Inside the Haunted

Part 13

******PLZ READ PARTS 1-12 FIRST!!!!!!!!!********

---------------------------------------------

“Okay, where are they?” I shouted once I stopped running inside the main hall. “He” didn’t answer me back, so I was stuck. I felt like I had searched the entire ship and I hadn’t found Bernie or Gus. I sat down upon the ground and drew my knees up. I put my head against my legs and started to cry.

“This is all my fault. I shouldn’t have left them alone with ‘Him’. They didn’t know about ‘Him’ at all or ‘His’ power, but I left them here like sitting ducks.” I whispered to myself.

“Where could they possibly be? I’ve searched every inch of the Seahawk and I haven’t seen them at all. They’re probably dead and ‘He’ is probably going to use them to scare me.” I groaned and held my head in my hands and stretched out my legs.

“This is bad…What am I going to do?” I asked myself. Then a thought came across my mind. I jammed my hand into my pocket and searched around for the locket, but it wasn’t there. I jumped up and searched the floor around me for a tiny glittering object.

“Oh no! Where is it? It must have dropped out of my pocket when I was running…”

----------------------------------------------

Emily at this point in the story was on the bottom floor where Madigan couldn’t go. It was completely hidden and blocked off and this would be a perfect spot to put Madigan’s friends. At least, that’s what Emily thought.

“Where are they?” she kept asking herself in the darkness. She came to the end of the long dark hallway and opened the door at the end. She gasped at what she saw.

-----------------------------------------------

“BERNIE! GUS! EMILY!” I screamed over and over again. I heard movement behind me coming from a closed door. I stopped and rested my head against the door with my ear against the door. I listened and I heard a muffled voice inside. I tried to open the door, but it was locked. How could ‘He’ lock the door if he was a spirit…unless he could turn into a human himself? I dismissed the thought from my mind and concentrated on the door. I stopped shaking the handle and pounded against the door.

“Hello? Is someone in there? Bernie? Gus?” I asked. I heard a muffled voice again and decided that there was someone in there that needed my help. I pushed against the door and jiggled the handle at the same time, but it didn’t work. Finally exasperated, I backed away from the door and paused. Gathering all of my strength, I ran full speed towards the door and threw my weight against it. I heard a crack from the door but it still wasn’t open. I tried it a few more times and I finally fell through the door to face…

----------------------------------------------------

“Sir…you’re in your human form!” Emily gasped at ‘Him’. He turned towards her, his eyes glittering with hate.

“Why does it concern you any Emily?” ‘He’ asked her dangerously. Emily shrugged and backed away a few steps towards the door.

“You’ve been helping her too much. You almost gave away my name. Ch…ie is too much of a hint. She’s not supposed to figure out my name yet Emily.” ‘He’ raised his hand, ready to slap Emily (ghosts can slap each other, but not a human.) but ‘He’ backed off and smiled.

“Why are you looking at me like that? I’m not going off on a quest.” Emily said coldly.

“Oh but you are Emily. And I’ll make sure you do.” ‘He’ walked towards her and started to summon all of ‘His’ ghostly strength.

“NO! I WON’T LET YOU POSSESS ME!” Emily screamed, ducking under his arm and running to the opposite side of the room.

“Oh yes you are. Madigan has lost her locket once again and she is completely defenseless. And you’re going to help me kill her.” ‘He’ said.

---------------------------------------------------

“BERNIE!” I screamed happily as I laid on top of the broken door. Bernie just looked at me and squirmed.

“Bernie, how did you get here?” I asked. Bernie replied, but it was muffled.

“Oh. Maybe I should untie you first…” I said. I got off of the door and walked towards him. I untied his mouth and he let out a breath of relief.

“Madigan! I’m glad to see that you’re safe.” he said. I untied his arms and his legs and he stood up.

“Okay, we have to get out of here.” he said, taking my arm. I struggled away from his grasp.

“No! I’m still looking for Gus and my friend Emily.” I said.

“Madigan, Gus is dead. I don’t know what happened to him but he…killed himself. And who’s Emily?” he asked curiously.

“Emily is a ghost friend of mine. She knew my parents. And Gus murdered himself because the ghost that haunts the Seahawk possessed him.” I said simply. Bernie just looked at me blankly.

“But…why did the ghost make Gus murder himself?” Bernie asked. I sighed and turned to him.

“Help me find Emily and I’ll tell you the whole story.” I said.

-------------------------------------------------------------

“So…let me get this straight. The ghost that haunts this ship possesses people to…what again?” Bernie asked me.

“Collect peoples souls. I think you’ve got it.” I said. We were still looking for Emily, but we still hadn’t found her.

“I’m not so sure. I don’t see what the point behind it all is.” Bernie said. I shook my head.

“I don’t know either. And I’m still trying to figure out his name.” I said. Bernie asked me about it and I told him the hint that Emily had gave me and about the memories she took me through.

“Wow…this is really intense.” he said after I finished. I nodded my head in agreement.

“Do you know who it is? Do you know the name?” I asked. Bernie thought for a moment.

“The hint is ‘Ch…ie’ right?” Bernie asked. I nodded my head.

“And it’s someone that we know?” Bernie asked. In between my head shaking ‘no’ I stopped immediately.

“No Bernie…it’s someone we KNEW. He’s gone now…he died…but that’s impossible…unless he faked his death…ghosts can do that I’m assuming in ‘His’ case.” I said, blabbering on and on. Bernie was looking at me with awe.

“Are you saying you know who ‘Ch…ie’ is?” he asked me. I nodded my head. My stomach felt sick with fear now that I had figured it out.

“Bernie…it’s Charlie!” The walls and ceiling turned bloody again and I knew I had guessed correctly.

“You called for me Madigan?” ‘He’ said. I felt like fainting. At last, I knew who ‘He’ was: it was Charlie.
