And the winner is.....me!!

WHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!

I won a writing challenge. I didn’t even tell the Loyal about it. WHHHHOOOOOOO! Happy dance, happy dance. I find this totally amazing because out of all the other stories listed, I have absolutely no reviews.

Oh no, the negative thoughts are seeping in. Maybe no one else entered into the same category. Errr. Screw it. I WON! WHHHHOOOOOOO.

Anyway…now that’s off my chest.

This is what I did.

Summary:

In the future, is it easier to make a good solid citizen than to raise one. Re-education is more acceptable term than a personality rape. Internal Affairs police the city grid, keeping order and maintaining the status quo. Harry Milton thought he knew his position in the world, until he, as one of IA’s finest, starts having flashbacks to another time; another love and another life. Is the man he is now, better than the boy he was and is he going to be allowed the chance to find out?

Excerpt:

A small timer sat before her ticking almost noiselessly while she stared down at the vidscreen, scrolling through reports and the like. While my cipher had allowance me admittance into her sanctum, I had yet to be acknowledged so I stood at attention staring past her into the black wall's shiny surface. My face was shooting hot flames up into my eye that was swelling shut.

The timer gave a tiny bell voice then silenced -- a scream for the dying and dead. Siren pressed her thumb to the security plate at the bottom of her file, authorizing whatever she needed to, then she tossed it behind her and leaned forward. "At ease. I am glad that you are punctual, Agent Hacker. From what I saw, I expected you to be seriously late."

Her almond shaped eyes darkened to a smoky brown as she leaned forward. Her crimson tinted lips thinned into a predatory smile, "From looking at your files, I would never have pegged you as someone into that sort of game -- so what else do you do with Rex that makes him so wild for you?"

"You said that the mission was a Priority One. I didn't think I was called in to answer questions on my sex life." What am I doing hanging around here? Just do her and be done with it. Bam Bam and I’m gone.

Siren stepped around her desk walking purposefully toward me. She stopped mere inches from me, close enough to rest the tips of her breasts against my chest. Her hands reached up and caressed the side of my face then lingered on the bruised areas. My broken face was hot pulsing agony but her touch was burning ice. "Everything about you belongs to the Agency. What brand you drink. What size boot you wear. Your sexual orientation and preferences.. And in this sector....I AM the agency. You will answer immediately and if I have to repeat a question...well let’s say you wouldn’t like to know what would happen. Now, answer me.’

"He says that you gave me to him."

"I did. Your skills complimented each other. Your records were impeccable. The psych reports indicated that you would be compatible with each other. You shared the same sexual orientation....you seem to play the same type of game...so when a request for a transfer comes across my desk, I start wondering,’

"I looked at your service records and noticed that performance has dropped 3% within the last three months. You've taken seven drinking binges since the beginning of the New Year. Rex has had to go in for more maintenance on his cybernetics. His filed reports are less than IA standard. This all comes down to the last surgery he had. Watching your little scene explains why you want out."

"Permission to speak freely."

"Denied."

She walked behind me, her hand still trailing the bruises just above my body armor. I forced back my apprehension when her touch shifted below my waistband, first across my backside then around my hip. I caught her hand as she trailed towards my groin and pulled it away -- enough was enough. "No? You are the first to refuse me in a long time, Hacker."

Siren began to pace around me, swaying her hips from side to side. I had no choice but to follow her dance as we revolved around each other like hyenas from different packs, unsure whether to mate or to slaughter. I matched her stare with a cultivated look of one eyed confidence. Any faltering on my part would leave me dead, in Internal there were no reprimands...and as she said, She was Internal in this sector

"You drink a lot, have you ever looked into the reasons for that?" Another statement. She lifted her other hand toward my face.

I let go of her wrist and stepped away, "I don't let my social activities interfere with my work."

"True...why do you need alcohol so badly?" Siren walked back to her desk and perched on it, her eyes still pinning me. "Are you mourning your lost love? Trooper Anderson? Tesa is a remarkable girl."

"She was." I returned back to attention.

"Past tense?"

"She killed in that explosion that took out the High Commissioner's mansion three years ago." I let the right amount of pain seep into my voice. Oh you are good, buddy boy.

"No body was ever recovered. Don’t you wonder if she made it out?" She held out a candle of hope to a lovelorn man. Sadistic bitch.

"What do you want?" I stared straight ahead.

"Personally or Internally?" She accepted the minor victory with a direction question and a quick slide off the desk back to standing in front of me again. Her breath warmed my chin.

I looked down at her, "Wouldn't that be both?"

Siren sent me a calculated smile. An icy finger trailed down my spine, the hunter has scented its prey. "Touche. I don't know how you escaped my notice before Hacker but we will be getting acquainted,"

So this the actually submission form I e-mailed to mediaminer.org. Then I waited and waited and forgot about it. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of reviewing on that particular site. For a glory hound such as myself, that is a kick in the solar plexus. Love AFF. Mauh, Mauh Maaauuuhhhh!

Then I get this!

Summary: In the future, is it easier to make a good solid citizen than to raise one. Harry Milton thought he knew his position in the world. Is the man he is now, better than the boy he was and is he going to be allowed the chance to find out?

Now, the big question probably is, what the hell am I doing? Street credibility. The next time I get ready to send my work to a publisher, I want to be able to state that my work has been recognized within the self-publishing internet community. That might not meant a crate load of chickens, but I feel I’m making steps in the right direction.

So…I’ve got excerpts of Cake and Cinnamon entered into another contest, Some Kind of Wonderful – in a romance category. Why? I think this is more than a vampire/rape/violence story and I am trying to show that my current obsession – the Lord Emperor Vampire series, is romantic, tender and tear worthy. I’m actually begging, yes, I said begging for the Loyal to assist when I get more information about nominations and voting for the SKoWAwards.

Whooo oooo. I won! I need some pocky to celebrate.
