"What are we going to do? We can't just tell Jaicyn that her brother ran off. She'll take it out on us more than likely." Stephan said.
"Jaicyn isn't going to harm any of you." Savannah told them weakly. Ever since they had returned from the hospital, Savannah had gotten worse and Daniel tried his hardest not to leave her side. He hadn't thought it possible to rekindle his love for her. Daniel had spent so long trying to forget her. He had almost succeded but he could always feel her at least a little. When she showed up in town it had taken him by surprise. At first he had tried to ignore what he was feeling but in the end he gave in.
"You're lucky Daniel didn't harm you for what you did." Phillip said, still angry at Stephan. Faye was lying on the bed beside Savannah. She was fully healed but was sleeping to recuperate.
Stephan shot Phillip a glare. "Anyway, what I want to know is what we're going to tell Jaicyn."
"We'll make something up long enough for Edward to get back and explain where the hell he went." Phillip said.
"Where do you think he went?" Savannah told them "He has to be near her in order to be at peace. Until they bond they must stay within sight of each other all the time." Pain soared through her body and she closed her eyes. Daniel grabbed her hand and held it between both of his. The pain seeped out of her body and into his. He could handle pain better than she could.
"You alright?" he asked her.
"I'm better." She said with a nod.
"What's going on with you?" Stephan asked.
"I think that the guy that attacked me put some kind of spell on me. It's the only thing that I can think of." She told them all.
"How do we fix it?" Phillip asked. Savannah shook her head.
"I don't know. Maybe an overload of energy from someone who's done it before. An energy that my body recognizes."
"I'll do it." Daniel said without hesitating.
"No, it could kill you. And I won't have you dying it doesn't work. Even if it does, I won't take that chance." Daniel was silent.
"Wait, you two have shared energy before? How is that possible?" Phillip asked.
"It was a long time ago but I'll do it again gladly.
"Daniel-"
"No, this is something I have to do. For both of us. I need to do something to let you know everything. And this is the best way."
"You don't just want to give me energy do you?"
"No. I want it to be like it was, before I became what I am now. Back when things made sense."
"Daniel, I don't know if we can. I don't know if it's even possible. This really could kill you if it doesn't work." she said.
"I was ripped from one life to another. I want to go back."
"Ripped away from a life you hated. You never enjoyed it."
"I didn't hate it, not really. I was around you, that's what made it worth it."
"If you really want this, we can try it."
"Try what? Stephan asked. Daniel looked from Savannah to Stephan and to Phillip. He opened his mouth to speak when Jaicyn walked into the room.
"We have a problem." she said. Her entire body was tense.
"We already know that Edward isn't here, Jaicyn." Phillip told her.
"This isn't about Edward. Some of our vampires are missing. They haven't returned from the hunt and it's almost dawn."
"Maybe they stayed with another vampire." Stephan suggested.
"Perhaps one, maybe two. But not six. Three newborns and three sponsors are gone. The sponsors should have had them back by three. It's going on five and I can't sense any of them."
"Who are the newborns?" Savannah asked.
"Whitney, Dennis and Ethan. Their sponsors are Corey, Zach and Matthew. The three of them can hold their own, which is what has me so worried. It had to be something extremely powerful to take all of them." Daniel came off the bed.
"Someone's here." he said sniffing the air. Phillip and Stephan moved to either side of the door. Daniel moved Jaicyn out of sight. When the man walked through the door both Stephan and Phillip grabbed him and took him to the ground. The extra strength was needed to ensure the animal under them wouldn't fight them.
"Let him go you two fur ball!" Jaicyn said to them. "It's Seth."
"I know who it is." Phillip said through gritted teeth. Seth tried to get up but Phillip pushed him back to the floor.
"Guys, let him go now. Daniel, you're their leader. Make them let go of him." She said.
"I'm afraid I'm with them on this one, Jaicyn. I have never liked this sorry excuse for exsistance in my life."
"Then get out." she said fighting the urge to scream at them all. Daniel was quiet for a few seconds.
"Fine, let him up." They released him and Seth got to his feet quickly. Daniel went over and picked Savannah up. "At least be careful. We'll search for your missing vampires as well." Then they were gone in that lightning speed, and so was Faye.
"I'm sorry, Seth. I don't know what's wrong with them." Seth struck out and backhanded Jaicyn across the face. She slammed into the wall and hit the floor hard.
"What were you thinking? Letting those animals and that damn bloodsucker in here! What's the matter with you?" Seth screamed. Jaicyn was too terrified to answer. All she could do was stay there and try not to move. "You know, you should have believed them. I'm not the best influence." he said more calmly, more sinister. He reached down and grabbed her hair, pulling her off the ground. "I'm going to have fun with you. Just as I am with the rest of your kiss." he took his other hand and collided it with the side of her head. Seth felt the bone give and knew she wouldn't wake up for awhile. Damn, it took so much to subdue her. But that's one thing that made it all worth it. IHe only wished that she had fought back just a little. Oh well. At least he had her now and was one step closer to running her kiss. One step closer to Edward.
When Jaicyn woke up she couldn't see. There was a piece of black cloth over her eyes. Her hands were chained above her head. That's what had woken her up. Her wrists had started burn. What scared her most was that her feet were not touching solid ground. She was suspended in the air, her shoulders straining against her weight. Jaicyn jerked trying to free herself from the chains.
"It's no use." she heard a familiar voice say.
"Corey? Is that you?" she asked with so much so in her voice that it was pathetic sounding to her.
"It is, Master." he said automatically.
"I've told you before to call me Jaicyn.
"I'm sorry, Jaicyn."
"Don't be sorry. Do you know where we are?"
"In an old wear house outside of the city." Corey told her. Jaicyn jerked her body. "Stop it!" Corey shouted. "The inside of the chains are covered with crosses. There is pretty much a pool of holy water under you. If you break the chains you're going to die." Jaicyn didn't move. This just got a whole lot more complicated.
"Can you at least uncover my eyes? Or can you reach me?" she asked. She felt something move in front of her, the scraping of teeth against her temple. She could see again. Corey was hanging in front of her, within inches. How could she have not realized that he was that close? He let the piece of cloth fall from his mouth into the water below. At first it was hard to recognize him from under all the cuts, but slowly she could make his face out.
His blue eyes looked dull, absent of the person that she knew. His dark hair was full of blood, the heavy liquid weighing down on the curls that he had. She knew the cuts on his face had happened with a weapon dipped in holy water or else they would have healed moments after they had happened
"What happened to you?" she asked angrily. No one, no one could touch any of her vampires in this way.
"It was that thing you go out with. How many times had we told you that he wasn't what he seemed? How many times did I tell you that?" Now he was the one getting angry.
"I'm sorry, Corey. I didn't listen and now we're all here. Where are the others?" Corey didn't speak. He couldn't tell her. His eyes fell to the ground and Jaicyn's followed. On the ground were the bodies of five vampires. All of them were burnt beyond death.
"Seth left them to hang when the sun came out. Hearing their screams... I'll never forget it." He said starting off into nothing.
"Hey, this wasn't your fault. Do you understand me?" Jaicyn said. "It was mine. I didn't listen to what any of you said to me. I let this happen."
"How touching." Seth said walking into the room. "You're hanging thirty feet in the air and still find a way to take the blame. Just to keep him calm. It just shows how much of a coward he is." he said grinning
"You'll never be half the man that he is." Jaicyn said.
"Oh really? As I see it, he can't even save you from where he is. I on the other hand, can save you both very easily."
"Fuck you." Jaicyn said through clenched teeth.
"I guess you have chosen your fate then, Jaicyn" he pressed a button on the wall by the door. The chain slacked and she started to fall. Corey wrapped his legs around her to keep her from falling into the tank. Seth hit the button again and the chain stopped it's descent.
"And you said I couldn't save her. I will not let you do anything to harm her."
"That's sweet. Jaicyn, tell me, do you know why that your precious Corey is trying to keep you so safe?"
"Keep your mouth shut, Seth."
"Oh no, not anymore. I think that she deserves to know before she dies. Corey is infatuated with you. He has always had feelings for you. You honestly didn't know?" Seth told her. Jaicyn looked at Corey with furrowed brows.
"Corey...?" she said.
"It's true. I didn't know how to tell you and you were so hung up on Seth that I figured you would never notice." Jaicyn didn't know what to say. Corey was one of the sweetest men that she knew. Could she really have been that blind when it came to him? She, who could read minds, hadn't figured it out yet. She felt so bad, so broken.
"Right now you have two choices. You can either be the death of you both, or you can end your own life, Jaicyn, of your own choosing." Seth told her.
"Corey, let me go." she said.
"Are you crazy? I'm not letting you go."
"As your Master I am giving you an order. Let me go." Corey didn't move. What was she doing? Ending her life to save his? Corey didn't think that Seth would let him live that much longer after she was dead.
"Don't make do this, please." Corey pleaded. He did not want to do this. He could never be able to get over it.
"You have to. Do this for me." she said to him.
"Jaicyn-" she cut him off by pressing her lips to his hard. Corey was a little surprised by it. It was something he hadn't expected. She pulled back and they stared at each other. Jaicyn nodded and Corey hesitantly let her go. She fell into the tank and started to scream. "Jaicyn!" he screamed. Seth laughed and left the room.
Randi woke up screaming on the bed of a new cell. Aiden immediately ran to her. "Randi! What is it?" she asked worried.
"Jaicyn!" She yelled, her scream echoing in the cell. "I have to help her! She's going to die!"
