Chapter 11

I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to update for a while. I had a bit of a hard few weeks after I last updated, and on top of that, I messed up my hand, and only managed to get the chapter of Bridges out. But, it’s better, for the most part.

Eli woke up to an odd smell. Well, not so odd since he’d been smelling it for quite a while, but this morning, it was stronger than ever. Even Ashton had been taking notice, though he never said a word.

Not that he was going to do anything about it at the moment. He was too comfortable where he was on the pelts, with Ashton holding on to him from behind.

It had been a few months since they’d mated, and Eli had adapted quicker than he had expected to. But being here, with Ashton, everything just felt right.

He had dreaded the morning that he thought would come, where he would wake up from his dream and realize that he had been wrong, that meeting Ashton that night had been a terrible mistake, one that was far to late to fix, but it didn’t. Not once did he feel regret for what he’d done.

And the nights with Ashton definitely didn’t hurt either.

Mm… not one bit.

But that smell was starting to get to him. He couldn’t describe it, he’d never smelt anything like it before. It wasn’t as much as a nuisance of smelling it all the time, it was just the annoyance of not being able to tell what it was or where it was coming from.

Other than the fact that it was coming from Eli.

He had thought to tell Mama about it, but she had been in a sort of mood lately, and he knew better than to bother her.

He didn’t mind really, and he knew when it was going to come up. During a certain part of the year, Mama would get distant and moody, and considerably absent-minded, as if she was thinking about something hard.

Eli had wanted to ask her, but he knew it wasn’t his business, and if it wasn’t his business, then he had no reason to know.

There were actually a lot of questions he wanted to ask her. About what she had said soon after he and Ashton had mated, when he asked about his parents. There were things that didn’t quite make since.

Oh well, he shouldn’t think about it. All it was going to do was distract and annoy him, and right now, he had a horny mate to take care of.

Said horny mate was pushing against him from behind, his erection hard against Eli’s backside.

The red wolf pushed back, playfully, hearing a sigh come from his mate, as arms tightened around him from behind.

“Morning.” Ashton whispered into his ear, nuzzling into the back of Eli’s neck as he woke up.

“Mornin.’” Eli replied, pushing back again, a soft noise coming from the white wolf’s throat.

Fingers trailed along his side, slowly, gripping his hips slightly before running over his stomach, before back over his hips, to his thighs, then to his backside.

Eli moved slightly, giving the fingers better access as they traced patterns into his skin, down… down… Ashton’s hand slipped between his legs, cupping his balls slightly, squeezing until Eli moaned.

The hand left his balls, a finger prodding around his entrance before…

Eli yelped, pain shooting up his back as he launched himself off the pelts, crouching down on the floor.

He turned around to see Ashton looking at him with wide eyes, his mouth hanging open slowly.

“That hurt!” Eli told him, shifting back slightly when Ashton made a move towards him.

“I… I’m sorry, are you all right?”

Eli whined as Ashton took him in his arms, nuzzling against him affectionately. The pain started to go away, it was more dull than anything, and the red wolf leaned against his mate.

“That hurt, Ashton.” Eli said quietly, a pout starting to form on his face.

“I’m sorry, Eli. Here, let me take a look.”

Eli had to hold back another yelp as he jumped away from his mate. “No! No fingers!”

Ashton sighed, moving towards the now standing wolf.

“Alright, alright. But if it still hurts tomorrow…” Ashton let his warning hang in the air as Eli nodded, before pulling on his trousers. Safe, safe trousers.

“I’m going to go out for a bit.” Eli said, and Ashton nodded. The white wolf was going to go hunting anyway, despite it was earlier than usual.

Eli left the house, going in a different direction then Ashton did when he left. The pain in his backside had all but dissipated, and he could walk normally, but with the slight fear that the pain would start up again.

He had a thought about telling Mama, but decided against it. At least for the moment. Mama was still in a bad mood, and would be even more so this early in the morning. That, and would be very embarrassing about telling her about the pain, especially about the place. And if she asked about how they found that out…

And, it wasn’t the usual pain after a night with Ashton. This was something else. Hell, even their first night together didn’t hurt this bad.

Eli walked through the woods in thought, not quite paying attention to where he was going, but knowing that he was no where near Ashton’s pack’s territory. Actually, he was closer to the clearing that he and Ashton had played around in all that time ago.

Wasn’t that a fun time. Yes, he and his mate still romped around, regularly, but not here. Here, was a good memory. A very, very good memory.

And one that smelled a lot different than it had before.

Which was more than likely not a good thing.

He sniffed the air, too lazy to take his pants off so that he could shift into his wolf form, and smell the air and ground around him better.

Though, maybe it would be a better idea, since the air had the hint of wolf, one that smelled distinctly familiar.

Eli had the chance to think, oh, crap, before the man he’d only seen once in his life stepped around a tree.

“Been wondering when you’d show up.”

Eli started as the voice hit him, the memory coming back of the wolf that had almost done… very very bad things to him, if not for Ashton fighting him off. His weak legs brought him back, almost falling against a tree that he used to keep himself up.

The red wolf half expected to see a bruised face from where Ashton had hit him, but realized, it had been so many months since then.

“Not even Ashton could stay away, huh? Must have been one hell of a good fuck.” The man went on, stepping closer, the dominant wolf keeping Eli in place, frozen in fear.

Ashton was nowhere around. He’d gone far off in the other direction.

Eli was alone.

“Oh, I’m gonna make you pay for what you done.” The man said, his eyes gleaming with malicious intent.

Eli closed his eyes. There was nothing he could do. He legs were frozen to the ground, and his throat was paralyzed.

First he heard a laugh, and footsteps coming closer. The wolf must have stopped right in front of him, Eli could feel the air against his bare neck, and he could just imagine the man leaning in closer.

Suddenly, he heard a loud bang off in the distance, before an odd, squelching noise quickly followed by a thud near his feet.

Eli waited a moment, when nothing else happened, he cracked an eye open when he saw the brown wolf at his feet, what was left of his ear was bleeding out, blood gathering into a puddle underneath his head.

Eli breathed hard, doing his best to keep the contents of his stomach, when he heard a branch snap, and a man walk into the clearing.

Sort of morbid, that last bit, huh? Well, I’ve been planning on this for a while, I just needed the ability to write it. Anyway, I’m not going to be able to update for the next few days, as I will be without internet, but I’ll use that time to write, and hopefully finish this story and Bridges.
