and green marine, the silver knight and the frog like Hydro Hag stand at the ready. A moment later Kenny is there as the blue marine.
The creature charges, right into a face full of water from Hydro Hag’s hoses. Kenny moves to charge but stops after only a few feet. Reeva’s voice cackles on the wind as Kenny crashes back to his human form and crumples to the ground into a fetal ball weaping.
“What did you do to him!” Jason yells to the wind.
A bad move as a wave of sharp toothed fish leap fro mthe water and gnaw into the green marine.
“Just gave him a taste of his worst nightmare.” Reeva’s voice cackles as Micheal’s sword clashes against the slimly arms of the monster. Trininitys Mace’s slames hard intothe creatures chest as he Hydro Hag collects with her powerful legs using a flying leap to fish’s head.
The Hydro Hag slips as she tries to regain her footing, a slick slime coating her feet as she lands, a moment later she is on her back. Charging into Trinity and Jason the slick slime of the fish creature causes them to loose their grip on the ocerena and mace as they fumble to the ground. With most of the team on the ground, struggling to stand the fish creature advances on Micheal. Suddenly in a flash of gold a figure appears behind the creature. Halfthe side of the teens, and with the body of a child the cat like creature carries itself wt the same stance and determination of Ra or Selket.
Kenny stops shaking for a moment to stare at Maat as she rolls down her sleeve and rises the strange wrist device to the sky. A low rumble, a purr, or growl, escaping the cat creatures lips.
[Saber-Tooth Tiger!] She shouts in a alien tounge.
Nothing happens.
Maat looks to the device as the fish creature turns her way, a look on panic on her feline features as the monster advances. She shuts her eyes tight, searching hr mind for the cause. She flinches as the fish man lunges at her, a image of great and powerful feline beast leaping at her in her mind. Her lips parting as if speaking it’s name will scare it away.
“Rakeesh!” she shouts in a trenbleing voice.
The device begins to wail, A siren noise just before the crystal glow a brillian golden color.
In a blinding flahs of light a new marines stands where Maat once stood. Black bolts set alogn the side and the chest give the armor a falimiar and distinctive flair, the helmet shaped in some alien visage of a long fanged feline while the golden body armor almost seems to melt into dull gold of the primary color of the armor. The figure no mere child but a adult, Twin daggers form in Maat’s hands as she ducks under the swing of the beast, her blades buried deep into the creature’s chest. The others, including Kenny are back on their feet and lunge at the beast, after a moment it falls. Before anyone could react the yellow marine returns to the form of Maat, sharp fags flash as she let out a low meow and dings sharps fangs and claws into the fish creature.
A look of both shock and terror crosses the heroes faces, but Before Maat can get more then a few bites Ra appears behind her. The Cat child torn from her mean and into the arms of Ra as he turns fro mthe monster. Sheilding his daughter from the explosion. As the heros picks themselves up from the sand and surf Ra can be heard speaking that strange toughe to the child. As of scolded Maat is hiked onto Ra’s shoulder, Kenny catching only the slightest glimsts of a wink.
“T…Tara?” he choaks.
“Not any more.” Ra says ominisly. “My little Maat, you’ve gone and ruined your super now.”
And with that the felines are gone.
