EPISODE 14
EPISODE 14
Carl began to wrap the gifts that he got for David’s birthday. While wrapping he thought about his father. He wondered if what he saw was real. Could he actually be alive? Carl wrapped the last gift and he put them in his closet. He made his way out into the corridor and he stood there staring at a picture of his father. The man that he was scared of stared back. All the memories came back to Carl. Ones that he wished would go away but he knows that they won’t. Carl made his way to the kitchen to get some OJ. The mornings he hated so much but he had more things to do to for David’s party.
“Hello Carl.” His mother said. Carl looked at her and smiled. He opened the fridge and he got out the OJ. He then took a cup and he poured himself some OJ. He took a sip from his cup before putting the container of OJ back in the fridge.
“So why are you up so early?” His mother asked as she sipped her coffee.
“I have to meet up with Brian in a few so that he can get something for David’s birthday party. Then I have to meet up with Amanda to get the decorations.”
“Wow such a busy day for you today.” Carl nodded his head and he exited the kitchen.
“Brian I want to apologize for leaving like that yesterday.” Brian smiled at Liam.
“It’s no problem I was being an asshole. So how was your day yesterday after you left?” Liam recalled the day before and he wanted to tell Brian about Kimberly but he knew that Brian would most likely take her side.
“It was cool I rested checked my emails and that was all.” Liam lied like a pro. Brian smiled as Liam talked.
“I love you Liam.”
“I love you too baby.” Liam’s eyes sparkled.
“Well thank you for breakfast but I have to go meet up with Carl in a few. We going shopping for David’s party. So I’ll call you later?”
“Sure baby be careful.” Brian got up from the table and kissed Liam.
“Keep the bed warm too I might want to come back over tonight.” Brian told him. Liam smiled.
“Of course.” Liam watched as Brian walked out his door. He wished that he could just hold Brian all day and night.
“You got daddy hooked on drugs.”
“I know that honey and I hated it. I didn’t know that he would keep doing it.” Kimberly looked at her mother.
“Well he recently quit and I am going to keep it that way.”
“That’s good honey I quit too.” Kimberly laughed.
“You said that when we were living with you. Then I see you with a needle in your arm.”
“That was a mistake I have been clean for a while now. Please you have to believe me.” Amanda walked into the living room and she stood there staring at Kimberly and he mother.
“I can’t believe you mom. You just better not get daddy back on that shit cause I refuse to start picking up his shit again from his old dealer.” Kimberly got up from the couch and she made her way passed Amanda. Amanda stood there looking at Kimberly’s mom. Tears in her eyes and all Kimberly’s mom got up and walked into the kitchen. Amanda followed.
“I’m sorry for everything. You just have to give her time to forgive you.” she wiped her eyes and turned to look at Amanda.
“I doubt that will happen but thank you for the support.” Amanda smiled and left the kitchen. Kimberly’s mom stood there and she cried some more.
“Please God help me to be strong. Please God.”
Amanda bust through Kimberly’s bedroom door.
“What is wrong with you?” Kimberly looked at her.
“Excuse me?” Amanda close the door. She leaned against the wall and stared at Kimberly.
“Your mother is very sad about this and you keep rubbing it in her face.” Kimberly smiled.
“This coming from you. The one that slapped her mother at her Christmas party in front of everyone.”
“She is not my mom so this is different.” Kimberly stuck her middle finger up at Amanda. “You need to think of her feelings and not your own. You blame her for your fathers drug use but when you two came here you kept picking up his stuff from his dealer. You contributed to his use instead of helping.” Kimberly got up from the bed and got in Amanda’s face.
“Listen here you little bitch. You are a guest in my home. I can kick your ass out so fast and you will be on the street. So keep your comments to yourself.” Kimberly pushed past Amanda. “So maybe you should leave my house and go do what you have to do.” Kimberly left. Amanda stood there staring at the door.
“This is a great morning for me.” David smiled at Theresa.
“I love breakfast but I love it more when it’s being spent with you.” David told her. Theresa smiled. She sipped some of her apple juice and she noticed someone across the street. It was David’s father.
“Excuse me baby I have to use the bathroom real quick.” Theresa got up from the table and she made her way to the exit. She looked behind her to make sure that David wasn’t watching her. She ran across the street.
“What are you doing here?” She asked him.
“I’m here to see my son.”
“The one you are hiding from?”
“I thought you wanted me to see my son. Are you scared that I might tell him your secret?” Theresa smiled.
“No I’m not scared you jerk. Our love can overcome it all and I know that. So you go right ahead and go in there and tell him what you know. See how he feels when he finds out that you knew for awhile and never told him. How will he feel then seeing you in these rubbish clothes obviously keeping a secret from him?” He looked at her with disgust.
“Touché you little brat. Well now that we had our conversation maybe you should go back to David now. He might get suspicious.” David’s father turned around and walked away. Theresa turned around and made her way back to David.
Brian and Carl made their way down the street. Brian needed to find a gift for David so they stopped by store after store. Brian decided to get him an outfit. They made their way to a clothing store.
“So how is Liam?” Carl asked him. Carl knew that they were a couple on the low since Henry told him.
“He’s okay I guess.” Brian told him. Brian noticed a shirt that he liked in a display window at a store and he decided to go in to check it out. Carl followed Brian in. They looked around at the stuff they had and Brian was impressed. He noticed a shirt that he liked so he grabbed it.
“How is Kimberly?” Brian looked at him.
“She’s doing good. I took her out the other night and we had a blast together.” Carl smiled.
“So do you see yourself being with her forever?” Brian was shocked a little at the question.
“I’m not sure Carl. That is something that I’m not rushing into.” Brian made his way to the pants to see what he could get to go with the shirt. He looked at the pants. Carl jumped as he felt his phone vibrate. He picked it up.
“Hello?”
“Hey there Carl my buddy.” Carl looked at Brian.
“Excuse me Brian I have to take this call.” Carl walked away from Brian.
“So my baby is with you?”
“Yes Henry he is now what do you want from me?”
“I know that Brian will be at that party for David so I want you to invite me.” Carl stood silent for a minute.
“I can’t do that it will look very suspicious.”
“Listen I want Brian and I need to be at that party to make my move.”
“Look I will see what I can do for you. I’m not promising anything though.”
“Carl you can do it so I’ll see you at the party.” Carl closed his phone and he stood there staring at Brian looking for a pair of pants. He looked at his cell phone and put it back in his pocket.
“This party has to turn out great.” Theresa told Amanda as they strolled down Central Park.
“It will be. So how was your morning with David?”
“It was amazing. I love him more and more everyday.” Amanda smiled.
“That’s great. Jordan asked me to move in with him.” Theresa smiled back.
“That is amazing. Why don’t you look happy?” Amanda sat on a bench and she stared at her hand.
“I’m not ready for that yet but I’m scared to tell him that. He might think that I don’t care about him.”
“You have to talk to him.” Theresa sat down next to her. “I’m pretty sure he will understand.
“Yeah. There is also Kimberly and her problems.”
“What you mean?”
“She is treating her mom like shit. I know that I should not judge but we don’t have the same situations. I feel her mothers pain. She also called me a bitch this morning for telling her how I felt.”
“Well she is mad Amanda. You know how that feels.”
“Yeah I do but did you know that she was buying her father drugs. She was not helping him get better but she blames her mom for getting him addicted to it. It’s wrong.”
“Wow I didn’t know she was buying him the drugs. That is not a good thing at all.” Theresa put her hand on Amanda’s shoulder. “If you need you can stay with me if you feel uncomfortable there.” Amanda smiled at her.
“Thank you. Not to cut our fun time shirt I have to call Carl to get the decorations for the party. He told me to call him at 12.” Amanda looked down at her watch.
“No problem honey I have to go anyway. You call me later after you two finish the shopping. Love you.” She hugged Amanda and they made their way out the park.
David helped his mother unpack the groceries. They put the corn in the cabinets and the soda in the fridge.
“So your birthday is coming up. Do you have anything special planned?” David looked at his mother.
“Yes I do. It is something really BIG.” David smiled.
“What is it?” His mother asked.
“I can’t tell you anything yet mom. You will see.” David kissed his mother.
“Well go to your room and get any dirty clothes you have so we can go wash.” David nodded his head and made his way to his room. He opened his door and there on the bed was a box. He made his way to it and he noticed that there was a tag on it. He looked at the tag but there was no name on it. All it said was “OPEN ASAP”. David looked around all confused. He lifted the lid off the box and he took out what was inside. There in his hand was a baby photo of a girl. He didn’t know who the girl was. He flipped the photo over and there was a message.
“THIS IS JUST ONE THING THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT. THERE IS MORE AND THERE WILL BE MORE GIFTS SOON. HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY. ENJOY THE PICTURE OF YOUR BABY SISTER.”
David looked at the picture and was confused. “My baby sister?” The photo had a date at the bottom. The month and date was scratched off but the year was still there. The year was 1986. “My sister is around my age. That is impossible.”
