Chapter Eleven: The Argument

--

Morning sunlight woke Edie. Moaning, her eyes gently flickered open. She slowly leaned up, having been sleeping on her side. She yawned and rubbed at her eye, trying to remember what had occurred the night before. As she remembered, a light blush met her cheeks as she turned, ready to greet Lavan. She frowned when she saw he wasn’t there. Only ruffled sheets greeted her. She felt like crying. He had left her. He had promised to stay, yet he was gone.

Sighing, Edie looked to the floor. To her surprise, she found her dress, undergarment, and boots neatly piled in front of her dresser. And there, next to her own, rested Lavan’s.

How was that possible?

Jumping, Edie turned her head towards the toiletry. She had heard a male cough. And she had recognized it to be Lavan’s.

Getting off the bed, Edie slowly went to investigate. She moved her hand along the wall before taking a peak into the toiletry. There, she saw Lavan standing naked. She got a good first look at his firm behind as he was just making sure the door to the other bedroom was locked before facing the small bucket. Edie went to leave in order to give him privacy; however, she found herself locked on to his penis.

It was no longer large and rock-hard. She stared in awe as it dangled there, small and almost fragile looking. Edie watched on as Lavan took his penis in hand and pointed it at the bucket…

Edie completely froze up as she watched the yellowy urine leave Lavan. It poured into the bucket… As she watched this, Edie felt herself growing warm again. She could not look away. The sight was amazing. It made her want to go in there and join him… However, she wasn’t sure if that was wise. Instead, she just watched on as he began finishing up. She listened to him cough as he wiggled his penis.

Quickly, Edie turned and rushed back over to the bed, knowing Lavan would soon return. She got under the covers and closed her eyes. Sure enough, she soon heard him come back out.. She felt his heaviness lower the bed as his warm arm wrapped around her. Edie took this time to pretend his movements had caused her to wake up. Groaning, she opened her eyes, turned, and stared at him. She received a warm smile, which caused her to smile back.

“Hey,” Lavan whispered as he kissed her, surprising Edie greatly. “Sorry that I woke you.”

Edie shook her head. “Mm… It’s fine.” She took his hand in hers, realizing that she was enjoying his warmth. “You stayed…”

“Of course,” Lavan laughed. He held her close and sighed happily. “I said I would, didn’t I?”

“Yes,” Edie said. “But --”

“You didn’t believe me,” he finished. Chuckling, he held her close and moaned. “Mm… Well, I’m here. And I love being here with you.” He kissed her cheek.

“I do, too,” Edie smiled. She held him close as she looked up at her window. “I wonder what time it is. I probably should get dressed and find Tonisha. She may be worried about me. I -- didn’t see her last night after Cain dropped me off, so…”

“Oh,” said Lavan. “Well, it still seems fairly early. I think the sun only just came out about fifteen or so minutes ago.”

Edie sighed. She held Lavan and giggled. “You don’t want me to leave, do you?”

“No,” Lavan whined as he attached her neck, kissing it and suckling. He heard Edie moan out as he licked up and down her smooth skin.

Feeling warm again, Edie wrapped her arms snuggly around him. She tilted her head, smiling as he pleased her. As he moved to her lips, she began kissing him in return. She was just about ready to give in to him when, suddenly, four quick, loud knocks pounded at her door.

“Edie?” she heard Tonisha call out. “Are you in there? Edie?”

Gasping, Edie accidentally bit down on Lavan’s lip, causing him to groan. She pulled away and told him to shush as he touched his lip, laughing.

“I think I’m bleeding,” he groaned.

“Sorry,” Edie quickly whispered. “I’m sorry, but you have to hide.”

“Hide?” he asked as more knocks came to the door.

“Edie!” Tonisha shouted. “Are you in there?”

“C -- coming!” Edie called back. “One second…!”

“Alright,” came a relieved call.

Turning, Edie got off the bed and rummaged through her dresser, pulling out a clean dress. She put it on over her naked body, not bothering putting on an undergarment as she grabbed Lavan’s arm. “Quickly -- hide --”

“Where?” he questioned as Edie grabbed his clothes.

“In the wash room,” she said. “And take you clothes -- and your boots.”

Lavan chuckled as Edie ushered him into the toiletry, telling him to not make a sound. Turning, she fumbled over to the door. She unlocked and opened it, greeting a worried Tonisha.

“H -- hi,” Edie yawned.

“I’m sorry,” Tonisha chuckled. “Did I wake you?”

Edie nodded. She smiled, though. “It’s okay.” She watched as Tonisha’s curious eyes looked this way and that, trying to peek into Edie’s bedroom.

“Hmm, I thought I heard another voice,” Tonisha said.

Acting confused, Edie shook her head. “No, it’s only me.” And she was thankful that Tonisha trusted her, for Tonisha gave a gentle nod before smiling.

“Well,” Tonisha began, looking anxious. “How was your dinner last night, hmm? I want to hear every detail.”

Gaping, Edie looked down. She looked back up at Tonisha and blushed. “Um, could we -- talk about this when I’m more awake? I’ll be right up after I get cleaned up and stuff.”

“Oh,” chuckled Tonisha. She nodded her head. “I’m sorry. Of course. I’ll be waiting.” She turned and left.

Sighing in relief, Edie closed the door. She turned, smiling as Lavan came out of the bathroom fully dressed. He went over to her and hugged her around the waist, pulling her close to him.

“So,” he grinned. “Any reason for lying to her?”

“I’m sorry,” she sighed. “I -- I just don’t want her knowing about this. Us. Not yet, anyway.”

Lavan shrugged. “If that’s what you want, I’ll go with it.”

She giggled. She stared up at this remarkable man. In a single night, he had given her hope to think about. He had given her so much more than she ever thought she could receive. Sighing, she held him close. She found her feet moving as she slowly starting moving with him in a gentle circle. She started dancing with him, and she could hear a light sigh leave him as he held her protectively.

“You’re extraordinary,” Edie found herself whispering. She looked up to see that Lavan was shocked. He was staring down at her with a raised eyebrow.

“Am I?” he asked.

“Yes,” Edie said. She stopped moving and placed the palms of her hands on his chest. “You’re also strange. I’ve never met a man as -- kind as you, Lavan.”

“Well, I am one in a million,” he teased.

Smiling, Edie looked up at him. “I’m being serious, Lavan. I -- I mean… I’ve never felt this close to anyone before. Not even my parents. It’s -- it’s like…” she shrugged her shoulders, almost moaning as her eyes shut.

“I know,” she heard Lavan whisper. “I feel the same way about you, Edie.”

Sniffing, Edie opened her eyes as she peered down at the floor. She eyed the fancy dress and uncomfortable boots she had worn that previous night for Cain’s pleasure. She shuttered a bit, leaning more into Lavan. “I don’t want it to end.”

“It doesn’t have to,” she heard Lavan whisper. “Edie, I am here for you. I’m not going anywhere… At least, not for a long time.”

“Do you mean that?” Edie asked as she looked back up at him. He could see that she was close to crying. He did not want this. Gently, he cupped her cheek and nodded at her.

“Yes,” he answered. “If you need me tonight, I will be here. If you need me tomorrow, I will be here. If you need me anytime, anywhere, I’ll be there.”

She believed him. Sniffing, she hugged him close. “Come back tonight?”

Chuckling, Lavan nodded his head. “I’ll be here.”

--

Some minutes later, Lavan was entering his guest bedroom. He jumped when he found his three friends sitting together on a bed. His bed, in fact. All six eyes looked up at him with concern.

“Where the hell have you been?” Roddy asked.

Sighing, Lavan closed the door as Blythe hit Roddy’s shoulder. Roddy cringed and glared at her as Pip stood to his feet.

“What he meant was we’ve all been a bit worried,” said Pip.

“You don’t have to worry,” Lavan chuckled. He removed his boots and placed them beside the door. “I’ve been with Edie all night.”

Blythe gasped. She rose to her feet and went over to Lavan. “Are you saying…?”

“Yes,” Lavan sighed. “Now get off my ass, all of you. It’s no fucking deal.”

“No fucking deal?” said Blythe as she hit Lavan’s arm. “Of course it’s a big, fucking deal. You really care about this woman, don’t you?”

Lavan went red, making his three pals whistle at him. Roddy was the loudest. He even added in a snorting laugh.

“Shut the hell up,” Lavan warned. Turning, he grabbed some new clothes and began changing in front of them, not really caring that they were there. He kept his underclothes on, and put on a fresh shirt and pants. He still had some inn work to do, including sweeping and getting tables ready for guests eager to taste Edie’s cooking. “What I do with Edie is not your guys’ business, got it?”

“We’re sorry,” said Blythe as she went back over to Roddy. She hugged him around the waist and sighed. “We just know how you feel.”

“Well, besides Pip,” Roddy teased, gaining another slap, only this time to the back of the head.

Pip frowned as he looked over at his best friend. He sighed as he walked over to Lavan. “Could I help you out some?”

“You want to help?” Lavan asked. He eyed Pip. “What about…?”

“Roddy and Blythe can handle the hunting for today,” Pip said. “I need a break from it, anyway.”

“If you want,” shrugged Lavan. He and Pip waved to their pals before heading out of their guest room. They walked downstairs, noticing a crowd was already starting to form.

Lavan went over to a stack of rags. He handed one to Pip. Pip took it as he eyed his friend. It was obvious he had more on his mind, though Lavan did not seem to notice this as he began cleaning off the counter. Pip joined in. He peeked over at Lavan through the corner of his eye every few seconds, becoming more and more eager to spill out his thoughts on Lavan being with Edie. Finally, a few magic words hit him.

“I wonder how Naltin is doing,” he said. This had done it. He had obtained Lavan’s attention.

“Yeah,” Lavan whispered.

“They are probably wondering what’s taking us so long,” Pip said. “I hope they don’t assume the worst.”

“Pip, we’ve been away for this long before,” Lavan sighed. He eyed his friend. “I am sure they are fine.”

Stopping wiping the counter, Pip held still. Lavan took his friend in, unsure where this conversation was going. He sighed as Pip whispered, “No.”

“What?” Lavan asked.

“No,” Pip repeated. He looked up at his friend. “Lavan, I can’t keep quiet anymore. Roddy and Blythe may be happy for you, but I’m not. I don’t trust Edie, and I don’t think you should see her.”

Gaping, Lavan glared at Pip. “Excuse me?”

“We don’t belong here,” Pip continued. “Forter is not our home. Naltin is. And unless you plan on bringing her back with us, it can’t work.”

Angered by his friend’s attitude, Lavan threw down his rag and glared at Pip. He placed his hands on the counter. “How dare you say that? You know what, it doesn’t matter, anyway. Edie wants me to see her again tonight, and that’s what I’m going to fucking do. You should back off, Pip!”

“Lavan,” Pip argued, setting his hand on Lavan’s arm. “We can’t stay here. It’s too dangerous, what with those Cretchens.. Especially with that one Captain knowing Edie. It -- could lead to trouble, Lavan. I don’t want you getting hurt.”

Sighing, Lavan shook his head. “I don’t care. I -- I like her, Pip. A lot. No one will stand between that… Especially not that fucking Captain Cain.”

Pulling his hand back, Pip sighed as he continued cleaning the counter. He shook his head and closed his eyes. “It sucks here. I hate it. Roddy and Blythe think we should stay a few more days in order to catch some more game, but after that, we should leave. Roddy, Blythe, you and I…”

Lavan looked away. He put his teeth together, furious with Pip’s interference. How dare he?

“Well then,” he continued. “I suppose I’ll just have to talk Edie into joining us.” He turned his head, seeing Pip gaping at the very thought. Lavan raised a questionable eyebrow at his friend as he stood tall, trying to make this conversation close to ending. “What? Is the thought of her joining us disconcerting to you?”

“It’s just…” Pip began. He sighed. “No -- I suppose not.”

“Good,” Lavan growled. He tossed his rag back onto the dirty pile before turning his back on his friend. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some sweeping to do.”

Pip watched Lavan disappear downstairs. Sighing, Pip leaned his back against the counter, eyeing the front door. He had meant every word of what he had just told Lavan, even if his best friend hated him for it. He just had this distinct feeling that Edie was trouble. She may not be a fairy, but she still was somehow casting a spell on him.

Sighing, Pip scratched the back of his head, ready to just go upstairs and relax. Pushing off of the counter, he turned his direction back on the front door, watching as it opened wide. He gaped in shock as he watched a young woman enter the inn all by herself. She took a glance around, seeming somewhat nervous. Pip grew interested in her. She was hiding under a long brown robe with a hood. It draped over her well-sewn green dress with white lace. Even though Pip could not fully make out her face, he knew that she had to be beautiful.

He watched as she closed the door behind her and shivered. It was another cold day, but it was not snowing.

Keeping his distance, Pip allowed his eyes to follow the young lady as she looked around. She seemed a bit rattled, and Pip decided he wanted to help her. He took a step forward just as the lady lowered her hood, revealing a soft, pale face, lovely dark eyes, and hair black as tar resting in two small braids. Pip had assumed right. She was quite beautiful.

As she unsurely stood next to an empty table, Pip made his way over. She had taken notice of him, for she began shivering a bit. Pip held his hand up, showing he wasn’t there to be rude to her.

“Are you lost, miss?” he asked as he stood before her.

She seemed startled by his appearance. She cautiously looked around. She had her hands folded as she stood with etiquette, though her eye movements made Pip wonder whether she was fully with it or not.

“I -- I’m looking for,” he heard her whisper. Her voice was soft and kind. “Well…”

“A person?” Pip guessed.

Slowly, she nodded her head. Her eyes shifted again. Pip was a bit surprised that she wasn’t getting dizzy from continuously looking left and right. “I -- well…” she paused and quickly her eyes met Pip’s. Pip froze. This lady -- she was as lost as a homeless puppy.

“A family member?” Pip asked.

“I -- no,” she then said rather swiftly. She backed up a bit. “I shouldn’t be talking to you. I -- I shouldn’t be here. Please excuse me.”

He watched as she bowed, and turned on her heels. With zero hesitation, Pip reached out and grabbed her arm.

“Wait a minute,” he said. “If you need help finding someone, then you shouldn’t have to alone. Why don’t you tell me their name? I might be able to help you.”

“Please let go of me,” she whimpered.

Frowning, Pip released her. “I’m sorry, miss. I…” He gaped, watching as she raced off. He wanted to chase after her, but as she exited the inn, he sighed and shook his head, only hoping that she’d be okay on her own.

Aleah sniffed as she entered Cain’s mansion. She quietly turned, ready to run to bed. Unfortunately, she gasped as she hit something warm and soft. Looking up, she shivered as she peered into her sister’s dark, evil eyes.

Gasping, Aleah groaned as Verity grabbed her by the hair. She yelped as Verity gave it a yank, forcing her head back. Verity glared down at her younger sister, keeping sure to hold tightly to Aleah’s hair. “Where have you been?”

Quickly, Aleah shook her head. “N -- nowhere…”

“Nowhere?” Verity challenged. “Then tell me, my dear sister, why I had just caught you red-handed?”

“I --” Aleah began. She blinked as Verity began chuckling. She winced as Verity began leading her down the hallway.

“Aleah,” Verity hissed. “I believe that you and I should have a little talk.”

Feeling miserable, Aleah bowed her head as Verity dragged her down the hallway. She said nothing as she was pushed into her sister’s bedroom. Groaning as she hit the floor, she turned and slowly backed up as Verity closed the door behind them.
