Chapter Twenty-Three

Chapter Twenty-Three

“Good,” Garret smiled. He then regarded her seriously. “Rae, you do know that anytime you’re uncomfortable you can tell me, right? If I ever push too hard or go too fast I want you to let me know.”

She gave him a small smile. “I know.”

“Then calm down.”

“I am calm,” she protested.

“Really?”

“Yes!”

“Darlin’, if you get any more tense your muscles are going to lock up. I would never ever hurt you in any way. You’re my life, angel. I love you.”

Her eyes widened. “Care to repeat that?”

He grinned. “As many times as you’d like. I love you.” She kissed him. “So, our first night of sharing a room. This is a big step, you know. This is where we find out if we’re really compatible. Like if you’re a covers hog or if I snore.”

She found herself smiling despite herself. “Do you?”

“Umm... I’m not sure,” he admitted. “You?”

“Nope,” she smiled. “I’m sure my sister would have let me know.”

“You have a sister?” he asked surprised.

“Yep, my parents sent her to live with an aunt while I was sent with my grandparents when I was five and she was nine.”

“Ah, how about hogging the covers?”

“I’ve never shared a bed with another person.”

“I do.”

“Then we may fight.”

“Bring it on.” He yawned lazily.

“You seem quite concerned.”

“Sorry, lover, you just don’t frighten me.”

“And I’m also not your lover.”

“Not yet.”

“And what makes you so sure I will become so?”

He grinned. “How long are you going to be able to hold out against the wonderfulness of me?” She laughed, looked at him, and laughed harder. “I’m going to have to talk to your friends and cure them of this stupid idea that you’re nice.” She stuck her tongue out at him. As though taking that as an invitation he kissed her.

“What if your roommate or his girlfriend came in and saw this hot guy practically all over me.”

“You think I’m hot?”

She rolled her eyes at that. “You don’t need me to stroke your ego. You do a fine job of it yourself.”

He grinned playfully. “But it’s much more fun if someone else does it.” she blushed ducking her head. “Besides I wasn’t all over you.” He grabbed her arm and tugged her close. “This is all over you.” His lips covered hers silencing her gasp of surprise. He kissed her long and thoroughly, obviously enjoying himself. His hands traveled over her back as though memorizing all her curves. He pulled away breathlessly. “You taste so damn good.” she blushed again. “We could really give them a show.”

“Pig. Besides, I think they’d leave.”

He nuzzled her neck before placing a few well-aimed kisses and bites there. “Why?”
“Who’d want to see the two of us having sex?”

“Me,” he said honestly. “And you.”

“Right.”

“You would,” he announced. “You want me right now.” He nipped at her neck again, this time with fangs. “I can smell it and taste it on your skin. You want me so badly you’re almost shaking. Admit it.”

“I’ll do no such thing,” she gasped unstably. Her entire body was trembling. Between the movements of his hands on her back, the gentle, constant touch of his mind, and whatever it was that he was doing to her neck, her body felt as though it had caught of fire.

She could feel him smile as his mouth worked its way up to her earlobe, which he nibbled on a little. “Really?”

“Why would I want you?”

He chuckled at that, she had never realized how sensual a man’s laugh could be. “Because, angel, no man will ever take better care of you, protect you better or bring you more pleasure than I can.”

“Aren’t you just a little full of yourself?”

“A little,” he agreed readily. “But it’s okay to be a little, especially if you’re right.”

She rolled her eyes. “Do you ever listen to yourself?”

“Yes. And I repeat, I’m right. Here.” He took off his shirt and handed it to me.

“What am I supposed to do with this?”

“Wear it,” he said rolling his eyes. “What else would you do with it?”

“I’d say screw you but you’d take me seriously.”

“Are you going to sleep in jeans and a button up shirt?”

“I get your point.” She then looked at the shirt. “This isn’t very long.” He rolled his eyes dramatically and stood walking to his dresser. He threw a shirt at her, she caught it easily. “That’s better.”

“Anything to please, my lady.” He bowed mockingly.

“Good, you know your place,” she smirked.

“Actually, I don’t,” he said flopping down next to her. “Am I on top or on the bottom?”

“I- you… jerk!”

“Thanks,” he smiled. “But you didn’t answer my question.”

“Shut up,” she commented mildly hopping up and walking into the bathroom. she quickly got dressed. When she came back out Garret had stripped down to his boxers. “Don’t look at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like you’re going to devour me.”

“Sounds good.”

“No more talking for you.”

He shrugged lithely. “Works for me. C’m here and I won’t say anything else for the rest of the night.” She just stared at him. “What?”

“Back off, Tarzan.”

“There you go again, calling me names.” She went to him and flopped down next to him adjusting the shirt when it tried to ride up.

“Now what?”

“I’ve got a list.”

Rowan rolled her eyes. “I’m going to bed.”

“That wasn’t on it.”

“I figured.”

“Don’t I even get a kiss goodnight?” he pouted.

She rolled her eyes. “One kiss.” He moved over top of her. She raised one eyebrow at him.

“One kiss,” he repeated. He lowered his head and touched his lips to hers. She reached up and ran her hands through his hair. He growled softly and his kiss changed ever-so-slightly becoming rougher. Acting purely on instinct she wrapped one leg around one of his. He pulled away, his eyes darkened with pure lust. “Hey, tomorrow’s Saturday.”

“Yeah,” she said blinking away her own feelings.

“You know what that means?”

“That you have the strangest sense of timing?”

“No, well, I might but that’s not what I’m talking about. That means that we’ll be able to spend the whole day, just the two of us. You guys don’t have any gigs, and Liam always stays in on Saturday. What do you say, angel, want to take in a movie or something?”

“We were going to practice.”

He rolled his eyes. “So practice early and spend the day with me.”

“I don’t know,” she said with a small smile.

He rested his forehead on her forehead. “I can convince you,” he assured her. “I’m a very good negotiator.”

She giggled, surprised by the sound coming out of her mouth. “Damn it, I never giggle.”

“You have a cute giggle,” he smiled. He lowered his arm slightly so he was now resting mostly on top of her.

Rowan raised her eyebrows looking into his eyes. “What are you doing?”

“Negotiating.” Garret kissed the tip of her nose.

“Hey, that’s more than one kiss,” she protested. He smirked moving on to her ear. She sighed moving restlessly against him.

“Tell me to stop and I will.” She blinked up at him as he regarded her seriously. She gently chewed on her bottom lip. “Angel?”

“I... don’t know.”

He sighed slightly then offered her a smile. “Okay.”

“But you’re on for tomorrow.”

“Good.”
