(11) Nu Meili Telahou
Jason and Norris walk into the club and glance around. They had used fake ID’s that Jason’s cousin had supplied them with nearly two years ago. Even before they had been with Michael they had frequented the clubs. Jason had convinced Norris that it would be fun one night and they had kept coming.
Norris hates clubs, he doesn’t like so many people in one place. It’s too warm, to cramped, too much everything. But for Jason he had come, and now for Michael he must. Jason takes a deep breath, enjoying the smells of the club. He likes being in crowds, likes getting attention.
Jason bemoans Norris’ sense of style, a muscle shirt with a button-up shirt left open, along with blue jeans. Norris’ fashion is like something out of a bad movie. Jason prefers name brand cotton t-shirts. He doesn’t like them to have anything on them, just loose and casual. And always dark blue jean, or black jeans. At least he fits in better with his black jeans and dark blue shirt that hugs his muscles. Norris just looks silly in his large floral print shirt.
“What about him.”
Norris points to a handsome young man sitting at the bar, to their right. The bar to the right has a long table, stools lining the outside. On the other side stands a bartender, a female who is wearing a flattering version of a black suit and who’s bleach blond hair is pulled back in a pony tail. The wall is all shelves, filled with enough alcohol to make an alcoholic happy for the rest of their lives.
Straight ahead of them is the dance floor, speckle marble floor. It’s fairly full of people ranging from twenty-one to thirty-five. There are exceptions to the rule. To the left is a nest of tables, about fifteen, and only half of them have someone sitting at them and most of them have just one person.
Jason takes a good look at the man Norris points to, admiring the view. The man looks to be about twenty-two with bright red hair and a fair complexion. He’s wearing all black. All in all, he isn’t too bad looking, but much to anorexic for Jason’s taste. Besides, that isn’t what Michael sent them there for and Norris knows it.
“Norris! I could hurt you for that. You know very well what we’re suppose to be doing. As Michael says, and I quote, ‘go to a club, find a woman, any woman, bring her to my house and fuck her. I don’t care if you each get one, or if you share one, just fuck her.’
Michael will kill us if we don’t do exactly as we’re suppose to.”
Norris sighs. He knows very well what they are suppose to do, but that doesn’t mean he has to just jump and do it. He hates clubs, hates picking of new people, hates the whole thing. But Jason loves it and he loves Jason, so he does it.
“Give me a kiss before we go?”
Jason rolls his eyes and takes a step away from Norris.
“Please. If we kiss and they all see it, which they will, we will lose all chance of find a woman. And that means that we will have to find another club, waste time in doing so, and actually try and woo a woman from there. Plus, Michael will be keeping track of how long we’re gone. He won’t like it if we’re gone too long, he’ll think we didn’t do anything but fuck each other.
No, no kissing. Hold yourself in check and save it for a lucky woman.”
“Your such a suck up, man.”
Jason grins and winks at Norris. Jason moves his attention to the crowds before them, spying a particularly lovely woman sitting by herself at a table.
“This is so my cue!”
Jason says cheerily, then he starts to make his way towards the table and the lonely woman. She has to be at least five years older than him and is wearing heavy makeup to go with her overly revealing shirt and leather pants.
Norris shakes his head as he watches Jason walk off. He’s found himself wondering lately if Jason doesn’t piss Michael off just so he’ll get punished. Jason hasn’t been the same since his mother remarried. His father left them when Jason was still a baby, but five years ago Jason’s mother remarried.
The guy seems nice enough, he works at a computer company and makes more than enough money for them to live on. But Norris noticed a difference in the way Jason started acting. It wasn’t too long after that that Jason had started coming on to him. The whole relationship had been started by Jason. Not that Norris regretted it, he loves Jason too much for that. It just seems odd.
Norris puts on his happy face, the face he wears when coming to the clubs. He searches through the people in the club, looking for a useable target. Vaguely he notes how busy it is for the work week.

“I didn’t… H-how could I?”
Michael shrugs and walks them over to the couch then sits down, pulling Nick down onto his lap.
“You did take it away, but right before that I felt a surge of power within me. It happened when you first touched me. I only know of one race that could do that, though I had thought them extinct years ago.
After the Great War they were not well liked.”
“What were they, Michael? Please, stop torturing me and get to the point.”
“But it’s so much fun to torture you.” Michael grins but settles back, holding Nick close as he forces himself to remember the past. There are some things about his past he would like nothing better than to completely remove from his mind. But, at the same time, it had made him strong enough to stand on his own two feet.
“They were called Enhancers, though they were human’s with extraordinary gifts. With a touch, whether mental of physical, they could enhance a magic user’s ability. They could even steal away, momentarily, another’s magic.
The most interesting part, and the main reason people started kill them, was the fact that they could, over time, develop the powers of the main person they were Enhancing for.”
“And you think I’m an Enhancer.”
“There is no doubt about it. Only time will say for certain, but the fact that you made my magic surge stronger when you first touched me, and then leave altogether when you wanted me to stop. Both of those are a good sign, but not nearly as good as you seeing what the shadows really look like.”
Michael sighs, it has the echo of sadness to it.
“I had a lover a long time ago that was an Enhancer. We cared for each other, but he loved another.” Michael laughs and the sadness is gone, “Not that it mattered too much, the three of us had a lot of fun. But, the two of them made a great team during battle. In the bed room, well, it was great.
But, now I have you and nothing can compare to that.”
Nick isn’t certain he wants to know what happened to Michael’s old lovers, but a bit of jealousy rises and he asks. A case of wanting to make certain no old lovers would reappear. So far has Nick fallen that he’s becoming jealous of Michael’s old lovers.
“What happened to them?”
“The one died, the Enhancer died of a broken heart not long afterwards. I wasn’t allowed the privilege to mourn them properly.”
Michael’s voice is broken as he speaks, his sadness like an aura around him. He can still remember how he felt to see his lovers die, one to a quick and painless death, the other to heart break. He can still remember how his cyley had cried when she discovered that they were gone. Each time had been a new heart break for her. But she’d had about as much of an option as he had. And she had been so young…
Nick immediately regrets ever asking, the break in Michael’s voice nearly breaks his heart. Why is he doing this? He should be hating Michael, not caring that he had caused him pain.
Nick moves back a little, and looks up into Michael’s eyes.
“I’m sorry, I shouldn’t of asked…”
“No, don’t be sorry, zorey. Their should not be any secrets between us. We have a long time to be together.”
Michael leans forward, his lips touching Nick’s. Nick sighs and lays back against Michael.
“So, what does it mean for me, if I really am an Enhancer?”
“Us being together, you’ll start to gain some of the same abilities as my people. You’ll be able to Shadow Dance yourself. Also, if I remember correctly, your link with me will mean that as long as I live, you’ll live.”
Nick closes his eyes, trying to soak everything in. Barely a week has passed and he’s gone from a normal teen to finding out that he’s an Enhancer and engaged to another man who isn’t human either. And then there is the odd relationship Michael has with Jason and Norris… That bother’s him in much the same way he had become jealous over Michael’s past lovers.
“What about Jason and Norris?”
Michael laughs, “They have their purpose. When I am certain that they will obey me, without question, I will return home and bring them with me. What I truly need them for requires me to take them away from earth. And you, if you agree to come with me.”
Go with Michael and leave earth? Hadn’t Nick wanted to leave his grandparents? This would be the perfect opportunity for him to do so. And it would also put him with Michael full time. Is he ready for that? Will he be when the time comes?
“What is their purpose?”
“My people are dying out as a race. Every few years I go and seek out one or more strong males. I make certain they are strong enough for what I need them for. I can’t have a male break down on me, or produce anything but a strong and healthy baby.”
“Y-you use them to breed with your people?”
Nick can feel Michael nod his head. He feels suddenly nauseas at the thought.
“Then I was to be included?”
“I honestly don’t know. I knew I had liked you the moment I first saw you. I think what happened was a way of testing how you would fit into my life. I’m glad you turned out to be more than the other two.
I’ve lived so long without someone that I had all but forgotten.”
What could Nick say? On one hand he felt a little uncertain. He had come close to being used as like a stud horse is used. But at the same time Michael’s words, his memories of his two lost lovers, called out to Nick’s heart and he answered back with just as much warmth, just as much caring.
Could it be that he’s actually starting to are about Michael? That maybe, just maybe, he’s starting to fall in love with Michael…
