"So… you're both… demons?"

We decided that it would be best to hope for more strength in numbers. We told Caleb who we were, answered his questions, then told him that we were going after Liz. Once he had processed it all, and understood what this meant, he put together his hunting gear and got ready for a fight.

He was, after all, a demon hunter.

It probably wasn’t so great for his confidence to find out that he had had not one, but two demons right under his nose, going unnoticed for years, not including Vince.

But we had both spent years working to make it so we were well disguised.

He didn't seem extremely upset by the idea, but I could tell it would take some getting used to. But for now, time would not allow.

So we got together our tools as well; tools we hadn't needed since we had been in our true home, in our true form, in the abyss. Super-charged blades, dripping with energy, ready to kill the demon within Vince's body. They were not your average katanas. They could slice through a human body and leave it unharmed, while at least suppressing the demon within, if not killing it.

Long, rune strengthened leather jackets, lined with black sea salt and energy shields. Years worth of memorized spells for just this purpose; fighting a demon. Runic necklaces, rings and charms for not just us, but Liz as well. The powers of the demons within us, and the hunter at our side.

Then we got things ready for her.

Sugar water to revive her and help her body start to heal. Rosemary, sage and thyme tea, to calm her mind and warm her body. Pillows, blankets and a medical kit, just in case.

We were sure that she could pull through it; she was strong of mind and spirit. There was little that could break her, and even though it was Vince's body, she knew it was not him. We just hoped that when we had gotten Vince back to the surface, there was enough left of him to care...
