Killers Of The Night

My eyes struggle against the darkness. I am finally able to get them open and look around. I sit up quickly and look around it was not a dream. My hand goes to my neck. I quickly get off of the bed and rush for the door. Valuchek appears there and grabs me. "Where do you think you are going my dear?"

"Let go of me." I say struggling.

"Never." He says pulling up against him. He looks right in to my eyes. I am hypnotized by the look. His head goes down to my neck.

He drinks this time until she is on the brink of death. He picks her up and quickly goes to the bed and lies her down. He cuts a small wound on to his wrist and places it up against her mouth.

The blood fills my mouth and I have no choice but to swallow or sufficate from the blood pouring in. The blood is thick and rich. I want to stop but I can't I suck at his wrist like a baby would suck at its mothers breast. After a few minutes he raises his wrist up and kisses my lips. "In a few moments my blood will hit your blood stream. Their it will kill your blood." After he says that a sharp pain goes through me. It starts in my stomach and reaches through me quickly enrapturing me in pain. I fight back a scream of pain. Almost as suddenly as the pain started it ends. I open my eyes. The room is the same but yet it is different. My senses are three times as good as they were before. I can smell the fire; I can hear a dog howl from the outside as if it were in the room with me. I can see each partial of dust fly in the air as if it were apart of a dance. Valuchek is sitting against one of the polls next to me. "I love the site of a new one just getting acquainted with their new found powers. Their eyes are wide open taking in everything and their ears are perked up like a dog listening for something in the wind." He says getting off the bed and walking around to my side. His hand caress my arm from my hand to my shoulder then my neck and gets trapped in my hair and pulls me up to him. My eyes are level with his and so are my lips. "I have waited along time for you. When I saw you dressed as a fairie princess I knew who you were and knew you were meant for me." His lips capture mine in a deep kiss. The taste was exciting, exotic, erotic, and as deadly as a vipers bit. He ended the kiss and looked right in to my eyes. His hand drifted to my hand and gently pulled me off the bed.

"I am yours for all eternity. Nothing will keep us apart ever again." I say. He smiles and captures my mouth for another kiss. He then leads me to the door and we leave his chamber and walk down to a room. The room is filled with people.

"My people I would like to introduce you to your new queen of darkness. My bride Victoria is now one of us." He says.

"No." Mornick yells. "You bastard you will burn in hell for all eternity." A man next to him punches him in the stomach. "Victoria resists the hold he has on you."

"Victoria to prove yourself make him one of us completely." Valuchek says grasping my shoulders and kissing my right temple he walks over to his chair and sits down. I walk away from him and towards Mornick. I stand in front of him; I kneel down and look straight in to his eyes.

"Don't do this. It is not you whom wants this it is him. He is controlling." He says. I ignore him and push the hair at his neck away and tilt his head to the right.

"Don't worry this won't hurt." I say softly. My head goes for his neck and my hand goes under his coat to a hidden pocket and presses a button for a transmitter. The ceiling windows are broken by people dropping and people come out of the doorways. My hand goes for the chain Mornick is tied with and pull it. My vampire strength breaks it easily. We stand together side by side and face Valuchek who now wears a face of surprise.

"What is this? I had control over your mind." He says standing.

"You never did. I have a strong mind." I say. Jackel walks up to us and hands me my cross bow.

"It is over Valuchek. Give up." Jackel says.

Valuchek grabs Veronica, whom was standing close to him, and raises my dagger to her neck. "How would you like to see her blood run by your dagger?" He asks. He pulls her towards his chamber and the vampires start to attack our people. We fight for a while. Equal numbers of both are dead or wounded. I find Mornick.

"I am going after him." I say.

"You can't. It is to dangerous." He says.

"It is my time to go up against him." I say and go off in the direction that Valuchek took. I enter his chamber and find Veronica sitting on the bed with no Valuchek around. I enter the room. "Come on Veronica lets go." I say grabbing her arm and tugging. Her neck falls back a gash in it. The blood pours out I can smell it. It is strong, metallic smelling, sweet. My canine teeth are growing.

The door slams behind me. I jump and turn to face Valuchek. "Well my dear. It has come down to this. The final battle. I will have what I want." He says rushing at me. I jump out of the way and slam my self against a wall and grab a sword off the wall and swing it at him. I cut a wound that heals quickly. I move away. He grabs a sword and we fight. I do not tire at all. "My blood has made you strong." He says. He sets a blow to my sword that is so hard that it knocks out of my hands. I am backed up against the wall and slide down the wall. He places the sword in front of me. "What do you get when you take everything away?"

The sword dives at my head. I move out of the way. The blade hits the wall. My leg sweeps him off his. He lands on his back and I grab the sword as soon as he let go of it. I am on my feet and the sword blade is sitting on his heart. "You take away everything I have ever had and all you have is me. Plain old Victoria no special names or anything. Just a little girl who knows what goes bump in the night." I say raising the sword and driving it in to his heart. I pull it out and cut his head off. I pick up the head and throw it in to the fire and watch it burn. Mornick and Jackel run in just as I faint.

"Victoria." Mornick yells and catches me.

My eyes open. "What happened?" I ask.

"You killed Valuchek so you are becoming human again. You see you were only half a vampire. You needed to taste blood to become a full vampire. But you still have all the senses and power." Mornick says.

"Veronica is dead." I say getting up.

"Her father understood that might happen. We had better get her out of here and burn the place." Jackel says. We get Veronica out of the warehouse and to a secluded spot. We then set fire to the warehouse. We watch the building burn for a while and then leave.

I look out the only window of my small apartment. My bags are packed. I am moving back to LA. I am planning on going back to the force. Work as a cop by day and kill vampires by night.

After the fire department had gotten to the blaze they found Veronicas body. It was listed as a random murder. Her father still paid the other half of the money even though she was dead. He was happy he could bury her and that she was with her mother where she belonged.

When I get to LA I am going to settle down. No longer will I be hired out to kill just ordinary vampires, but only to kill masters. I will hunt to destroy the evil. But as I watch the sun rise I start to think. We kill to survive may it be animal or time. This makes every one on this earth KILLERS OF THE NIGHT.
