Ex-Lady Drama
Vickie, Janese, and Grandma Aultmon sat on the couch talking. Janese told them about her night. She got upset all over again when she talked about the reporters and the questions about Kayla.
\"Is that why Jett is still sitting in the car,\" Grandma Aultmon asked. Janese nodded her head and looked out the window. There was a knock on the door and Grandma Aultmon called for them to come in. Jett walked in the living room and looked at Janese but she didn\'t look at him.
\"Hi, you must be Janese\'s mother,\" Jett said, sticking out his hand towards Vickie.
\"Yes I am. And you must be Jett Jackson. You can call me Miss Vickie,\" Vickie said. They shook hands. \"Janese told us about your exciting evening.\"
\"Yea, it was very exciting,\" Jett said.
\"Ma, what did you have to tell me,\" Janese asked. Vickie smiled and blushed.
\"Well, you know that Richard and I have been dating and we\'re getting married. I found out a couple of days ago that...I\'m pregnant.\" Janese\'s mouth dropped open.
\"Mommy, you\'re pregnant,\" Janese screamed. She kissed her mother and rubbed her stomach. \"How far?\"
\"About two weeks,\" Vickie answered.
\"Congragulations, Miss Vickie,\" Jett said. \"Janese can I talk to you. It won\'t take long.\"
\"Jett it\'s too late. It\'s almost eleven,\" Janese said. \"I want to talk to my mom some more anyway.\"
\"That\'s okay baby. I\'ll talk to you when you and Jett are finished. You two need to talk and get this thing situated. Come on with me in the kitchen, mama,\" Vickie said. She and Grandma Aultmon disappeared into the kitchen. Jett sat down next to Janese.
\"I know you\'re upset about all the questions about Kayla, but I need you to know that I love you and only you,\" Jett said, moving closer to Janese.
\"What will happen when we go back to school, Jett,\" Janese asked. He took her in his arms and kissed her long and hard. He stroked her hair and kissed her nose.
\"I\'ll still be with you,\" Jett whispered. \"Forget Kayla and everybody else.\"
\"Awwww, my baby in love,\" Vickie said, coming back in the living room. Grandma Aultmon came out right behind her.
\"We have to go out tomorrow and get to know one another, Miss Vickie,\" Jett said. \"You ladies can go shopping and then we can go to Capital Grill for lunch.\"
\"Capital Grill,\" Grandma Aultmon repeated. \"I heard they don\'t put the prices on the menu.\"
\"They don\'t,\" Jett confirmed, kissing Janese on her forehead. \"I\'ll let you ladies get some sleep. We\'ll get an early start tomorrow.\"
\"Goodnight,\" Janese said, kissing him on the cheek. Jett left the ladies alone to plan their shopping day.
~*~*~*
Janese, Grandma Aultmon, and Vickie shopped all morning. Jett had to meet with Plunkett so they were left alone to close down shops, spend money, and spend more money. They walked into Capital Grill looking tha\' bomb! All three ladies had on matching sheer cream dresses and had their hair and nails hooked up. The waiter showed them to their table and they were served drinks and given their menus.
\"This is a beautiful restaurant,\" Grandma Aultmon commented.
\"My, my, my,\" Jett said, walking up to the table. He had on a Gucci suit and jewerely. \"Excuse me beautiful, he said, approaching Janese. \"Do you have a man?\" Janese laughed and decided to play along.
\"Yes, I do.\"
\"Well that\'s too bad for him because I like what I see and I want.\"
\"He ain\'t good enough for me anyway,\" Janese said and kissed Jett on his cheek.
\"I\'m sitting with three fine caramel queens. I don\'t know what to do with myself.\"
\"Excuse me, Mr. Jackson, this is for you,\" the waiter said, handing him a slip of paper. Jett thanked him and read it.
Even though I tried I can\'t let go
Something in your eyes capture my soul
And every night I see you in my dreams
You\'re all I know
I can\'t let go
XOXO
\"Who is it from,\" Janese asked. Jett shrugged and handed her the paper. \"I know what it\'s from. This is Can\'t Let Go by Mariah Carey,\" Janese said.
\"Did you say can\'t let go,\" Jett asked. She nodded and handed him the paper back. Jett waved the waiter to the table and asked him who the note was from.
\"That young lady right over there,\" he answered. Jett turned around and saw Kayla sitting at the bar in a leather miniskirt.
\"God, no,\" Jett said, shaking his head.
\"Jett, what\'s wrong,\" Vickie asked.
\"This can\'t be happening to me!\" Kayla noticed that Jett knew she was there and sashed over to their table. Janese saw her approaching and became full of rage. Kayla sat down on the table in front of Jett. He couldn\'t help himself. Jett looked Kayla over from head to toe. After all she did to him she still looked good. Janese saw him and slapped Jett across his face.
\"I can\'t believe you,\" she screamed.
\"Ouch! That looked like it hurt Jetty,\" Kayla said. Jett jumped out his seat and stared at Janese.
\"What did you slap me for,\" he demanded, rubbing his face.
\"Because she saw the way you were staring at all this,\" Kayla said, spreading her legs before him. \"Tell her Jackson. You know you miss rubbing on these thighs.\" She took Jett\'s hand and put it on her leg. Jett yanked his hand away and stepped back.
\"What the hell are you doing here,\" he finally asked her.
\"I saw you and your new hooker on the news and-\"
\"Bitch! Who you callin\' hooker,\" Janese yelled, jumping in Kayla\'s face.
\"Janese back up and sit down,\" Jett commanded in a deep voice. Janese looked at him and blew up.
\"I know you\'re not sticking up for her!\"
\"Janese just sit down! There\'s no reason for you to jump in Kay\'s face like that,\" Jett said.
\"What do you mean no reason? And why you calling her Kay?\"
\"Exactly what he said bitch,\" Kayla said. \"And he\'s called me Kay for the longest.\" Janese stared between Kayla and Jett with a hurt face.
\"You gonna let her call me a bitch Jett? Are you,\" Janese asked in a calm voice. Jett grabbed his head with his hands and looked around. The restaurant had gone quiet. Even Grandma Aultmon and Vickie didn\'t feel sorry for him. Janese calmly grabbed her purse. She turned around and started to walk out. Grandma Aultmon and Vickie followed behind her.
\"Nessie, wait,\" Jett called after her. \"Janese!\" He turned to Kayla with a scowl on his face. \"Are you happy?\"
\"I said it wasn\'t over and that\'s what I meant! And thanks for talking your girl down out my face. You always were a sucker for my thighs. And yes, I\'m happy!\" Jett shook his head and went running after Janese. He made it outside as they were climbing into a taxi cab.
\"Janese!\" Jett caught Janese by her arm and pulled her away from the cab. \"Baby, don\'t go! Plea-\" Janese handed him a piece of paper.
ou jou just proved to me where your heart really is,\" Janese said with tears in her eyes. \"Bye Jett.\" She pulled away from him and climbed in the cab. Jett watched hopelessly at the taxi cab until it was out of sight. He looked down at his hand and opened the paper. It was the poem he had written Janese the day they made love. He opened his other hand and saw that he was still holding the note Kayla had wrote to him.
\"Is that why Jett is still sitting in the car,\" Grandma Aultmon asked. Janese nodded her head and looked out the window. There was a knock on the door and Grandma Aultmon called for them to come in. Jett walked in the living room and looked at Janese but she didn\'t look at him.
