Chapter 11
Alex spent most of the day going over the mock-ups for the new ad campaign they were working on. He was very proud to have gotten the contract with his favorite clothing line. It was a very prestigious honor and he knew it would expose them to even more high-end designers. His already successful business would likely be growing even more. That made him smile. Who would have ever thought the laid back beach bum that he was in college would end up owning a business that had already made quite a name for itself and had no signs of slowing down. He leaned back in his chair and smiled, looking around at the lovely cottage and the beach outside. Yes, success definitely had its perks.
He grabbed a beer and went out onto the back deck to relax for a while. Cameron was just diving into the waves. Alex watched him as he swam out to the sandbar and back several times. The man was a strong swimmer. Swimming against those waves was quite a workout. Cameron finally waded out and sat on the sand at the water’s edge. He drew his knees up and wrapped his arms around them, staring out at the sea. He sat like that for quite a while, seemingly lost in his thoughts. Alex silently watched him the whole time. The man was stunning. There was no other word for him. Those violet blue eyes…Alex had never met anyone with eyes that color. They were mesmerizing. The rest of him was flat out gorgeous; everything from his thick, slightly wavy hair down to his feet with their long, slender toes. “Geez”, he thought, “I am seriously fucked if I think the man even has sexy toes!” He wasn’t really sure what he expected this evening. Obviously they enjoyed each other’s company and never seemed to run out of things to talk about, but what was he expecting beyond that? It was clear that Cameron was curious, and he had no doubt there was an attraction there…one that was mutual. Was he getting his hopes up for…what? He had grown very fond of Cameron on a personal level, above and beyond the physical attraction. Cameron was the kind of guy he could see himself having a real relationship with. But, Cameron wasn’t gay. He was just confused. Alex had to make him see that. If he didn’t, he was surely just setting himself up to be hurt. Was it worth risking everything for the possibility that Cameron might feel the same? If it backfired, would he lose one of the best friends he’d ever had? Common sense said he needed to put the brakes on this quickly. But God…he wanted him.
