A/N: I've had some trouble sleeping, So I started writing again.
For the time being
It was a mixture of pressure building up with nowhere to go, followed by a horrible dry taste that lingered in her mouth. Moving made her nauseous, so she laid perfectly still, trying to control her breathing.
She kept her eyes closed; any light would trigger her impending migraine that was threatening her brain. Emily deeply regretted drinking all that wine, but at the moment she enjoyed her drunken state, to a certain extent. She hated the crying part but enjoyed the vertigo she felt at certain moments. Emily felt a sense of calm over take her, she was optimistic that she could survive her post inebriated state. Her optimist was short lived when she heard her cell phone blaring; she cringed and covered her ears. “FUCK,” The ringing of the phone was short lived as she heard a soft voice whispering. “Sorry Emily can’t come to the phone right now, she’s still asleep, if you’d liked I can take a message.” Emily opened her eyes and sat up slowly to see Rebecca nodding and writing down something. “All right then, I will let her know as soon as she wakes up. Good bye.” Emily quickly looked around, it was daylight out. She would have sworn that she would of have woken up alone, like usual. Rebecca was still in her uniform, her black work pants and a black polo short with her company logo. “If you want me to leave, I’ll go.” Rebecca inquired as she placed the cell phone back on the desk. Emily rubbed her face and shook her head, she stop shaking her head when she felt her head vibrating horribly. “No stay,” Emily uttered out as she threw the blanket off her, she noticed she was naked from the waist down. “That’s how I found ya and left ya. You were too drunk to do anything and I really don’t like sleeping with drunken women. So I just put ya to bed and you knocked out.” Emily nodded and stood up, she felt her legs weak and wobbly walked towards the bathroom. Rebecca followed closely behind and stood outside the bathroom as she heard Emily groaning. She had found the empty wine bottle in the living room after she put Emily to bed. She felt a bit guilty, she assumed the reason Emily drank was because of her. Conflicting thoughts she assumed. She wouldn’t be surprised if this was the last time she saw her. “You know,” Rebecca peeked her head inside to see Emily taking off her shirt and getting ready to jump in the shower. Emily shooed her away. Rebecca rolled her eyes, “I’ve seen you naked various times now.” Emily rolled her eyes in return and stepped into the shower. She turned the knobs adjusting the water to her liking. Rebecca continued, “In Ireland a way to cure a hangover is by burying an individual in moist river sand.” “We are nowhere near a river,” Emily shouted back. “Hey hand me my tooth brush,” Emily stuck her hand out and Rebecca uncapped the tooth pasted and added some to the toothbrush and handed it over. Emily brushed her teeth furiously, the dry taste was nauseating, and so she brushed and brushed. “Back where I used to live there’s this river that flows in the back part of the ranch my brothers and I own. We buried the youngest; we still don’t know if it worked. My dad found us as we were covering him. We all got manure duty for a week.” Rebecca sat on the toilet and took a towel from under neat the sink. She unfolded it as she heard Emily shower. Emily peeked her head out and met Rebecca’s eyes. “Are you okay?” Emily asked as she wiped the water off her face. Rebecca looked around and then back to Emily, “I’m fine, why do you ask?” Emily frowned a bit, “I would have expected you to be in here by now.” Rebecca chuckled as she placed a hand on her neck and massaged herself. “Yeah, maybe some other time. You’re still a bit incapacitated.” Emily flipped her off and continued showering. They were both silent, each lost in though. Emily recalled her thoughts of the previous night and was keenly aware ofRebecca’s strange behavior. ‘She knows something.’ Rebecca was tempted to mention Sarah, she wanted to know the dynamic of their relationship. If what they had was over, or was it still going to continue. The room was deadly silent when the water was turned off; Emily stepped out of the shower and took the towel that Rebecca offered without any comment. Rebecca stood and walked out toward the kitchen giving Emily privacy to change. Rebecca took a deep breath; she felt a headache herself coming on. She was deeply confused by the way things were turning out to be. She rummaged Emily’s fridge and took out the carton of orange juice and placed it on the kitchen counter. She proceeded to open various cabinets trying to find the cups. She found a couple of glass ones and continue looking, they looked too nice to be regular drinking ones. “Those are it, I hate plastic.” Emily walked into the kitchen wearing nothing but panties and a bra; she was toweling her hair dry. ‘God why are you provoking me,’ Rebecca nodded and looked away quickly. She wanted to ravish Emily since last night, but her intoxication turned her off, but this morning. Emily was right; she wanted to jump in and join her. Rebecca poured some juice into the cup and offered some to Emily. Emily draped the towel around her neck and took the cup. “Thanks,” she brushed her finger over Rebecca’s and drank while locking her gaze onto Rebecca’s. They were keenly aware, of the sexual tension they were building. Emily’s headache was subsiding fast. Rebecca shook her head and smiled sheepishly as she extended her hand and wiped the droplet that linger on Emily’s lips. “You’re cute,” Rebecca mumbled as she leaned in and gently brushed her lips over Emily’s. Rebecca pulled back and placed her forehead on Emily’s. “Who’s Sarah?” Rebecca uttered, Emily’s eyes widened and try to pull back but Rebecca placed a hand on the back Emily’s head and held her in place. “Rachel told you?” “Doesn’t matter what she told me. What I want to know is why I’m still here.” Emily darted her gazed to the side and exhaled sharply. “There’s nothing serious going on.” “Bullshit,” Rebecca let Emily go and leaned back into the counter. She gripped the edge as she studied Emily’s face. “You like her,” Emily looked down and nodded. “A lot, a lot.” Emily looked up, “What is this high school and what do you care, weren’t you the one that told me. ‘Oh I don’t do relationships.’”
Rebecca looked away biting her lower lip, “I know very damn well what I said, what I want to know…” Rebecca furrowed her brow and stared at Emily. Emily crossed her arms as she waited for an answer. “I guess…” Rebecca took a deep breath, “I guess what I want to know is if you still want me to come over.” “Were just dating,” Emily moved next to Rebecca and poured herself more juice. “What happens when you two… you know.” “When we start fucking or when we moved in together. When what?” Emily drank her juice fast this time and placed the glass in the sink afterwards. “Yeah that when you two get ‘official.’” Rebecca pushed herself off the counter and followed Emily out of the kitchen and back into the room. “I guess obviously then we ‘officially’ should stop seeing each other.” Emily slid the closet door open and rummaged through her clothes for something casual to wear. “So you can date and fuck other people at the same time. Even I’m not that callous.” Emily turned around sharply evidently very offended. “I mean-,” Rebecca tried saving face, “I mean-“ “I know very damn well what you meant.” Emily pointed her finger accusingly at Rebecca. “You are not a fucking Saint. You’re not perfect, and neither am I. You’re the one that started this mess, and I’ll be damned if I let you paint me as the bad guy.” Rebecca held her breath, hoping that things would not escalate to worse. Emily huffed and turned around gathering her clothes. She heard Rebecca exhale and turned around again, “And one more fucking thing. What Sarah and I do it’s none of your god damn business. I’m dating her and not you. If we fuck it’s not your business. What we do does not concern you. At the moment she and I are just dating. We are trying to get to know each other. If things progress to something more serious, then yes. You and I are done.” Emily unbuttoned a light pink blouse and slipped into it, followed by some jeans that snugly hugged her figured. Rebecca sat on the bed, letting Emily’s words sink in. She looked up and beckoned Emily to get closer. Emily rolled her eyes annoyed but complied. She stood in front of Rebecca and Rebecca proceeded to button up Emily’s blouse. “By the way Sarah called she wanted to invite you to a late play at the community college amphitheater tonight. I wrote down the address in case you wanted to drop by.” Rebecca curved her lips upward giving Emily a sad smile, which did not go unnoticed to Emily.
