Chapter Thirteen.
“Maki, what is it?” Naoya asked from his end of the line.
“Naoya last night I--” Makoto was knocked out from behind before he could finish telling Naoya anything. He fell to the ground with a thud. The phone in his hand landed right next to him, only to be crushed by the black leather shoe worn by the man who knocked him out.
“MAKI! MAKI!” Naoya kept calling his friend’s name frantically right until the phone was crushed.
“What's wrong?” Rei asked, seeing the worried look on Naoya’s face.
Naoya grabbed his coat and headed toward the door. “Something happened to Maki when he was just about to tell me something,” he answered as he opened the door to leave.
“Wait! If you want to go to England I'll go with you,” Rei said as he went over to Naoya.
Naoya smiled, “Thank you Rei but it is best that you stay here. I don't want anything to happen to you.” With that said, he left.
“I'm more worried about you than about me,” Rei muttered as he ran after Naoya, letting the door to his apartment slam shut on its own. On his way down the stairs he ran right into someone’s chest.
“Sorry,” Rei apologized as he went around the man, but the man grabbed his wrist, stopping him from chasing after Naoya.
“What the hell do you want? I already said that I was sorry!” Rei asked the man in a sharp, angry tone.
“Sorry, this won't take a moment boy. I just want to know if you can tell me if Naru Fuyuki lives here?”
That got Rei’s attention. He looked at the man closely. “And who are you?” he asked in a suspicious tone.
“I'm the officer investigating the murder of a woman named Miku Fuyuki. We found her body last night, and would like to ask her brother a few questions,” the man replied with his badge in one hand.
"Fuck," Rei muttered silently. Great, a police detective. Just what they needed right now with all this shit going on. He looked the police detective in the eye. "I don't know who Naru is, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell you,” he said and turned around to return to his apartment.
“Why?” the man shouted after Rei.
“Because I hate people who are in your line of work. Enough said!” Rei replied sharply, making his dislike for the man quite clear as he continued towards his apartment.
“Withholding information from the police is a crime. You know that don't you boy?” the man shouted again, not willing to give up on his lead.
Rei stopped in front of his door with one hand on the knob.He turned to the police detective. "Really? It is also a crime for the police to accuse an innocent man of a crime he did not commit,” he said, then he entered his apartment.

Naru looked down at the lobby below him, and watched as Christopher carried a Japanese man who seemed to be sleeping. He couldn’t help but think that the man who Christopher was carrying in his arms looked a bit familiar to him. Where had he seen that man before, he wondered, and why was Christopher carrying the man? Wanting answers, Naru made his way down to the lobby.
“Christopher!” Naru called. He caught Christopher just in time before he stepped out of the building with the man in his arms.
“Naru,” said Christopher. Then he saw where Naru’s eyes were looking. He quickly explained.
"I found him in the men’s washroom and when I saw the deep cut at the back of his head I--" Christopher explained.
Naru could see the blood seeping out of the back of the man’s head. “You need to get him to a hospital as soon as possible Christopher!” he interrupted. “Hurry before the man bleeds to death,” he urged and pushed Christopher out of the building.
“Where is Christopher going?” Naru heard his boss ask from behind.
“He is taking an injured man to a hospital,” replied Naru as he watched Christopher get into his car and drive out of the parking lot.
“Really? That is quite a surprise I must say,” remarked Ryuu before walking out of the building.
“Boss, where are we going?” Naru asked as he followed his boss out of the building.
“Back to the hotel to pack,” Ryuu answered without looking back.
“Boss are we leaving already? That sucks! I was looking forward to spending more time here. You haven't taken me to all the places I wanted to go yet. Why must we leave now?” Naru complained.
This time Ryuu turned around to face Naru. He put one hand on Naru’s shoulder and he used the other to lift Naru’s chin up so that they were looking directly into each other’s eyes. “Don't look so disappointed Naru, we are not leaving England yet. Not until the end of the week,” Ryuu explained.
“Then why are we going back to the hotel to pack?” Naru asked softly, his eyes filled with bewilderment.
“I'm taking you to my mansion here in England,” Ryuu replied with a smile.
“W-what? you have a mansion here in England? How rich are you Boss? Next thing I know you will be telling me that you own an entire castle in Scotland,” Naru said, his eyes wide with surprise from what he had just heard.
“I don't own a castle in Scotland Naru,” Ryuu lied with a straight face.
“Well that is to be expected Boss. After all, you’re Japanese, how is it possible for a Japanese man to own a castle in Scotland?” Naru said with a giggle.
“Umm... Naru, only my great grandmother is Japanese. My great grandfather, let’s just say he came from a different country,” said Ryuu, not willing to reveal the name of his species.
Naru’s mouth hung wide open and his eyes got bigger with what he just heard. “Y-ou are a-”
“Yes I am Naru,” Ryuu answered before Naru could finish his sentence. “Ryuu is my middle name. My first name is Stefan and my last name is hard to pronounce so I won't tell you,” he whispered.
“Damn you Boss, you should have told me. When I first met you, I thought for sure that you were not full Japanese. However I quickly threw that thought away because you speak way better Japanese than me!” Naru wailed to his boss.
Ryuu was having a fun time seeing Naru’s pissed off face. He wished that he could just stand here all day and tease Naru some more, but he had to put an end to it if he wanted to make it to his mansion before nightfall.
“Naru, as much I like to see you pout, we need to get going. I want to arrive at my mansion before nighttime,” said Ryuu.
“Alright Boss, but you better watch your back. Once we arrive at your mansion I am so going to get you back for the wonderful news you just broke to me,” Naru warned his boss. Then he walked ahead.
“Shit,” Ryuu muttered. Now how the hell was he going to survive until the end of the week if he had to constantly watch out for Naru’s pranks? He ran after Naru as a man in a black jacket watched them from afar.
When they arrived at the hotel, Naru started packing while Ryuu gave Christopher a call.
“Hello Christopher? Naru told me that you were being a good Samaritan today, taking an injured man to the hospital,” he said in a sarcastic tone.
“I had my reasons,” replied Christopher from his end of the line as he relaxed in his comfy lounge at his home.
“What were your reasons Christopher?” Ryuu asked from his end as he tossed one of his shirts to Naru, who caught and folded it before he put it in his suitcase.
“I'll tell you Ryuu if you promise not to laugh,” Christopher said as he reached to his side for the glass of whiskey sitting next to him.
“I promise,” Ryuu said as he tossed Naru another one of his shirts.
"All right, since you promise not to laugh. The man I took to the hospital, he is my life mate Ryuu. Can you believe it? Out of all the damn places in the world, I had to find my life mate in the washroom of my company building."
Despite his promise to not laugh, Ryuu couldn’t help but roar out in laughter. “Damn Christopher, that is funny as hell! It’s the first time I’ve ever heard of our kind finding their life mate in a washroom,” Ryuu commented as he laughed.
“Damn you Ryuu, you promised not to laugh,” Christopher muttered from his end of the line.
“It can't be helped, it is the funniest thing I have heard for a long time,” replied Ryuu as Naru came walking towards him with a frown on his face.
Naru snatched the phone from his boss’ hand and in a sweet voice he said, “Hello Christopher, I'm sorry but my boss is going to have to continue the conversation at another time. Right now he has some packing to do.” With that said, he hung up and slipped the phone into the side pocket of his white jeans.
“Boss, wasn’t it you who said that we had to get to your mansion before the sunset?” Naru gritted out.
“Yes,” answered Ryuu, not liking the look on Naru’s face one bit.
"Then start packing your own damn suitcase, you lazy excuse for a boss!” Naru snapped angrily. “Damn it, I feel more like your wife than a secretary,” Naru added before he stalked into the bathroom.
Ryuu started folding his clothes and putting them neatly into the suitcase just like how he had seen Naru doing. There wasn't that much left for him to pack since Naru had gotten most of the clothes folded and placed neatly in the suitcase. He was almost done when he heard Naru call him.
“Boss, get in here!” Naru called from inside the bathroom in an urgent voice.
“What is it Naru?” Ryuu asked as he walked toward the bathroom.
Naru swung the door open just as Ryuu reached for the knob. “Boss, the shower isn't working. I was thinking of taking a shower before we left.” He informed Ryuu.
“Let me check,” Ryuu said as he made his way over to the shower. He missed the mischievous smile on Naru’s face.
As soon as Ryuu turned the shower on, freezing cold water came pouring down, taking him by surprise. “Fuck!” he shrieked as he tried to turn the freezing cold water off. At last he finally succeeded, and that was when he heard Naru’s laughter. He flashed Naru a furious glare. “Not working huh? It seems to be working fine for me,” he muttered.
“I warned you earlier Boss didn't I?” remarked Naru, grinning at his boss.
Ryuu stalked towards Naru in his wet clothes. Naru made a dash out of the bathroom to escape his boss’ wrath, but Ryuu proved to be too quick for him. Soon he found himself lifted and carried to the bed.
“Damn it Boss, I am a man too! Why is it that you can just pick me up and carry me like I weight nothing at all? It is so damn unfair,” Naru complained when Ryuu dropped him on the bed.
“It’s simple Naru. I'm just stronger than you,” Ryuu answered.
Naru knew what his boss was thinking, and before his boss got the chance to do it, he rolled out of bed, grabbed his suitcase and raced out of the room yelling out to his boss. “I will be waiting downstairs for you Boss,” he yelled with laughter.
Ryuu ran his fingers through his smooth black hair with a smile on his face.
