Chapter 14
A policeman stood at the door of the Devilen home ringing the doorbell. There was no answer. "They left. They have been gone for a few days." Said an old woman next door.
"Did you see this young girl around here last Tuesday afternoon?" The cop asked walking to the elderly woman’s porch showing her a picture of Angel.
She took the picture. "Yes I did. I saw her go in, but she never came back out." She said handing the picture back to the cop.
"When did they leave?" He asked.
"Last Wednesday. I saw their oldest boy carrying what looked like a body." She said.
"Would you come down to the station and fill out a report?" He asked.
"Yes. If it will help find her." She said. She walked to the door and locked it and walked to the stairs.
"Here let me help you." He said and walked up the stairs to help her down.
"Thank you." They got down to the sidewalk and he helped her in to his patrol car and drove to the station.
"Ma'ma I am going to have to ask you for your name." The officer said while driving.
"Mrs. Emma Wilcons." She said. The officer called into the station so that Angel's parents could be contacted.
The phone rang. Mrs. Vampir answered. "Hello."
"This is one of the officers at the station. Could you and your husband come down?"
"Yes we can. Thank you." She said and hung up. "Mike. They have some one who saw Angel go in to that boy’s house but did not come out. They want us to come down to meet her."
"Let's go Michele." They left the house.
"Why am I still here I gave my statement." Emma said.
"We called the girls parent. We thought you might want to talk to them." The officer said as Angel's parents entered the station. "Mr. and Mrs. Vampir this is Mrs. Wilcons."
"Hello I am so sorry about your daughter." She said starting to get up.
"Please don't get up. I am so grateful that you came out and told the police." Michael said.
"Don't worry I just hope she will come home safely." Emma said. A priest walked in his clothes lightly dulled by dust.
"Whom can I talk to? I have some information about that girl who is missing." He said.
"What kind of information?" The police officer asked.
"Where they are keeping her." He said.
