City of Jaein

Chapter Three

City of Jaein

Antille would drop the man’s sword.

“ I can’t do it,” He would whisper his head would lower. Isabella would look to him and heave a heavy sigh as she picked up the blade.

“ You’re weaker than I though Antille, thought you were a beast that killed for bloodshed, but all I see is a weak coward.” She lifted the blade and with one swift maneuver the man’s head flew off. The blood sprayed and poured as the body dropped. Quickly a puddle of blood formed.

“ I may be a beast, but I am also human and what you did there was inhumane,” He would say his head still lowered but his fist forming with rage. His body shook.

(How can she call me a coward… I am just more sympathetic to the world around me, just because I am a beast does not make me shallow…)

She would turn and grab his hand and begin to drag him.

“ Come we must get out of these woods and quickly.” She would say as she continued to drag him through the brush of trees.

Antille didn’t say anything he just followed behind her. His silence made the travel through the woods awkward. He would lift his head as he watched Isabella trudge through the woods. Her head would turn and look to him for a mere moment then continue on.

The had finally made it through a opening in the forest and they slipped out to what looked to be a crowded village, or what now call it a city. Isabella would narrow her eyes at a passing villager.

“ Hey you what city is this,” She would ask him.

The man would look to her oddly and then pipe up to answer.

“ Why, it’s Jaein City…. The biggest city in the country of Shiba…” He would answer slowly.

Antille would look out and see the small houses lined together on the stone road. There were some large stone buildings most likely to be churches and castles. The rest was small cottages stack on top of each other down the street. The people were mostly made of peasants and farmers. Some guard would pass by and watch over the streets. The shops had small shop signs hanging on the roof by hinges.

Isabella would turn to Antille.

“We need to find somewhere to sleep and eat and then we move on,” her voice almost a demand.

“But, it seems like no one knows of us here, can we not stay here,” Antille would ask with furrowed brows.

“ No we can’t because soon you will change again and we will have the whole city on us,” She would bark back.

Antille went silent. She was right; if they stayed and he changed they would be in a deal of trouble. He would nod to her.

“ Alright, but where to look first,” He would ask scanning the large city before them.

Isabella would smile. “ The signs above the cottages of course.” She began to trudge down the paved roads, Antille following behind.
