Chapter Fourteen: Missing

“Do you still wanna marry me?” he asked again and Leila nodded.
He licked his lips. “Okay, I’m willing to forgive you, on one condition.” He said narrowing his eyes. Leila held her breath and nodded.
“You never see Chase again.” Leila blinked and her heart sank to the pit of her stomach.

Leila stood still gaping at him. Never see Chase again, how could he ask her to do such a thing? Chase was her life, there’s no way she could give him up.

She shook her head. “Adrian that’s not fair. You can’t ask that of Me.” he told him Adrian glared at her.

“I can’t share you Leila, I wont.” He said flatly. “If you want to spend the rest of your life with me, you stop seeing Chase. I can’t live with the idea of you and him together. Every time you see him I’m going to be wondering whether or not you’re sleeping with him again.” He explained.

Leila shook her head. “You can ask me to give up anything Adrian, but Chase…Chase is the one thing no one, not even you can take away from Me.” she said swallowing hard.

Adrian narrowed his eyes. “So you’re willing to give up someone who loves you for the sake of a stupid friendship?” he asked incredulously.

“No, Adrian, Chase is not only my friend, he’s my life. I have been through so much with him to give him up for something as stupid as this. I have known him since I was six years old, he means the world to Me.” she admitted.

“I thought you loved me?”

“I do, but not half as much as I love Chase. I can’t wipe off seventeen years of friendship for a five minute relationship. I won’t.” she said tears filling her ocean blue eyes.

Adrian nodded. “Well, then I guess that’s it.” He said coldly. Leila dropped her gaze as tears streamed down her cheeks.

“I’m sorry Adrian, I really wish things could have been different.” She said before taking off her ring and placing it on the table. “Look after yourself.” She said quietly before walking out.
Adrian stood firm in his spot watching his ex-fiancée walk out of his life.

Leila sat in her car for the third time that night. She looked up at her ex-fiancé’s window. A part of her loved Adrian but giving up Chase was just not an option for her. If there was no Chase there would be no her.

After one last look she started up her car and drove off. She could go home but she wanted to see Chase, be in his arms.

The roads were empty and eerie silent. She reached into her purse to find her cell phone and call Chase to tell him she would be at his place in ten minutes. A bright set of head lights from behind her made her wince.

“Turn off your bright’s, jackass.” She mumbled looking into her rear-view mirror. The black car behind her pulled out and over took speeding past her. She looked to see the driver but the windows were tinted black.

The car swerved and stopped in the middle of the road abruptly causing Leila to slam on her breaks before she crashed into him. “Shit,” she cursed and was about ready to step out of the car and give the idiot driver a piece of her mind when all four doors opened and four tall men clad in black clothing stepped out.

Leila’s heart began racing in her chest, every thump getting harder as the men took one step closer to her. She quickly pushed a button and locked all her doors and hurriedly looked down at her phone.

No service!

“Fuck.” She cursed her blue eyes wide as the men surrounded her car. One of them tried opening the door but it was locked. The one by her door reached into his pocket and pulled something out. Leila watching him cautiously her breath hitched in her throat when she saw it was a gun.

She unbuckled her seatbelt ready to jump in the backseat when the driver’s side window smashed and the doors clicked open. “No, no, no please what the hell do you want from me?” she asked her voice breaking.

One of the men pulled her out of the car while she struggled. “Get off me!” she yelled. “HELP!” She screamed at the top of her lungs before she got silenced.

“I suggest you be quiet if you ever want to see your family again.” One of the men said coldly in her ear.

“What do you want?” she whimpered as they dragged her off to the black car.

“You’ll find out soon enough.” He said before throwing her into the car and slamming the doors shut while the rest got in.

An hour later the car pulled up outside a big house. Leila looked around taking in her surroundings. Whoever lived here must be well off. She struggled to figure out why a wealthy person would kidnap her.
The driver of the vehicle pulled her out of the car and all but dragged her to the house. “Where are we?” she asked as they neared the front door. The whole house was guarded with men and gates with security cameras.

No one answered her questions. Once inside Leila scanned the house. Where the hell was she, who was these people? Her heart was beating so hard in her chest she could hear each thump in her ears.

“Look if its money you want I could give you money, just please let me go.” she pleaded as they threw her into a room.

“Stay in here,” the one holding on to her arm said before he took off his mask. Leila swallowed hard when she saw the dark look in his violet eyes.

“Wait.” She said before he turned to leave the room. “What do you want?” the man looked straight into her eyes. He took a big step towards her pressing her into a wall with his body.

He raised his hand and Leila flinched. She gulped when his cold fingers ran down her cheeks. “Don’t worry we’re not going to hurt you. We need you if we’re going to get what we really want.” He told her his voice deep and husky.

“Which is what exactly?” She asked shakily.

He smiled, “You will find out soon.” He said and stepped away and walked out of the room. Leila fell to the floor when her knees gave away; sitting there in the cold room she hugged herself and cried silently.

**

A few days went by and Leila was still trapped in the same room. The only time she left was when she had to use the bathroom.
One afternoon the same guy who she knew as Marc now came in with a tray of food. He looked around the room and sighed when he saw the tray from before was still full. “Leila it’s been three days you have to eat something.” He said placing the tray in front of her.

Leila looked at him coldly. “No, if you’re so concerned let me go. What the hell are you keeping me here for?” she asked coldly. “And don’t say I’ll find out soon. I have been here for days.”

Marc perched down in front of her. “You will find out today.” Leila rolled her eyes in annoyance. “Please eat something.” He said with a soft smile.

Leila frowned, “You know you really don’t strike me as the kidnapping type.” She said narrowing her tired blue eyes at him.

“I’m not a monster, I told you, you won’t be harmed and I meant it.”
She snorted. “Yeah, you gotta keep me safe if you’re going to get a single dime from my father.”

“This isn’t about money.” He said coolly. Leila felt a surge of anger shoot through like bolts of lightning.

“Then what, why keep me here? Are you some kind of perverted stalker or something?” she asked with a deep frown.

Marc chuckled. “No, I’m not a stalker. Don’t get me wrong you are a very attractive girl. But this has nothing to do with you, you’re just the bait.” He explained and Leila arched a brow.

A soft knock sounded on the door and another scruffy looking guy walked in. “Marc, boss wants to see the girl.” He said and Marc nodded. He looked back at Leila who looked highly concerned.
“Come on.” He said and pulled Leila up to her feet. She followed him through the house until they came to a black door. Leila looked at Marc her worry evident in her blue eyes.

Marc opened the door and pulled Leila in with him. Leila winced when the smell of cigars burned the back of her throat. The room was painted a deep maroon colour it looked like an office with a desk and leather chair in the corner of the room.

Leila’s eyes settled on the tall middle aged man standing in front of a window gazing out as if in deep thought. A cigar was burning between his fingers. He slowly turned when marc cleared his throat.

Leila gasped and took a step back when she saw the old mans face. One side of his face was burned severely. He smiled upon seeing Leila gape at him with a frightened expression on her face.

“Sit her down.” He ordered his voice cold and unyielding. A chair was brought and instantly Leila was pushed into it by one of the other men. Her hands and leg began shaking wildly. “My my, you really do look like your mother.” He said slowly moving towards her. Leila blinked in response but remained silent.

“Bet you’re wondering what your doing here, huh?” he asked an evil smirk on his face. Leila nodded slowly never taking her eyes off the man before her. “Well, you’re about to find out.” He said and Leila swallowed hard.

**

Chase jumped startled when a banging sounded from his front door. He yawned wiping the sleep from his eyes as he leisurely strolled to the door.

The banging grew harder and louder as he reached the door and yanked it open to find Jaiden and Dayne standing there both their blue eyes rimmed red. The walked through the door and Chase frowned and closed the door following them to the living room.

“Leila’s missing,” Dayne said and Chase’s heart skipped a beat.

“What?” he asked taking a step closer to the boys, who both looked exhausted “What do you mean she’s missing?” he asked.

Jaiden rubbed his temples tiredly. “She hasn’t been home in days, her cells off, and her cars been found her windows smashed.” He explained and Chase blinked.

“Have you spoken to Adrian?” Chase asked and both boys nodded.

“Yeah, we went there, he said they broke up three days ago and he hasn’t heard from her since. Has she called you?” Chase shook his head.

“No, the last time I saw her was that day you called me and I went to find her. She was going to Adrian's”

“We’ve been looking for her everywhere. My parents are going out of their minds.” Dayne said worriedly. “Where the hell is she?” he asked and Chase leaned on a wall to support himself as his legs were shaking frantically.

“I don’t know. Let’s go back to your house maybe we can find something in her bedroom.” Chase said and both boys nodded before they all rushed out to the Callaway manor.

**

“Isabelle, calm down sweetie.” Kelly said trying to calm a frantic Isabelle.

She shook her head. “No, something’s wrong.” She said pacing back and forth.

“You don’t know that for sure, sweets.” Dru said watching her pace back and forth. The whole family were out looking for Leila for the past three days. Kelly, Josh their son Kyle plus Dru his husband Keenan and Chase.

“Dru’s right Isabelle we could be worrying for nothing.” Josh told her and she shook her head again.

“Leila doesn’t disappear for days on end without getting in touch or telling us first. God what if something’s happened to her?” she cried.

“Baby, shh don’t worry yourself. We will find her I swear to you.” Jordan assured his wife while she cried into his chest.

“It’s been more than twenty-four hours maybe we should call the cops?” Chase suggested and they all nodded.

Jordan pulled out his cell phone ready to dial the number when the maid walked in informing them of a phone call.

“Mrs Callaway a phone call for you.” she said and Isabelle pulled out of her husbands arms and took the phone.

“Hello?” she said quickly.

“Hello Isabelle.” A deep voice said from the other side.

Isabelle frowned. “Who is this?” she asked with a frown.

The other person laughed haughtily. “You disappoint me Isabelle. It saddens me that you would forget me so quickly.” He said clearly amused.

“Who are you?” she asked again and looked at Jordan who was watching with a frown.

She heard him sigh on the other line. “I bet you’re really upset right now huh, what with Leila missing and everything.” Isabelle’s heart began beating faster.

“What do you know about my daughter?” she asked and Jordan moved to her side up hearing about his daughter.

“Well, only that she’s safe but I can’t promise for how long.” Isabelle’s heart began beating hard in her chest.

“Where is she, what have you done with her?” she asked quickly.

“She’s right here.” He said and went silent. A second later Leila’s voice rang in Isabelle’s ears. “Mom…?”

Isabelle gasped. “Leila, are you okay?” she asked quickly and Leila sniffled.

“I’m fine, mom. I’m so sorry-” she was saying but got cut off.

“Leila, LEILA?” she yelled into the phone. By now the whole family were on their feet. Isabelle heard a laugh again. “Look, if you want money just name the price and we will give it to you. Just please don’t hurt my daughter.” She cried.

“No, Isabelle what I want is worth a lot more than money.” He said coldly. Isabelle inwardly shuddered at the tone of his voice.

“Whatever you want just let my daughter go you son of a bitch.”

Isabelle heard him tatter on the other side. “You haven’t changed at all have you; you’re just as insolent as you were back then…Isa.” Isabelle’s blood ran cold when she heard that nickname. Only one person called her that.

“Rick…” she said in disbelief.

“Yes, Isa it’s me, boy I would love to see the look on your face right now.”

Isabelle’s blue eyes met Jordan’s “No, it’s not possible, you were dead. How-“

“I told you baby, never underestimate me. You should have made sure I was really dead before you left.” He told her and Isabelle

“What do you want?” she asked lowly.

“What I’ve always wanted…you.” tears streamed down her cheeks and her heart clenched painfully. “If you want your daughter unharmed I suggest you listen and listen well. I want you and only you to come to the address I’m going to give you. If I see any cops or your husband I will put a hole through your daughter’s pretty little head, you got it?” He asked and Isabelle nodded. “I asked you a question?” he said icily.

“Yes.” She said weakly and hung up the phone. She lifted her eyes which were pooled with tears and looked into her husband’s eyes.

“Mom, who’s Rick?” Jaiden asked with a frown.

“How much does he want?” Jordan asked coldly. Isabelle shook her head.

“He doesn’t want money.” She told him and Jordan’s brown eyes widened upon realisation.

“No, no way. We will get the cops to handle this…” he said pulling out his cell but Isabelle stopped him.

“You can’t, he wants me alone. If I turn up with cops or even you he will put bullet thoughts Leila’s head, don’t take his threats lightly Jordan because he will see it through.” She told him and Jordan shook his head.

“Isabelle, I thought you said he was dead?” Kelly asked standing beside Jordan.

“I thought he was, I don’t know how he survived.” She told her and Kelly looked at Jordan who had tears in his eyes. He wasn’t stupid he knew what Rick wants from her. He’s going to kill her and get revenge for she did to him all those years ago.

“What the hell is going on?” Jaiden asked his parents. “What aren’t you telling us?” he asked his blue eyes burning with anger.

“Rick was someone I knew a really long time ago. He’s not a very good person. I betrayed him and now he’s back for revenge. He has your sister and wants me in exchange for her life.” Isabelle explained leaving out the part where she tried to kill him.

“What did you do to him that was so bad that he wants revenge?” Dayne asked and Isabelle looked at all the adults in the room.

“This man made my life a living hell. He forced me into doing things I didn’t want to do.” She said looking up at Jordan who met her gaze and nodded. “He made me lie to your father, and scam him for seventy thousand dollars; he swore that if I got the money he would let me go. But he didn’t, instead he took me away from your father when I was pregnant and tried to force me into aborting your sister. I made him believe that I had gone through with it and one night we got in a tussle. I shot him and set fire to his house. I was sure he was dead but I guess I was wrong.”

“So now he wants to kill you?” Chase asked and Isabelle nodded.

“Yes, and if I don’t show up alone he will kill Leila.” She said and Chase nodded.

“You can’t go alone.” He said straightening. “What happens if he kills both you and Leila?”

“I won’t let that happen.” She said shaking her head. “I’ll make sure Leila is safe.” She told him.

“I can’t believe you’re actually considering this?” Jaiden said in disbelief. “He’s going to kill you mom. You have to call the cops.”

“I can’t, I won’t take that chance. I would gladly lay my life on the line if it meant saving one of my kids.”

“Isabelle, you are not going alone.” He said sternly.

“Jordan there is no other way. Please don’t fight me on this.” She said and Jordan glared at her for a moment before taking her hand and pulling her along with him to where they can talk in private.

Jordan opened the door to his office and dragged Isabelle with him before slamming it shut and pressing her into it. Isabelle gasped when her back met with the hard door. “You can’t do this to me, not now.” He said his eyes filling with tears.

“I have no choice. I have an hour Jordan please don’t make this harder than it already is.” She said her own eyes pooling with tears.

“Isabelle, how do you expect me to let you go knowing you’re going to die.” He asked swallowing the lump which was growing rapidly by every passing second.

“You think I want this, I would give anything to change things Jordan but I can’t get out of this one. Once I get Leila out of there, there’s no saying what’s he’s going to do to Me.” she said tears streaming down her cheeks.

“I’m coming with you. I don’t care what you say. I will wait until Leila is out safely then I’m coming in after you.”

“No Jordan, you can’t. If anything happens to me I need you to be here for the kids. This is my problem and I have to deal with it.”

“I’m not letting you go alone.” He said and Isabelle opened her mouth to speak but he shook his head.

“No, you can’t ask me to sit back let you die I won’t. I can’t live without you, I need you baby. I need to see you every morning before I go to work, I need to taste your sweet lips, I need to lose myself in your eyes please don’t do this to me, don’t, you can’t.” he cried slamming his hands on the door above her head.

(Un-break my heart Toni Braxton)

Isabelle raised her hands and wiped the tears that fell from his eyes. “No matter what happens I need you to be strong okay. I want you to swear to me that you will be okay.”

“No I wont be okay how can I be without you by my side.” he said cupping her cheeks and gazing into her eyes. “I didn’t get you back to lose you all over again. If you die I will die right along with you.”

“Don’t say that. Please don’t talk like that.” She cried. “I love you, just remember that. Find comfort in the fact that one day we will be together again.” She said kissing his lips as tears slipped passed both their eyes.

Jordan ached deep within when he felt her lips quiver beneath his own. He wasn’t going to let her die. He wouldn’t survive without Isabelle right there beside him.

“I have to go Jordan.” She sniffled and reached up and kissed him. Jordan held her to him tightly.

“Please don’t do this, please I’m begging you.” he said falling to his knees holding her around her waist. “Don’t leave me.” he cried.

Isabelle whimpered falling to her knees too looking him in the eyes. “I’m doing what I have to for our family Jordan. Just promise me you will be okay please?” she cried.
Jordan nodded, “I love you, baby, I love you so much please don’t ever forget everything we shared and all we used to be.” She said tears falling from her eyes like waterfalls. “Oh God,” She whimpered and fell into his arms sobbing. She pulled back and looked at him. “If I die, I want you to take my ashes and scatter them on the beach where we first made love…okay?” she asked and Jordan jaw clenched.

“Don’t say things like that please, you’re not going to die.” He told her his voice breaking from emotion. “You’re gong to come back and I’m going to take to the beach and we’ll make love there again.” Isabelle smiled through her tears.

“I’ll wait for you, right there.” She told him before melding their lips together in a searing kiss. The door opened and Dayne and Jaiden walked in. a look of sadness and sorrow in the depths of their blue eyes.

“Mom, dad?” Jaiden said taking a step towards the lovers. Isabelle pulled out of Jordan’s arms and moved over to her son. The look in both his parent’s eyes told Jaiden all he needed to know.

He shook his head his eyes filling with tears. “No, mom please you can’t do this. We won’t let you; you can’t just decide something like this. I-I’ve only had eighteen years of you I wont let you go not like this.” He cried and closed his eyes when Isabelle touched his face.

Her heart shattered into a million pieces to watch her sons cry. “Listen to me, I don’t have a choice. This is something I have to do, please try and understand that. No matter what happens know I love you. I want you to look out for your sister for me okay?” she asked and Jaiden nodded. “Come here baby.” She said pulling her into her and hugging him she buried her nose into his neck to remember the way he smelt.

She pulled back and looked at Dayne who was looking at his feet. Isabelle stepped away from Jaiden and stood in front of Dayne. “Dayne look at me…” she said and watched as he shook his head.

“No, I don’t wanna remember you like this, I’m not going to say goodbye I won’t.” he mumbled tears streamed down his cheeks even though he was trying to hold them in.

“Dayne, you might not have my blood running through your veins but I love you like you’re my own. I always have sweetie. Don’t hate me please, I would never dream of leaving you all but I have to save your sister. I will always be with you all, when you think of me don’t cry, just smile and remember the good times we all shared together.” She said hugging him curling her fingers at the nape of his neck. “I love you honey, please look after your father for me okay?” she said her voice trembling with each word. Dayne wordlessly nodded and Isabelle slipped away from him.

She pulled the door open and hurriedly walked out of the room and rushed down the hall toward the front door. She just about stepped outside when she heard Kelly’s voice screaming her name. “ISABELLE DON’T!” she cried as Josh held on to her while she tried to break free and run after Isabelle.

She stood still in her spot looking at her family all crying and pleading with her not to leave them. Through them all she saw Jordan, the love of her life, the father of her children looking at her with more pain in his eyes than she ever saw.

Their eyes still locked Isabelle hadn’t even realised he was walking toward her until she felt his arms around her waist and his lips pressed to hers. He lifted her off the floor while his lips devoured hers for the last time.
Isabelle pulled away form the kiss and pressed her forehead to his while gazing into his eyes. “I’ll love you forever.” She whispered to him.

Jordan closed his eyes. “I’ll love you for always.” Tears streamed down his handsome face when she pulled away from him. He held her hand tightly not letting go. Isabelle shook her head and he let go and once again watched as she walked away but time she wasn’t only walking away, she was walking to her death.

Jordan watched as she got in the car and drove away through the gates. He reached back and pulled out a silver gun and held the cold steel between his fingers…
