Intermission
Intermission: Thoughts of a demon servant.
When Sasha finally gets to sleep, he was literally dead to the world. It was the result of many sleepless nights when I forced him to train and work well until morning on reports other things.
So he didn’t even stir when I enter into his bedroom, open and closing the door behind me and took a sit on an empty side of the bed since he was quite fond of curling up on the left side only. For the moment, my forbidden son was laying on his side with his face facing up. Like his father before, he slept with his mouth just slightly open.
“My little boy…” I whispered as I brushed some of the odd color hair from his face to allow him to breath a bit better. He was overdue for a trim but I kept forgetting to tell him that.
My father had this shade of grey for hair. It was a lot easier to explained then being born with my kind of hair color. For almost twenty-five years, the Elders were able to believe the claim of the rare but very possible idea of one of their many children being born with some genetic mutations.
Miss Sarah was a very bright girl. After all she was able to find away for me to having a child born of me and my beloved Andrew.
The damn vampire was right to assume that I had a factor in creating this man that slept before me now. But he was very wrong on the Rochelle that I had the affair with.
It wasn’t right to call what me and Andrew had something as trivial as an affair. I loved that man with all my heart and the same could be said on how the human felt about me.
It was against Rochelle rules for a Rochelle to even think of being with anyone other then a Rochelle of the opposite sex. The Elders had insisted on the idea of keeping the bloodline strong and pure, to keep the Rochelle line as it was since the first members all those years ago.
There were… little accidents when children mixed of Rochelle and non-Rochelle blood were born but they were quickly sought out and killed along with the non-Rochelle parent. The Rochelle parent was just punished with the act of destroying their mutt children and their lovers that had a hand in creating these children.
I guess that’s one of the reasons why Andrew felt so safe sleeping with me all this time. I couldn’t give birth to mutt children.
But Miss Sarah, as caring as she was, knew that I wanted a child that was of both me and my beloved. She was willing to accept all the dangers that went with disobeying the Rochelles’ most precious rules, in order to make a lowly slave happy.
She, too, had a soft heart when it came to others’ thoughts and feelings. I was somewhat glad that my son had somehow inherited this trait from his surrogate mother but at the same time, I wished that he hadn’t since Sasha do get in the most trouble when he starts listening to that heart of his instead of using his head like a true Rochelle does.
I held my breath when my child gave a small whimper as he entered into a well played and well known nightmare.
One good thing about that damn vampire, whenever they share the same bed together, my son doesn’t experience these nightmares from the Massacre two years ago. It almost as if the vampire has the ability to block all sources of bad dreams and only allow good ones to enter into my child’s sleeping mind.
But the vampire didn’t do his job as my son’s protector when he had allowed a demon spirit to take roost in my only son’s body. Or let me know when something was wrong with my darling Sasha instead of just taking advantage of the state that he was in like he did.
If the demon spirit was allowed even a minute more to live in my child’s body, even with the demon blood in him, it would have been impossible for Sasha to have survived the exorcism.
If Sasha had died that night, I would have done more then simply stake the vampire in the heart. I would have torture him into begging for death before finally doing so.
“Cole?” I quickly eased into the shadows as I saw my child’s eyes opening only a little.
I would be the first to admit that the blasted vampire was able to make my son feel happiness and love for the first time in a long time. My baby boy was like a little puppy, he needed love and pure attention in order to thrive.
When his father, my beloved Andrew turned his back on the boy like he did, the happy smiling child that was Sasha had enter into a coma that lasted well into his twenty-fifth of life, even when he thought he was in love that spiderhead bitch, Roselyn.
I guess the vampire had done more good then not and maybe I should re-think on banning him from being with my child.
If anything else happens, I could always castrate the damn idiot. I have done it before.
I left the room as silently as I went in. My superior demon eyes didn’t fail to catch the movement in the shadows of the evil little brat that Lord Simon had given us to help out as he called it.
“You would do better but keep your nose out of where it doesn’t belong. “ I hissed a warning and growled even more at him when he failed to go back into his given room.
“Master Sasha is different from the rest of us and I will find out why and when I do, I will not be hesitant in letting the Elders know.” That was his pitiful warning before he finally escaped into his room.
I gave a small smile before I did the same. The brat may have more backbone then I originally care for. A trait that could cost me and my son’s life but it was did remind me a little of a certain little blonde boy that had stolen my heart. All those years ago.
