Chapter Twelve

Many thanks to Tirch, L, and animegirl007. It’s lovely to hear from the new reviewers as well as the old! For this chapter, just keep in mind that stress can weigh a person down, and I hope you won’t think any less of a particular character. Well, it’s okay if you do. It’s fiction after all:)

Present Day

“Honestly, I don’t know.”

“You don’t know much, do you?” He muttered, loud enough for her to hear him clearly.

“Excuse me?!”

“That’s all you ever say. You never give a reason.”:

“I don’t have to give a reason! You broke my fucking heart!”

“Oh, quoting movies and the like, right? Well here’s one, “ we were young and stupid. Cut a guy some slack!”

“From where I’m sitting, you’re still young and very much stupid. Even more so, if that’s even possible.”

“Ok, I’m not going to get in a argument with you now, alright? Just forget it.” She looked at him for a moment with her mouth slightly agape. He kept his eyes straightforward. With an angry glare, she decided to look out of the passenger window, trying to figure out exactly what it was they were supposed to forget. She supposed that she didn’t intentionally want to give him a hard time, but self preservation and all that. But she couldn’t help but think it ridiculous to get in a relationship with him again. Even though she knew that they were still in love with each other [yes, she could admit it to herself, and absolutely no one else] and they had amazing sex, it wasn’t enough. There were more important things to consider, like her career. Personal feelings came last. There was no other way.

Sean couldn’t believe that after all this time, she was being as childish as ever. No matter what he said or what he did, he couldn’t take back or change the past.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

He gave a silent, humorless laugh as he thought of the AA serenity prayer. He could accept the things he couldn’t change just fine. He had the courage to change things now, but he knew he would have a bitch of a time doing that if Rosalyn kept fighting every step of the way. At least, emotionally. He could probably take a jack hammer to her chest and still not be able to get to her heart now. Maybe it really was too late. Maybe she didn’t love him anymore. Maybe he should give up and just be a pleasant acquaintance she just happened to work with. The last thing he wanted was for things to be harder for her.

But damn it, life was hard. The only way to ever feel triumphant was to overcome difficulties of life- to prevail. But you also had to know when to throw in the towel. If their days continued this “going nowhere” path, maybe he would. Then maybe he could know a sense of peace and finally move on with his life. Maybe.

“They’ll be here shortly. Traffic can be a real, mean bitch this time of day.” Mario, the short, dark haired director/producer said with an all to eager smile.

“They’re together?” The woman, Michelle Madison asked. She was the one writing the piece on the two new stars. With her short bob, small wire frames, and sharp, all white Carolina Herrera suit, he knew she wasn’t one to be trifled with. She looked at him with those large, almond colored eyes as if waiting for a lie.

“No, no, but they are in the same rush hour infested highway.” Mario lied through his teeth. Wouldn’t do for the public to know so soon if they were actually together or not. In this business, you had the to the tension build to an insane amount before dropping a bomb of truth.

According to Sylvie the makeup artist, the pair wasn’t just talking the other day. She told him how she “inadvertently heard” the two of them when she went to check on Rosalyn. ‘Inadvertently my ass,’ he thought. ‘Nosy bitch.’ He thought that he should be more upset about the two of them hooking up so early in the show, because usually relationships amongst cast members that failed would be the final death knoll of a television show. But Sylvie also they said they had a past. That’s why they were so intriguing to watch. They were… raw together. Television fake fucking at its best. They would make that television show worth watching. Sure the scripts were top notch and amazing special effects, but if you can’t convince the viewers that the fantasy was real, then you didn’t have shit. But Sean and Rosalyn didn’t have that problem. They were so hot, he found himself with a woody!

“Alright.”

“Ten more minutes, I’m sure of it. Here, have a seat in the green room. I’ll see that you get nice accommodations- drinks and the like. This is a friendly set after all.” He said, ushering her to said room. If they weren’t there in five minutes, he’d kill them. But they did make a helluva team… Now all they had to do was sing and dance for this bitch, getting the show its rightful promotion, and everything would be right as rain.

A/N: I apologize that this is short, and that perhaps this story is “slow paced,” but as I progress, I feel the need to become more sophisticated with the story line, and initial thoughts for an ending are rapidly changing. I hope you all understand. Also, a new update should be up and the next few days with [hopefully] wonderful smut.
