I snuggled up to Chris, sighing. I had gotten my way with my uncle, it seemed. Though I didn\'t know how long it would last. That made me frown, killing my happy, post orgasmic mood. Fuck. Sitting up, I stretched and reached for my clothing, reluctantly getting dressed. Chris rolled over and began to do the same. Obedient, I could get used to. It was a hell of a lot better than what Collin had tried to pull. Very much so.
I opened the door to the front room as soon as Chris was dressed and walked out. Liam sat in one of the many chairs in the room, watching the television. Looking around, I noted that Mourn was nowhere to be seen.
Liam looked up at me as I sank down into the chair next to him. \"Mourn wandered off for a bit. He\'ll be back.\"
I nodded as Chris bowed, taking my hand to kiss it. \"Until next time, my fair princess.\"
I blushed, smiling. Chris winked at me as he stood back up. Collecting his bodyguard, he let himself out.
\"Mourn wasn\'t mad or anything, was he?\" My real question was, was Mourn made uncomfortable by Chris\' presense? Collin had told me that the rooms were soundproof, but he had lied to me, and I also knew that Mourn had very good hearing.
Liam shook his head, turning to face me. \"No, he was feeling restless, so he went to the exercise rooms.\"
\"Oh.\" That made a lot of sense. Mourn was like a hyperactive three year old; he couldn\'t sit still if there was something to do, and was a handfull when there was nothing to occupy him. The thought made me smile. Mourn was Mourn, would always be so. It was comforting to know that some things hadn\'t changed in the past few days.
Liam smiled at me. I wondered if he could sense the path my thoughts were taking, or if my joy was that plain to see. I didn\'t know which I preferred. An intuitive fey, or an animated face. I frowned at that, making him lau\"Do\"Don\'t frown so, it\'s not becoming.\"
I shook my head and smiled, plopping down on the couch. I felt better than I had in days. Everything that had happened seemed so far away an insignificant. It was wonderful. then a thought hit me. \"Liam?\"
\"Yes?\"
\"Where are the exercise rooms?\"
Liam looked at me, startled. \"You\'ve never been given the full tour, have you?\"
\"No, I haven\'t.\"
He stood up, offering me one hand. I took it more out of courtesy than need, rising with him. \"It has been years since I stayed here, but I think I remember where everything is.\" Liam smiled at me, letting my hand go as he turned towards the doors. They opened, and we walked through. I closed them with a thought.
\"That gets easier every time.\"
\"The original 7eleven.\"
I laughed. \"I bet.\"
Liam offered me an arm. I snaked my arm through his, resting my hand on his wrist like they did on television. Liam smiled at me, a smile that melted me in my shoes. It was different from Mourn\'s smile, but it had the same effect. Where Mourn\'s smile told you he was thinking dirty thoughts, Liam\'s told you just how beautiful you were. The same, but different.
\"Well, you\'ll get to know the lower halls pretty soon.\"
\"You\'ll be the only one using them, now.\"
Liam and I turned to see a woman standing in a doorway a few feet away. She smiled at my puzzled expression. \"I\'m Liana.\" She nodded to Liam. \"It\'s good to see you, Liam.\"
\"It\'s good to see you too, Liana.\" Liam bowed from the shoulders at her.
Liana came ou the the doorway, smiling at us. She was small, barely five feet, with long, rich brown hair and wide brown eyes. \"May I accompany the princess on her tour? As I now live here, maybe I could even point out a few areas of interest.\"
\"Of course you may,\" Liam answered formally. Liana laughed.
\"You don\'t have to be so formal anymore, Liam. I am my own woman, as far as the council is concerned.\" My puzzlement must have shown on my face, because she smiled at me. \"For years I was the eyes and ears of Lord Mihkail. I was granted ladyship about fifty years ago, so I came to live with the king.\"
\"How are you enjoying your newfound title?\" Liam asked.
\"I enjoy it greatly. I do not miss Mihkail, he was, and still is, old and mean.\"
Liam laughed. \"I remember. So, shall we go? I was thinking of starting with the manor itself, first.\"
Liana nodded. \"That\'s a good place to start. If I may lead...?\" when Liam nodded, Liana turned around. We followed her up to the manor house. She then preceded to show me every area of interest. I was starving by the time she was finished.
My stomach rumbled, and Liana turned around, smiling. \"Perhaps we should go back to the kitchen.\"
I smiled back and rubbed my stomach. \"Sounds good to me.\"
A thought hit me as we made our way back. \"Liana, you are a lady, but you don\'t have a guard.\"
Liana nodded. \"My old guard was killed, and I have been...picky...about who will take his place. He had been a good friend, but he was not cut out for guard duty. He felt it was \'beneath\' him, and often let things slide that should not have been let to.\" She sighed. \"So I have been wary about the next man who guards my person. I do not want a repeat.\"
I nodded sympathetically. \"I understand.\" I looked at Liam as I said that. I had gotten off lucky with my guards. They were more than willing to protect my body at any cost, and we were still goood friends and lovers.
They were more than happy to see us when we got to the kitchen, piling food in front of us. My eyes widened at the amount of food there was.
\"We can\'t eat that much. Can we?\"
Liam and Liana smiled at me. \"Dragons are notorious for their appetites. Once your dragon fully awakens, you\'ll understand.\"
We sat, me still looking at Liana. \"Wait. What do you mean by that?\"
Liana looked at me. \"No one\'s bothered to tell you a whole lot, have they? Very well. When a dragon mates with aan aan and has a child, the dragon blood in the child, and that child\'s decendants, remains dormant until it\'s woken up to its full potential. They will always be more gifted in some way than other humans, but other than that, the bloies ies slee, un, until someone comes along to awaken it.\"
\"Oh.\" I piled my plate high with food and started eating. \"I was also told it was my dragon blood that made magic blow up in my face.\"
Liana smiled at that. \"That\'s true, tWhenWhen it comes to things such as magic, dragons are among the best at it. So a human magic system will only be an insult to your natural abilities.\"
\"Ah.\" I started eating, thinking about that. \"What about religion? Do dragons have like, a dragon god?\"
\"Dragons believe in a goddess and a god. Other goddesses and gods, well, they might exist, and they might not, and dragons don\'t really care for them.\" Liana took a deep breath. \"You really have to talk to the priests about that. The priest here, Daniel, has talked to the Goddess before. It was during the last dragon-fey war, and he was dying. You have to talk to him about it, it\'s really amazing.\"
I thought about that. \"Couldn\'t he be lying?\"
Liana shook her head. \"Dragon\'s can\'t lie, especially to one another. I suppose it\'s possible it was just a hallucination, but after he came back...he was different. You could tell he had been touched by the divine.\" Liana smiled slightly. \"Go ask him about it. It\'s a beautiful story.\"
