The Vision
Chapter 12
Daniel looked at Raphael, then me, "Excuse us, can you leave for just a minute?" I just looked at him, and he gave me a blank stare back, "You know English, girl, get out." "Okeeeey....!" I walked out angrily, but felt Raphael’s eyes burning on my back, and tried to focus on something happy. Outside I tried to listen through the door, but they kept quiet. 'Maybe they can telepathize?' "Helle, it's not nice to eavesdrop!" Asami was standing behind the corner, looking at me suspiciously. "Ehehe.. I wasn't eavesdropping! Promise!"
I walked away from the door and over to my little sister. "So what did you and Daniel do?" "He's funny! He showed me around the church while talking funny :p" "It's a cathedral, Asami, churches are smaller." "So?" "So... What do we do now? They decided they needed to talk privately, so I was kicked out. Should we just wait, or should we screw them and go home?" "Screwing people isn't nice either. No wonder you don't have any friends!" "Okey, so we stay?" "I want to say good bye to Daniel and Raphael!" And so we waited for them to finish talking.. or whatever they did in there.
Not long after they came out. I still felt angry when I looked at Daniel, he had been rude, but now he gave me a nice, big smile, came over to me, grabbed my waist and flipped my back against Raphael, grabbing Asami with the other hand and putt out heads together, like what he was about to say must be kept a secret from Raphael. "Okey, here's the deal: you two stay in church for the next month.", he said with a low voice. Asami’s eyes widened up and a big smile came across her face, "Live in the church? In this one? For an entire month? Will you be with us?" "Asami, no, we're not staying in here!" Daniels smile disappeared and he stared at me coldly again, "Who gave you the right to decide?" "Who said you could decide?" "Okey, you don't have to stay, it'll just be Asami and me then!" O_O "I can’t leave Asami here with you! What about our mom and dad? And.. school?" "School can wait, your parents will understand, I'm sure. You will not be the only ones here, plenty of people are coming! It’s tradition!" "Why do you need us to be here?!" "Why are you being so difficult?!" "Argh!" I was about to kick him away, but remembered to control my temper, he could be just as Raphael, and I got a feeling I shouldn't piss these guys off.
I got out of his grip, tired of being touched so much and looked Daniel in his eyes. They were deep brown, and some yellow and green created a vision of light in them. He was serious, he really wanted us to stay, no jokes, and for no other reason than because he was deeply worried. 'Why?' I looked up at Raphael, "Is this about Vaan again?" He nodded slightly. I sighed. "Okay. Okay, I trust you.", I said to Daniel, "We play the game your way." The smile returned to his face and he jumped at me giving me a real bear hug. /Oh, what a big child!/ "Great! I'll show you were to sleep and all, you can get the best room there is, you'll be my special guests!" The last part was mainly for Asami, whose eyes were shining like two little suns. /How can she be so happy about staying in a church for an entire month?/ Daniel lifted Asami up and danced around with her in his arms while singing happily. /And why is he so happy? I guess he's just a big child after all…/ Raphael looked happy too, the concerned look was almost gone. "But..", I started, and the concerned look was right back in his eyes again. "We need to get our stuff, some clothes and our toothbrushes and such... And we need to tell mom and dad, they'll be home this evening." "Don't. We'll go get your stuff", Daniel said," As for your parents, we'll write a note telling where you are, they can just come here to check upon you." "Daniel. That’s a bad idea. You don’t have the slightest idea of what I need, nor what Asami needs. And our parents will think someone kidnapped us if we're not at home when they get there. I know them, they freak out easily." "Oh, so that’s where you got it from."
I was just about to kick him again, but managed to keep it back. I didn't handle these situations very well, it was easy to piss me off. "It's okay.", Raphael said, "We don't start until Monday anyway, I think they have the time. Vaan hasn't made a move yet, he could easily have send one of his bitches out for them if he needed them." He turned at me and said," But it is a risk. Vaan can not easily be predicted. I would like it if you would hurry there and get back before sunset. Just leave a note for your parents, they can come here." There it was, those eyes again, making me want to do everything he asked me too. "Okay.", I whispered. "Okay. Asami, lets go!" Daniel put her down and we left the cathedral. It was already late, almost 5.
We rushed home, the walk took us no more then 10 minutes with the speed we kept. Asami wondered why we had to hurry so much. I didn't want to scare her with vampire stories, so I just simply told her that the cathedral would close at sunset, so we had to get back there before then. When we got home I saw our car outside, and the door was open. "MOM! DAD!", Asami shouted. She ran inside. 'Oh, no... What are they doing home so early? They'll never let us go...' I was right. They had come home early because of some cancelling, or someone who didn't show up or whatever it was. And letting us go to sleep in a cathedral? Mom insisted, "I just made dinner! You can’t just leave? And, we don't know these people, what do we even know about this tradition of theirs? And Helle, when did you ever go to church?" Dad agreed with mom, "Yes, Helle, you never went to churches before, why the sudden interest? There's a boy there? Why do you need Asami with you?" "Just pretty please? Tonight?"
I didn't even bother to say that it would be for an entire month, we would get rejection if I said that. "And it closes at sunset, so we have to get there now!" Then Asami entered the conversation, she had been upstairs packing clothes in her bag. "Asami? What's that? A bag of clothes?", mom asked. "We have to go, Helle! Why haven’t you packed yet?" Dad looked at her huge bag and then asked her, "Asami, you really think you would need all that for one night?" "It's not one night! We're staying there for a month!" 'Oh, shit, Asami, you just blew it..!' Both mom and dad, "NO!" And so we were forced to eat dinner, Asami had to unpack her bag and I just watched as darkness fell. I got so sad, imagining Raphael and Daniels faces. I swear I was close to crying. But I knew we had to get there, Raphael wouldn't joke about such things, and Daniel had been so serious. I planned for us to sneak out after mom and dad had gone to bed.
Night came and we were in our room, Asami had cried, so we had been send to our room way too early for us to sleep. I told Asami about my plan and it lightened her up. Then we had to wait for our parents to fall asleep. I lied in my bed, listening to the noises from downstairs. My back still hurting from the scratches, it was bothering me. My bag was packed together with Asami’s and they were hidden underneath my bed. But at some point, my eyes closed. Asami had fallen asleep long time ago. It had been a long day, my eyelids closed themselves and I promised myself it would only be for a minute, but I fell asleep.
My mind screamed for me to wake up, but my eyelids felt so heavy. I had no idea of what time it was, I had been sleeping. I couldn't hear any noises, we should go now. I forced my eyes to open slightly, half ways in a dream, half ways in reality, I looked into a couple of shining deep blue eyes. So beautiful... I just looked into them, who was this? ’Such eyes... So close. They remind me of Asami’s…’ I heard a silent laughter. I closed my eyes again, and when I opened them the deep blue eyes were gone. I blinked a couple of times, then sat up in my bed. What was that? There was something blocking the window. I looked at it, it was.. there was someone there! 'Go to sleep again, darling', I heard a voice say in my head. Then I suddenly felt very tired, it was impossible to stay awake, and I slipped off into dreamland.
Raphael’s POV: (at the cathedral with Helle)
I felt bad for causing her this trouble, she was so confused about everything, and she had just lost her innocence, but she also had such a bad temper, she was to rash in her actions. When she got annoyed with me holding back on information I had gotten pissed of with her as well, her bad temper switched onto me. I didn't remember, or I ignored, how the human body reacts to such moves. They were just animals after all, no one could blame her for the way her body reacted. That feeling of lust she tried to hide from me... I hadn’t intended to make her feel that way. But what's done is done, she had an overbearing mind, I knew she would see through her fingers with this and not dwell on it or holding it against me.
Daniel had rushed into the room, he had seen something, he always got so eager after having a vision. He told Helle to get out, and it pissed her off to be commanded, but she did what he said, trying again to hide her feelings from me and think of happy thoughts instead. ’Hmm.. Ice cream? And chocolate? So that’s where her happy place is... ’ Daniel close the door behind her and went further into the room, we waited for Helle to move away, then he came close and whispered to me, "It's her, the lill' one, Asami! Tha vamp's goin for her, he was all tha time!" "What 'bout Helle?", I whispered back. "Dunno, she's in there too, but I'm a 100% sure of it, he's goin for Asami!" "What do he want with her?" "Must be tha same as with Johanne and Iselin, must be it!" "Daniel, what exactly did you see?" He told me he had seen Asami with the vampire I know as Vaan, dressed in the clothes of an undead, she was drugged with something to keep her calm and she was being prepared for something, it seemed important. "And what part does Helle play in all of this?" Daniel closed his eyes and looked far behind his own mind, searching. "She.. she will come after. But she is dressed in the clothes of the demon kind, the ones for the advent." Daniel looked up at me again, " That's why I thought it was her at first, I saw her first, but now I know that she will come after Asami has already been taken." "That doesn't prove Vaan is after her." "Does it matter? He takes both! What do we do?" "We have to keep 'em here."
I looked after them as they left, Helle dragging Asami after her in a hurry. Time had passed so quickly, they needed to hurry. Daniel wandered restlessly around, he wanted to follow with them, make sure they were safe. "There's nothing we can do, 'key? We can't hurt no one, you know, only Michael is allowed that! Doesn't matter if we're there with 'em, the vamps'll just laugh in our faces." Time passed, we got more and more concerned. They weren't returning. I watched the sun set from the roof top, and saw how vampires started getting out of their lairs. I felt sad, it was too late now. The night passed by, we still waited, hoping that they might make it here still. Daniel was with me, also sad. It was late now, the moon was shining, it was almost full. Daniel looked down to the ground, "They're here.", he suddenly said. I knew he didn't mean Helle and Asami.
"The vampire hunters?" I asked. "Yes...why are they at our doorstep? And why are they showing off themselves?" I looked down. Right. I could clearly see 3 demons standing down there, they were with one dark elf. "They don't think he's in here, do they?", I asked, knowing it was a stupid question, but the occasion was unnatural as well. Demons rarely showed themselves to angels, and hardly ever came close to a church. "Let's go ask 'em!", Daniel went down to them and I followed, curious myself. I had never before been so close to a demon. They didn't look too good. They were in their human form, had wounds all over, they bled, black blood fell onto the ground, their clothes were ripped up, what was left of it that was. The males had their upper body naked, the elf was still in his clothes though, but they were wet with blood from a wound on his neck. They all breathed heavily. We didn't let them see us though, using a little extra energy to keep the elf from seeing us. "They're hiding from something...! That's why we see them, they're not focusing on us at all, they're using all their power to hide themselves.. Trying to use our powers to disguise as well…", Daniel stared out in the direction the others were, "Vampires?" I looked at the four creatures, recognizing the female demon as Cora. She had a bad wound in her stomach and another in her back. "They are hunting for Vaan... But kill all others they encounter.” ’He had told me about them, I remember him talking about the one, Cora. He nearly killed them last time they met.’ "There!" Daniel pointed into the forest. I saw him too. Vaan. "So, I guess he won again..."
'Maybe they can telepathize?'
