One Brave Little Baby
Chapter Eleven: One brave little baby...
Kessie was drugged up, and so was Connor. The men had just gotten use to drugging them to keep them quiet for the long trip. Greg carried Connor inside, Mark carried Kessie.
Later that night, Kessie woke up, the drugs had worn off. She saw that the door wasn’t latched and she thought. She picked up blanket and wrapped it around Connor, then she picked up Connor carefully and held him close to her. She walked out the hotel room door and down a flight of stairs, she opened the door to the outside and looked around... next door was a church!
She moved as fast as her hungry, sore little body could carry her and her brother, until she reached the church.
She set Connor down and pulled on the big doors, \"Please, open!\" she said, tugging on the door. Finally, it opened. She set Connor inside and went outside to the pay phone to call the police.
She could barely reach the 9 button, but that was all she needed to hit, soon there was an operator on the other end. \"There’s a baby in the church by the hotel!\" She yelled, then hung up, because she saw Mark groggily walking towards her.
\"WHERE’S YOUR BROTHER?\" Mark picked her up by the arm. \"Where is he?\"
Kessie was about to answer when the sound of police sirens scared Mark, he ran back inside the hotel and locked the door.
Greg woke up, \"Where’s Jordan?\"
\"Cassandra took him somewhere, but she won’t tell me where.\" Mark said, \"But don’t worry... I will get it out of her...\" Kessie cowered in the corner as Mark walked towards her.

\"You found Connor????\" Raquella said, from her hotel room in New York \"Yes... we will be there right away! We are going to be on the next flight to Springfield!\"
\"What?\" Lucilla said as Raq hung up the phone.
\"They got Connor, he’s safe. But they couldn’t find Kessie. Connor was wrapped in Kessie’s blanket.\"
\"Do you think...\" Lucilla said.
\"That Kessie saved her little brother... yes, but I wonder why she didn’t stay in the church?\"
\"I don’t know...\" Lucy said.

\"MA!\" Connor squealed with delight as both women hugged and played with him.
\"Look how sickly he looks,\" Raquella said, \"I wonder if they have been feeding them...\"
\"Doesn’t look like it.\" Lucilla said, snuggling with Connor. Both women were overjoyed to see their son.
\"We found him at a hotel in Illinois, hence why you are here in Springfield.\" An officer said, \"we received a call from a small girl that there was a baby in the church by the hotel about an hour away from here and we went right away. We noticed it was Connor after we did a search of missing children.\"
\"Kessie called the police? Then maybe she was wanting to go back into the church but she was caught.\" Raquella said, snuggling with her baby boy.
\"We will keep our eyes open.\" The officer said.
“Bath...\" Raquella thought aloud.
\"Pardon?\" The cop said as he stood to leave.
\"I said Bath, as in Bath, Indiana... that’s where Mark lived, with his parents... that’s probably where he is taking Kessie.\"

Mark and Greg pulled up in front of Rob’s house, Kessie was just waking up from her drugged up state. Mark picked up Kessie and took her inside as Greg moved the car so it wouldn’t be so obvious.
\"Mom, come and see your granddaughter!\" Mark said as he held the half sleeping child in his arms.

\"Hello there...\" A voice that was soft and sweet said to Kessie, \"I’m June, are you Cassandra?\"
Kessie opened her eyes, she had fallen asleep again, she looked around, \"No, my name is Kessie Marie... where is that man?\"
\"You mean my brother Mark?\" June said... \"Wait... what do you mean your name is Kessie?\"
\"Kessie, yes, that is my name... but where is everyone else?\"
\"Greg and Mark and Mom and Dad went out to eat, it’s just us kid.\"
Kessie smiled, \"I want my Mommy... I want my Mama!\"
\"What do you mean?\"
Kessie turned on the televison to the nightly news, just as it was saying something about the search for Kessie.
\"That’s me!\" Kessie cried, \"I was taken from my Mommy and Mama more than a week ago.\"
\"I had heard something abut that... but... why would Mark take a child.\"
\"He wanted me to call him Daddy, but I don’t have a Daddy, I have two mommy’s that love me more than anything. I’m special.\"
\"I’ll say you are...\" June said as she heard a car door open and shut. \"Don’t worry, I am going to help you get back to your Mommy and Mama.\"
Kessie gave June a hug and a small kiss, \"thank you!\"
Mark came in and was met in the doorway by June, Mark was followed close behind by his parents and Greg.
\"How DARE you!\" June screamed at him, \"How DARE you MARK!\"
\"What did I do Sis?\"
\"What do you mean, ‘What did I do?’ That girl isn’t Cassandra, and isn’t YOUR daughter, that child is the child of the lesbian Canadian couple that has been all over the news... You KIDNAPED HER!\"
Mark’s mother and father traded glances and gasped. \"Mark...\" His mother said.
\"KESSIE!\" Mark pushed Sis aside and ran for the three year old, but he was met as he turned the corner by a frying pan in his face.
\"DAMN!\" Mark held his bleeding nose.
\"Serves you right!\" June looked over at her parents, \"Mom, call the cops...\" She stopped and looked as Greg tried to run. But her father was already after him, and had him pinned.
Soon the cops were there and had taken Mark and Greg into custody, Raquella and Lucilla ran towards Kessie and she ran towards them. \"MOMMY! MAMA!\"
It was a heartfelt reunion as Greg and Mark sat in the back of the squad car, yelling and cursing at each other.
\"Mommy, this nice lady helped me...\"
Raquella and Lucilla looked over at June, who wasn’t being treated very nicely, Raq walked over and smiled. \"I want to thank you for finding my girl... there is a reward coming to you.\"
June refused, \"All I want is to know that Kessie is safe, if she hadn’t said anything... he may had gotten it past my mom and dad...\"
Raquella looked over to where Kessie was getting treated for her many bruises and marks she had gotten.
\"She’s going to be fine...\" Lucilla said, walking up towards Raquella.
\"I hope so...\" June said as the couple walked over towards Kessie, Lucilla holding Connor.
\"Mommy, Mama... can you wait before we leave?\" Kessie said, now all cleaned up.
\"Sure dear.\" Raquella said, smiling.
Kessie ran over to June and hugged her, \"Thank you June...your one of my bestest friends in the whole world and I have a lot of best friends!\" She said sweetly, then ran back to her parents.
\"Let’s go home as a family.\" Raquella smiled.
Mark and Greg were taken away, and they were a family again.
