Generalization
It's my thanksgiving (as in, I'm Canadian) so I'm going to try and update again today, but I might not. The next one might not be as interesting for some, but its all. Plot like and stuff. The one after that, I think it comes right after, makes me cringe. Bonus points if you can guess why before I upated. Games, writing and good food. Whoooot. And no work. That's even better. Read, Review and Enjoy. “This includes generalization only, because Sidhe are not single minded. They share personalities.”“As,” Paw tapped Mik’s page, “This lecture includes generalization only, as Sidhe are not of one mind. Their personalities vary as ours do. Just as…” Paw thought for a moment and looked around the living room as if he would gain some insight by doing so, “as their hair colour does.”“Why can’t we keep it simple?” Mik asked, “we’re talking to soldiers, not officers. And. Wait. Your hair colours hardly vary. Its all one colour. For each of you. That’s like suggesting there are no quirks or highlights to your personalities.”“Mik odd. But gookay.”Gookay? Both were silent for a long moment. Then Paw said, “This includes mainly generalizations only because Sidhe are not single minded. They have diverse personalities.”“That’s a lot of big words… wonder if I could even say that on cue without tripping over myself,” Mik muttered, but jotted it down anyhow, “The basics of Sidhe life are simple. They eat, they shit, they sleep and they obviously breed.”“Ohhhhh, Koln say that before,” Paw responded with a mighty yawn. “I think so, yeah,” Mik muttered, “And… that’s where I’m stuck.”“Wing it.” Paw muttered, putting his head down on his arms, “Paw tired. Paw want sleep.”“Then go to sleep. I’ll watch the mesa with Lillow and then come to bed in an few hours.”Paw whined and looked at Mik, “Buuuuuutttttttt.”Nightmares, right. Mik had completely forgotten about the return of Paw’s nightmares, what with the baby and all. The Sidhe trembled all over nightly and at times was afraid to close his eyes. Mik had tried to talk him into taking something for the nightmares, that surely there was a root somewhere that would cut off the nightmares and let him get some much needed sleep. Paw had refused any kind of help and had told Mik that it was the lack of meditation. Mik was planning on telling Souse about the nightmares, just as soon as Paw fell asleep. But… Paw never really fell asleep. “Right,” Mik muttered, closing the notebook Mari had given each of the partners, “let’s grab the mesa and take … it to bed.” “Almost did it again.”“Yeah. I know,” Mik sighed, “Five years, seriously? In five years the mesa will be like. Eating rocks and taking down deer and smarter than I am.”“Uhhuh. Need quick smarts in Sidhe. Least all mesa walk off tree. All…” Paw shook his head, “Paw just tried to pluralize it.”“Like Sidhe, huh?”“Sidhe mean one. Sidhe mean two or more.” Paw muttered in response, as if one Sidhe had sounded different than the other. Mik nodded along as they moved from the kitchen and into the living room. Lillow was more than happy to hand over the squirming baby to its parents. The girl immediately left the apartment, not bothering to look back. Mik sighed and looked at the little… one… in his hands and mimicked the creature’s grin. Blue and green swirled throughout the baby’s eyes and the bits of hair that Mik could see were almost white. Considering Essuan and Paw both had dark hair, it seemed unusual to Mik that their child should have light hair. But Paw wasn’t bothered at all by it and so the people did not ask questions. Well, they did, just not around the Sidhe. The baby hadn’t grown much in its week of life. It could crawl, yes, it could digest some foods, yes. But it still had that new baby look to it. Which really confused the partners who came to visit with their Sidhe. The others were always shocked when they saw the babies start crawling about. Essuan’s baby had tried standing the other day, only to fall back onto its bottom with a whoop of giggles. Their mesa, Mik and Paw’s, thought it was good amounts of fun and giggled so hard that it fell on its side and peed itself. Babies do that.“Taln get door back. Paw talk to Souse. Souse say, yes, partners should have doors. So Taln get door back. Only a’cause Souse like him though. So Taln get door back.”Repetition was part of Paw’s speech patterns suddenly. The less sleep Paw got, the more the Sidhe repeated. Like a broken record. Both sighed, Mik as he realised how much worse Paw had gotten over the last few hours, and Paw as if he had noticed that there was something wrong. They shuffled into the nest room and closed the door. A notice to anyone watching on cameras that they wanted alone time. A non-verbal warning to Mari that Mik would likely be late the next day for work. Lillow, when she returned to the apartment, would be quieter than usual and perhaps, hopefully, the pair of them could get a good night of sleep. .
