Even though Roy had pushed his phone bill through the roof with all those long conversations with Drake, he was anxious as he stepped into the hall of the airport. After all, what did he know about him? Of course, his worries were unnecessary. As soon as he stepped through the doors with his luggage, he heard his name shouting through the hall. Drake elbowed a path through the other people, and grabbed him in a suffocating embrace.
“Roy... You made it!”
“Drake! Ouch...” Roy laughed breathlessly, struggling a bit to get some air. “Did you miss me?”
“Miss you? That doesn’t describe it enough, baby. You have no idea how much I missed you.” Drake lowered Roy, but kept an arm firmly around his shoulders. He took both bags in his other hand, and led him to the exit. “We’ll take a cab,” he said. “That way we can cuddle and talk without causing accidents.”
“Good idea... Are we going to your house?”
“Oh, yes. We’ll go out later if you want to, but first we’ll be together. I’m afraid you won’t see too much of London this weekend.”
Roy crept next to Drake, wrapping his arms around the full waist. He looked up at the man’s face, glad he remembered every detail. He was still in love. Drake was still his dream guy. “I’m so glad I can hold you again,” he sighed.
Drake pulled his arm around his shoulders, leaning in to kiss him warmly. “It’s just not the same on the phone, hm?”
“Nope; incomparable. I love your voice and sweet words, but I need the rest to complete the picture, don’t I...” With another soft sigh, he cuddled up even closer. “I missed this so much...”
Smiling, Drake rested his cheek against the soft hair, and closed his eyes. They sat like that the whole way to Drake’s apartment, without talking much; simply enjoying being together again.
Drake’s home was a small apartment with only one bedroom. It was sufficient, but even smaller than Roy’s in Amsterdam. Roy looked around, quite surprised. He tried to hide his disappointment. In his daydreams, he had moved in with Drake... That would be impossible here. “Nice place,” he said hesitantly.
Drake laughed. “You’re a terrible liar, darling. It’s way too small, isn’t it? Try to ignore it. All we need is a small space to be together.”
“Heh, you’re right about that... Where’s your bed?”
“Right here.” Drake opened the door, showing a small bedroom. The bed almost filled the room from wall to wall.
“It will work,” Roy shrugged. He turned to wrap his arms around the big man, and looked up. “You have no idea how much I missed holding you.”
“Actually, I think I do. About as much as I missed holding you.” It took no effort at all to lift Roy on the bed, and he followed quickly. Cuddles first. They would talk later. All they could do for weeks was talk; Drake had said enough, he felt.
Shedding their clothes, they kissed continuously. Roy loved to feel the softness and the muscles again. Their hands never stopped fondling, as if they had to remind themselves the other was truly real. When Drake rolled on top of him, spreading his legs with his broad hips, Roy was more than willing to receive him. The bear took him slowly, tenderly, making love rather than having sex. Their climaxes were pleasant but not as important as the intimacy. Drake murmured he loved him. Roy was the happiest man in the world, at that moment.
Sex with Drake was just as good as Roy remembered. He couldn’t imagine being with anyone else, anymore. It would be extremely hard to leave again. As he hugged the man, snuggled up close, his despair could be sensed in his grip. Drake understood him flawlessly. He answered the embrace with equal force.
“Next time I’ll visit you,” the bear murmured tiredly, but pleased.
“I don’t want to talk about the next time,” Roy replied. “That reminds me I have to leave you again.”
Drake laughed softly, but he wasn’t really amused. It ended in a deep sigh. “What is your home like, Roy? Is it as small as this apartment?”
“No... It’s a bit larger...” He would happily leave it behind to move in with Drake. “I hope I can show it to you very soon.”
“You can. I promise. I have savings; I will be with you as soon as possible.” Drake sealed the promise with a kiss. “I’m not going to let you go, baby... Even with a canal between us, you are my boyfriend.”
“Of course I am. But boyfriends should be able to be together whenever they want to...” Without having to take a plane or a ferry and spend all their savings. Roy sighed again, knowing he would have to work for a few months before he could come over another time.
“Don’t sigh like that, baby, you break my heart...”
“Sorry. I have this heavy feeling on my chest,” Roy mumbled. “Drake... Those two guys I had with me in Greece? They had sex together, and at home they both found someone to love.”
“They did?” Drake grinned, tensing his arms. “That’s great. Isn’t it?”
“Sure, sure. I’m very happy for them. Sander will need a bit more time I think, but Kevin seems completely happy. I didn’t have time to meet the men yet. I was... No, they were... Together. And I was busy packing.”
The bear looked down on Roy, tenderly caressing his cheek. “They’re together whenever they want to. Is that it? You’re a bit jealous because you have to cross a channel to be with me? You’d rather have me at arms reach?”
Roy couldn’t repress another sigh, and nodded. “I know it isn’t fair to feel like that. But they just discovered they like men, and they find someone at home, while I have been looking for someone like you all my life and now I have found you and you’re so far away! That’s not fair either!”
Laughing, Drake agreed. It wasn’t fair, any of it. “Would you like me to come home with you?” he asked.
“Of course I do! I want you to pack your things and move in with me, and be happy with me forever. Or I will leave everything behind and move in with you, here. I don’t care. All I want is to be with you.” He pulled the heavy body closer against him, holding Drake possessively between his arms. “And I know that’s not possible. Not sensible, either. We barely know each other. We could end up all miserable.”
“Or we could be very happy,” Drake said quietly. He answered the embrace, slowly sliding his cheek over Roy’s hair. “Do you want to be in London or Amsterdam?”
“The moon, for all I care. As long as it’s with you.”
“I like Amsterdam. I have lived there for a while, a long time ago. I have friends, there. I wouldn’t be unhappy in Amsterdam...”
“That’s settled, then,” Roy played along. “You come with me when I go home. You’re a carpenter, right? You can work in the Netherlands. Language will be no problem; everybody can speak English and I will teach you Dutch. Your family will hate me, but I don’t care.”
Drake didn’t reply immediately. He lay still, staring in the distance. “I’m not joking,” he said eventually. “My family wouldn’t mind at all; half of them live abroad. Like I said, I have savings. Even if I don’t find a job right away, I would be able to pay for everything for a few months. I wouldn’t have to give up this place immediately.”
Roy blinked once, and stared at him as Drake pushed up to look him in the eye.
“Let me ask you seriously,” Drake said. “Do you want me to come with you after the weekend? Think, and answer me honestly, Roy.”
Roy wanted to yell ‘yes!’ immediately, but he gave it some thought first, as Drake requested. His eyes were large as he thought about how it would be, to live with his dream-man in Amsterdam. He didn’t think about what his family and friends would say; they would only be happy for him.
Slowly, a broad grin appeared on his pretty face. “Yeah,” he finally answered. “Oh yeah.” His grin changed into a laugh, and he pulled Drake down to kiss him. “Hell yeah!” Happily, he showered the man’s face with kisses. “You and me, together from now on. Yes!”
“Alright, then,” Drake laughed. “We better spend this weekend packing my stuff. I have to arrange a ticket first, or I won’t be able to come with you. Can you let go of your hold for a few minutes?”
“I will be able to manage a few minutes.” It took another kiss before Roy finally let go. He was still grinning. He was going to be with Drake, at home! Life was fair after all!
