Chapter 11
Alexander stopped short after the Rogue got done talking and began shaking all over in the effort to control the beast inside of himself. It was a losing battle and Alex looked over at Cedric before blacking out.
“Fuck.” Cedric said as he let go of the woman in his arms and raced over to Alexander.
Alexander was all ready in the pre-stages of turning full lupine. His sharp, white claws were gleaming like deadly daggers and his teeth had all ready started taking on a more canine appearance. If he did not hurry, Alex was going to turn into a big, white wolf right in front of the woman and that could spell big trouble for all of them.
Seeing a wolf the size of a small black bear was not something anyone would easily forget. Pures or purus as they were called in the old world were unusually large and were often mistaken for Dire Wolves.
They were much bigger than the Turned version, who were the size of today’s gray timber wolf, and a lot meaner as well. Which meant that if Alexander changed in front of this woman, Cedric would have a lot more to deal with than an upset Lycki.
It would mean he would have a hysterical female that could possibly have connections with hunters and bring doom to them all. Not something he wanted to deal with at the moment. Better to get Alex calmed down or at least pacified before he changed.
“Alex, Alex! Calm down my man! You are scaring that woman over there and besides, you know we will make that greasy, cunt bucket pay for what he just said.” Cedric said gently as he shook his friend slightly to hopefully snap him out of the pre-stage change.
“Can’t… control. Outside…” Was all Alexander could manage between the snarls and growls coming from his throat.
“Fuck me. Okay bad boy, but you are not going to like how I get you there.” Cedric said slightly aggravated at the fact he now had to get his friend outside and quick. Cedric bent slightly down, wrapped an arm around Alex‘s waist, and hoisted him up like a sack of potatoes.
“Damn boy! You could use to loose a few pounds. Damn your heavy!” Cedric exclaimed as he began hurrying towards the closest exit in the club.
If the situation wasn’t so glum, Cedric would laugh at the situation and at Alexander. Maybe later they could all sit around with a few beers and laugh about how ridiculous Alexander looked slung over his shoulder with his braid swinging to and fro.
With that thought in mind Cedric went out the back exit door and let it close behind him. The door would keep prying eyes from seeing his friend change into his lupine form and keep Alexander from ripping apart the club.
Angerona sat there on the club floor bewildered at what she just saw and for the life of her could not get her legs to move. It was if something was holding her there to that spot. She did not just see a man sprout claws and nor did she just see his teeth turn more canine in fashion. She had to be dreaming. She just had to be. No way could any human do something like that.
Drystan was keeping a sharp eye on the woman on the floor while he kept a death grip on the Rogue in his arms. He wasn’t going to let the little prick go until Cedric got back into the club and let him know it was okay to toss the lot of them out. Cause if Alexander wasn’t calm by the time they did so, it would be bye-bye Rogues. They would deserve all they would get, but that would result in troubles he didn’t want to even think about.
“Quit yer squirming lad or else I will knock you out like yer friends there.” Drystan said in a voice that was filled annoyance.
“Fuck you Lycki!” Samuel said as tried even harder to get loose from the animal that held him.
Drystan sighed as he wrapped one muscular arm around the Rogue’s throat and squeezed off the air supply. The Rogue struggled like a wildcat for several seconds, but eventually gave in and passed out like the rest. Drystan just let the body of the Rogue hit the floor with a dull thud and looked over at the woman. From what he could tell, the woman was still in shock from all the drama that had went on earlier in the club.
Which meant he had only a small amount of time to get over there and calm the woman down before she went into hysterics. He wished like hell that Cedric would hurry up and get back in the club. The local authorities would no doubt be on their way and he didn’t feel like dealing with any more humans tonight.
Drystan approached the woman slowly as he watched for signs that her shock was wearing off. He did not want to scare the wee thing. Once he got close enough, he slowly squatted near the woman and gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
Angerona jerked away at the gentle touch and quickly looked up to see who or what touched. All she saw was a pair of kind, gray eyes peering down at her with concern. She almost wept at the human face that now smiled at her. Looking around the club, she saw no signs of the white haired man that was sprouting the claws or the blond bartender that had ran over to where the men were now lying very still on the ground.
Drystan followed her gaze to see what she was looking at. He saw the unconscious Rogues lying on the floor of the club and then smiled.
“Doona worry lass. They ain’t dead.” Drystan said as slowly and calmly as possible to the frightened woman next to him.
Angerona looked up at the man and almost sighed at his thick Scottish brogue. She always loved a good Scottish accent and his was to die for. No wonder her friends were drooling over him. The man was quite attractive, but he didn’t compare to the white, silvery haired man she saw earlier. He was a sex god. She was sure of it. No man that looked that good could be human. He had to be a god in disguise. Sent down to earth to tease the very essence of womanhood.
The very same man who sprouted claws and looked like he was about to eat the men who were now on the floor. She gulped as fear returned full force and she let her pent up breath out in a loud whoosh.
“Where… where… is everyone? Where is the blond haired guy and the white haired guy that was just here a moment ago?” She said with a slight stutter.
Angerona wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to know the answer, but a part of her needed to know what in the hell was going on. She had seen things tonight she really could not explain nor could she even believe if she hadn’t seen it with her very own eyes.
“Every one left as soon as the commotion started. If mean my friend Cedric and Alexander then, they are outside calling the police I am sure.” Drystan said as friendly as he could muster.
“His name is Alexander?” Angerona said very softly.
“Uh, I doona think I should have told you that. Bloody hell. Any way, my name is Drystan. Nice to meet you.” Drystan said on a charismatic smile.
Drystan offered his hand out to the woman next to him and watched as she gingerly took his hand. After shaking hands he slowly came to his feet and brought the woman to her feet as well.
“By the way lass, what is yer name? If you doona mind me asking?” He said gently as he stepped away to give her some space to breathe.
“Oh! Sorry. Um, my name is Angerona. Angerona Savalides.” Angerona said with a shaky smile.
“The Roman Goddess that protects the true name of Rome. Interesting choice in name.” A sultry voice said from behind her.
Angerona spun around quickly to see who spoke with such a sexy, rumbling voice. When she did, she saw that it was the white haired man that was carried out just a few minutes ago. Alex was his name and the blond that was beside him was Cedric. She noticed he recovered quick enough and was about to say something when sirens could be heard from outside of the club.
“Looks like Billy and Bob are here. Get ready boys. Our brain cells are fixing to go down a notch.” Alexander said very sarcastically.
Angerona looked curiously around while she stood there pondering what her next move should be. Obviously she did not want to stick around the club any more than she had to. She really needed to find her friends and just get the hell away from this place. She was beginning to sweat and really feel uncomfortable.
“You okay lass? Would you like a glass of water?” Drystan said gently to the nervous looking woman near him.
“Um, that would be nice, but I really should be going.” Angerona said on a shaky, nervous laugh.
“You can’t leave now Miss Savalides. The police are here and more than likely will see you leave. That would raise their suspicion and I am sure you do not want that.” Alexander said a bit more harshly than he intended, but nothing he can do about that now.
He was not in the mood to deal with flighty women and was still reeling with hot aggression from earlier. Cedric got the brunt of it, but by the time they got in the club, most of the evidence was gone. Lycki tended to heal a lot faster than most Myths or humans. Which was both a blessing and a curse.
“What…what?” Was all Angerona could say as shock filled her system.
She felt her earlier unease flee on swift wings as anger came rushing into her veins like hot, liquid magma. Angerona never felt furious before and was determined to let the tempting man before know all of her ire.
Alexander watched as the vixen behind him came stomping up to him with a sexy, angry stride. Her anger was very evident in both her eyes and body language. He couldn’t help but notice the way her hips would sway with each step she took or the way her perky breasts would slightly bounce with each stomping step she took.
He could not take his eyes off of her and at any moment those cops would be coming through the club doors. That could make the scene right now look worse than what it all ready is. He had only a few options to choose from and at that moment none seemed like a great idea.
“Listen here you…you…” Was all Angerona got out when the man before wrapped a muscular arm around her and pulled her tight against his hard, lean body.
She watched as his lips descended close to her mouth, but not quite touching her own lips. He let her feel his breath blow feather light against her lips before coming in closer and gently placing a soft kiss on her mouth. She almost moaned at the feel of his lips on hers. His lips were firm yet soft and she quickly darted her tongue out for a quick taste. This time she did moan softly at the taste of him. He tasted of sweet, crisp apples on a hot summer’s day.
Alexander heard the woman in his arms moan softly when she licked his lips lightly after he gave her a soft kiss. He had to really concentrate not to give into temptation and deepen the kiss more. He wanted to tease and give her a small taste of seduction. To hopefully shake her up enough in forgetting to make a scene in front the police, but instead the temptress before him actually shook him to his very core.
Never in his life time has he ever kissed a woman and felt such a deep yearning before. His whole body went up in flames the moment his lips touched hers. It was if his body knew her on a deeper level and that profound experience shook him like nothing else could.
“Look, these two cops will throw you in the slammer quicker than you can scream. Just sit back and let me take care of things. Afterwards I will let you rant and rave all you want at me. Deal?” Alexander said softly against her tempting mouth while awaiting a reply from the sultry woman in his arms.
“Huh? What?” Angerona looked up at the man holding her so closely with confusion.
Alexander gave the woman in his arms a crooked grin as he slowly stepped away from her and watched as the Sheriff waltzed in like he owned the place. His deputy close behind him smacking a wad of gum and looking like the cat who ate the canary.
He hated both them with a passion, but he could not let his displeasure be seen. If he did, they would move for the kill and lock him up in that pitiful excuse of a shack they called a jail house. Even though they had no reason to lock him up. They would just to spite his ass and laugh about it for hours until his lawyer told them to let him go. That was something he wanted to avoid at all costs.
Angerona just stared at him for a moment before slowly turning her head to find that two cops had entered the dark club and were now standing there with smug grins on their faces. If they were not men in uniform, she would have wiped those smiles off their faces with the palm of hand. Seeing as things were quickly getting more complicated than she wanted, Angerona moved away from the caveman beside her and waited for the cops to approach.
The deputy was the first to approach. He gave everyone a glance over and then looked over at the men on the floor. Who were now semi-conscious state and were starting to make noises of pain.
“Well, well. What do we got here? Looks like a fight perhaps or maybe a gang meeting gone bad?”
“Oh, Ed shut up. We haven’t even asked them any questions yet. Just stand back and let me ask what is going on.” The older man said as he began walking to Alexander and the rest.
“It isn’t what it looks like Charlie. Those men over there shot up my club and proceeded to jump my ass. I had no choice but to defend myself. They could have hurt someone here and hurt them bad.” Alex said with as much innocence as he could muster in his voice.
The older gentleman named Charlie looked over at Alex and then back at the men on floor lightly shaking his head.
“If what you say is true, why did you knock them out Mr. Romanous? You know we don’t like violence in our area. We only allowed this club here because it gives the locals something to do and keeps a lot of money here.”
“I know Charlie, but they wouldn’t give up. They wouldn’t leave when I asked either. So, what was I suppose to do? Let them kill someone?”
Alexander was a little miffed at this point and really didn’t feel like going into full details about what really happened. Maybe he could placate the cops and get the Rogues out his club at the same time. At least that was the plan.
The older man sighed as he gave one last look at the men on the floor before turning to his deputy.
“Book them Ed.”
“But, Charlie.”
The Sheriff looked at this deputy like he could kill him and pointed to the men on the floor.
“Now Ed. No more lip.”
Alexander watched as Ed went over to the men and started cuffing them one by one. The entire time Ed was mumbling under his breath. Alex’s hearing was quite acute and he heard everything the deputy said. He tried not to smile when the deputy got done and stood up.
“I could use some help getting these men out of here. Feel like lending a hand Alexander or is your hands to clean to do some dirty work?”
Alexander glared at the man through his sun glasses as he motioned to Drystan to follow him. Both of them went over to the three men on the floor, picked up the lightest two there, and slung them over their shoulders. Alexander made a gesture that said, after you and waited for the deputy to pick up the heaviest out of the three men.
Ed just snorted his disgust and grabbed the other man under his arms. He began dragging him to the door while giving both men dirty looks of disgust.
Angerona watched as all six men went out the doors of the club and out into the chilly night air.
“Uh, excuse me officer? May I ask you something?” Angerona said hesitantly as she approached the older man.
“What is it ma’am?”
“Well, it is just…wondering if an ugly green car was still in the parking lot? With all the commotion going on…I just wanted to make sure I still had a ride home.”
Angerona rubbed her hands nervously together and prayed the car was still in the parking lot. That meant her friends were still around here some where near this club.
“Yes ma’am. In fact there is. Any reason why you be asking?”
“Oh no. It is just that…I think forgot to lock my doors and I didn’t anyone to steal my car.” Angerona said on a nervous smile.
Cedric let out the breath he was holding very slowly when she didn’t reveal the fact her friends were missing. He was sure she would have said something to the cop about it and he didn’t say anything to bring up that fact. The quieter he stayed, the more of chance that Charlie and his goon would leave soon.
“Okay, well ma’am are you new to this area? Did you just move here or…?”
“Oh my friends and I are just visiting. It was a birthday present for me. My friends took me on a vacation. I came to the club tonight to unwind while my friends got some rest at the hotel.”
Angerona didn’t know why she didn’t tell the cop of her missing friends. She had no loyalty to these people, but something deep down was telling her not to say anything. Her grandmother often told her to listen to her gut and she felt right now was a good time to do so. So, she kept silent and pretend she was here by herself.
“Out by yourself then? Well, you be careful going home. All kinds of animals roam these roads and woods. Never know what will happen around here.”
“Oh, thanks for the advice. I will pay special attention and be careful going to the hotel tonight.”
Angerona smiled weakly as she watched as the older man gave one last look over at her and Cedric before heading out the doors of the club. Not soon after Drystan and Alexander came back through the doors. Both with grim looks on their faces. As if the deputy said something rather nasty to them and it really got on their dander up.
“Well, how did it go boss? Did poor ole Ed drive you crazy with his rambling nonsense as usual?”
“Shut up Cedric.”
Alexander practically growled as he walked over to where Angerona was at and then looked down at her.
“Well, now you can rant and rave at me woman. Feel free to do so. Seems like I am the one with the target on his forehead.”
Angerona looked up at the man with curiosity in her eyes and saw that an errant strand of hair had fallen across his handsome face. She had the oddest urge to reach up and brush the hair away lightly. To see if his hair was as soft as it looked.
“Well, I am waiting. I don’t have all night.”
It looked like Mr. Grumpy was back and Angerona about had all she could take with his attitude.
“Fine. If you want me to rant. By the gods, I will rant! But, be warned, I will make your ears bleed with my ranting!”
“Whatever.”
Angerona was now pissed and got up close to Alexander before she started her tirade.
“Let me tell you one damn thing. I don’t appreciate your attitude mister. Another thing, my friends are missing and I think they are still here in this club some where. They wouldn’t leave me here by myself. I told your bartender as much. Now where in the fuck are they at?”
Angerona didn’t care if she pissed the guy off. She was tired and wanted to go back to the hotel room. But, not before she found her friends. She knew now they were here some where and intended to find out where. If it was the last thing she did tonight.
