She
wasn’t in the kitchen.  Not in the
dining room.  Not in the living
room.  She hadn’t even stopped there.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  Somehow she’d managed to staunch the blood
flow from her wound, probably having healed it enough so as not to drip on the
carpet.  Of course, so long as it wasn’t
life-threatening, she could have Changed and be done with it, but that would
have been too simple, and she was against the human half anyway.

He
followed her scent all the way to the one place he’d hoped not to find it.style="mso-spacerun: yes">  The stairs. 
She’d not found what she’d wanted, so she’d gone upstairs, which meant
