Chapter 11
Kasia-chan: I'm just happy you like either of them :D. And about the POVs? I've never written it from the vampires/demons POV (i think), and i wanted to try something new.
kylee: Maybe. ;)
Itchan: Don't worry, your forgiven! :).
I meant to ask this in the last chapter, but how do you like the chapter length. I mean, I usually write little more than 2,000 words, but would you want more, like double that or something? Cause I can do that. (This one’s over 3,600...)
Also, sorry if I can’t get a chapter out every day of the weekend, like my DoD story. It’s a bit harder to write, since it’s not mostly just crack.
Thanks for the reviews!
I was so happy when I heard him agree. I hadn't let myself bring my hopes up, because I would have hated to have them dashed.
My little angel was sitting in front of me, on the couch, face flushed from embarrassment as I looked at him. I could feel it, a sort of desperation in the deepest part of his heart. He didn’t really know what he wanted.
I had moved to the floor, on my knees, in front of his own, and he looked down at me.
“But don’t make me doing anything… really gay.” I nodded quickly, I wanted him to know that I wouldn’t force him into anything he didn’t want, but still, there was something I was going to have to do.
“I think we should lay down some rules, what I can and can’t do, till the week is up. Sunday.” I said, and he nodded slowly.
“But what happens after the end of the week?” This was something that I had been thinking about constantly.
“If you decide to be with me, well, I have to leave the city.” It was the closest to the truth as I could get right now.
“Why’s that?”
“Something to do with the clan.”
“Are you in trouble?” He seemed worried, it was odd. The contrasting emotions he were showing me were confusing me, couldn’t he just decide on one thing? I guess it was cute, for him anyway.
“Nothing that I can’t handle.” I told him, internally sighing. Probably not the best thing to say.
“It’s not my fault, is it?” He asked, but I was already shaking me head.
“Nothing to worry about.” Now there was a lie, if there was any. I needed to get him out of here, quick as possible.
“The rules?” He said after a moment, and for a second, I didn’t know what he was talking about, then I remembered.
“I won’t do anything that you really don’t want. But one thing, only one thing a night.” Kaden looked at me suspiciously, and I licked my lips, waiting for him to ask.
“What do you want?” He said vehemently, drawing his knees up to his chest, and putting his arms around them.
“A kiss. Just one a night.” My angel bit his lip, and I shamefully watched, wishing that I was the one biting it.
“That’s it?” I nodded, and Kaden looked away, as if contemplating. Unfortunately, if he wanted out of the deal, he still had a chance, but only for now.
“Fine,” It was like he sealed the deal permanently, but there was something else I wanted to seal it with.
“Kiss to seal?” I was a horny man running out of time. I had to at least try.
“When does the deal actually start?” I knew what he meant. When was the first time I took my kiss for the night.
“Tonight.” I answered, and Kaden had a thoughtful look on his face.
“Would this one also be the only one for the night?” Seemed like he was trying to use anyway to get out of more than one. Well, I think I pushed my luck more than enough for today, and truthfully, I was planning on taking my first kiss of the deal tomorrow night.
“Yes,” I answered.
Kaden looked away again, before licking his lips.
“Fine, but make it fast,” I inwardly smirked. That’s not how it works, but oh well, I’ll do as he asked.
“Lean down a bit,” I told him, and he complied, albeit slowly, stopping a few inches from my face.
I closed the gap slowly, pressing my lips against his gently.
And then I backed away.
Kaden looked a little surprised and confused.
“Why don’t we go to bed, it’s been a long day,” I said, and he nodded. I got up, and headed for my room, Kaden going for his. I was in front of him, so he didn’t see the smile on my face.
I quickly got ready for bed, and listened as he laid down as well.
Of all the things I had to do, I hated it, in a way. I just wanted to have time to be with Kaden, make him feel the way I felt about him.
I started thinking about what I had felt from him earlier, when I got close enough. It was an effect from the bite. It wouldn’t last long, same as what would happen when I finally had him, and even then, it would be shaky.
And I wanted him. So badly, especially after what had happened in the kitchen earlier. I had to move things along, but what could I do?
I fell asleep planning out what to do.
It was Wednesday, four days to go.
I got up, took a shower, and headed into the kitchen. Kaden had yet to wake up, though it was a little past noon, but it wasn’t too long when I heard the slamming of the drawers.
A few minutes later, and Kaden joined me in kitchen, still throwing a suspicious look my way, though I returned it with a smile.
For some odd reason, I felt very good today.
He made himself something to eat, I noticed offhandedly that he didn’t get anything that had to do with sharp utensils.
Kaden sat at he table, opposite me, and began to eat.
“So, what do you want to do today?” I asked, and he looked up.
“What do you mean?” He asked, once he had finally swallowed.
“Anywhere you want to go, something you want to do?”
“Why?” He didn’t want to make this easy, did he?
“What, something wrong with me taking you out on a date?” I continued to smile at him, watching as his face slowly turned red as he stared at me, before looking down, and shrugging.
“Don’t know.” He said after a moment, and I thought.
“Well, I’ll think of something. Tell me if you don’t want to do it, alright?” He nodded, and I began thinking of the things the city had to offer, asking him afterwards.
A zoo, stores, an amusement park, regular parks, movie theaters-
He looked up when I said movie theater.
I looked at him in question. He looked like he was thinking deeply about something.
“Was there something you wanted to go see?” It looked like he was wanting to go, but was having hesitation about it.
“I don’t want to drag you into anything,” Kaden finally replied, but I shook my head.
“If it’s with you, then it’s fine.” Kaden thought hard again, and I could hear his foot tapping on the ground quickly.
“But why?” He asked after a moment, his expression gone to a sad seriousness, if there was such a thing, and it left me guessing as to why, other than the obvious.
“It’s a date, why else?” When I said that, I knew I was answering the wrong thing.
“No, I mean, why me?” I closed my eyes, and clasped my hands on top of the table.
“I don’t know.” And I don’t. I don’t know why fate chose Kaden as my mate, why I had to be with a male, when it could have been a female.
Was this my real sexual orientation? Did I really choose males above females, though I haven’t had prior experiences with them?
Couldn’t it have been easer if he was female? Or couldn’t I just say, ’no,’ through away everything, and go without him for the rest of my life?
It was something I had thought about earlier, though I tried to keep my mind from wandering into that destination.
I knew now, ever since I had his blood, that he was the only one for me, and I’d have him no other way.
It was quiet as I thought about his, and I wanted, no, needed to break this deathly silence. Change the mood of the room.
“What did you want to see?” I asked, and Kaden looked up, from where he was looking at his lap.
“T-there was a movie that I’ve been wanting to see for a while, but it’s a horror movie.” Like anything can be more horrendous than me.
“When’s it start?” I asked, and Kaden squeezed his eyes shut, trying to remember.
“Little after two.” We have a while to kill.
“Alright,” I told him, “What do you want to do before then?”
I didn’t mean it like I was planning on filling up his day with just him and me, though I wouldn’t mind, but I respected that he needed both space and time alone.
“I don’t know,” Kaden shrugged, his face tinged red with the fact that we were actually going to go on a date. Or at least so I thought, anyway.
“I’ll be in the study, if you need me then. We’ll leave thirty before.” I told him, before getting up.
My study, was originally a guest room, but I had taken the bed out, put a desk in, along with many bookshelves.
This was definitely something I was going to miss when I left. I was going to take some of them with me, if Kaden chose me, because they were invaluable, and were dangerous if it fell into a human’s hands.
I had collected them over the years, and I was proud of my large collection. There were a few, that were just plain useless, that the humans would pay high money for, and that’s what I was going to get from it.
At this time, while I waited for my date with Kaden to come, I decided to start organizing.
I began going through the titles of the books, on one side of the wall. They were the valuable ones. The bookshelf on the far side, were just something for entertainment.
I’d have to ask Kaden later, if there were any that he wanted to read. I wasn’t sure, but he might be into it, though I wouldn’t blame him if he wasn’t.
An hour passed I pulled off the most important books. It was a bad place to put them, I know, any number of things could happen, for an enemy to find them so easily, just in the open, but I didn’t care. Fuck the heads if they found out.
Soon it was time to go, and I stopped what I was doing, wiping my hands off, from the dust that had collected on the books, and left the room.
Kaden was sitting on the couch, TV on, knees to his chest again.
“Ready to go?” I couldn’t help but keep the smile off my face. The idea that we were going on a date, got me both nervous and excited.
Kaden nodded, before getting up, and heading to the front door, grabbing his jacket and slipping on his shoes.
I followed after him, and soon we were out. I noticed that Kaden kept at least a foot and a half from me as we walked to the car.
Probably still a little suspicious, but it wasn’t like I was going to jump him out of the blue, not that I didn’t want to.
Soon we were driving down the streets, and in front of the movie theater. By the looks of the crowd, and by the sound of their voices of what ticket they asked for, the only my little angel wanted to see was long awaited for.
Eventually we got to the front of the line, tickets paid, and into the building.
Kaden was looking around nervously, whether it was because he didn’t like being around people, the fact that he was on a date with a guy, or anything else, it eluded me, and I wasn’t about to ask.
We found out seats, and soon the movie started, we sat in the very back, and I could just feel the anticipation radiating from those around us.
I was already dozing by the time the movie even got anywhere into the plot. It wasn’t that it was bad, but I wasn’t one for horror movies, most consisting of idiotic women or men, that became the only survivor from an attack by a poorly characterized monster, looks and mannerisms far off the mark of what a true demon that they portrayed was.
I had had my arms laying on the arm rests, since I made sure to pick a spot with no one on either side, so they were ours, and was pleasantly surprised when Kaden’s went up against mine. It might have been accident, forgotten because of a distraction caused by the movie, but I still felt a little bit of hope that tonight would make a leap in my plan.
I… daydreamed, the rest of the movie, drifting in and out so I could get the gist of the plot. The humans didn’t do half bad on this. I can see why it was a ‘must see.’
This was also a time that I was very grateful that I had fed from Kaden earlier, because the sounds of so many pumping hearts, quickened by fright, almost made me drool.
I almost laughed at myself, there was something really wrong with me. It felt so hot in this room, there must be something wrong, heat doesn’t effect me, does it? Why’s it so loud…?
I shook my head, and quickly grabbed a hold myself. This was definitely not the time to go crazy.
I thought about excusing myself to the bathroom, but I couldn’t leave my angel here all alone, and I don’t think I could make a good excuse of why I was gone for the rest of the movie.
I managed to wait it out, the movie ended, and I was free from the pounding in my head.
Even better, when we walked out, walking towards my car, Kaden walked a little closer to me then he had before.
It was still light out, only four, plenty of time to do something else. And I thought of that something else we could do, when Kaden’s stomach growled.
“Would you like to go to dinner?” I asked, turning to him to see his beautiful face.
My little angel looked up at me, the red tinge returning, before nodding. Dinner it was.
Not thirty minutes later, we were in a small, family owned restaurant. We were in seats near the window, sitting across from each other, out of earshot of others, at least if we didn’t speak too loudly.
Kaden ordered, and I waved off the offer of food.
“What would happen if you did eat food?” Kaden asked, snacking on a roll from a basket that they had brought us.
“Nothing. I can eat it, of course, but it tastes like... disgusting.” There wasn’t really anything I could compare it too. Everything tasted different yes, but it didn’t settle in my stomach, and ended up coming back up later, and that was really not a fun experience.
“Then how do you make such good food?” He asked, a confused expression on his face. He was referring to when I cooked for him while he was sightless.
“Years of practice.” I didn’t say that I also had help with a few other demons, that actually did have a sense of taste, other than just for blood.
But, a sense of smell was also something that helped a big deal.
“What about blood? Does it taste different?” He asked, and I thought about it.
“Yes. It depends on the vampire. We all have a different preference. Adam, he likes the kind of blood, not very healthy for the humans, harmful substances, like drugs and alcohol.”
“What about your preference?” Kaden’s head cocked to the side, and I was so close to blurting out, 'yours', but I kept my mouth shut.
“I’m not much for bitter, or sour. Sweet.” Sugary. I’d never really thought about it, but in a way, I had a ‘sweet tooth.’
And Kaden’s blood, it fit everything to a T.
He must indulge in a lot of candy and sugary products. I have to make sure that we get that regulated, so I don’t make him overdo it.
The food came, and I watched as Kaden ate, slower this time then the other times that I watched him eat.
He looked up at me from time to time, catching my gaze, before quickly looking down, but not before I caught the look in his eyes.
He was thinking about something, and I knew what it was.
Us.
He was thinking about us. I wasn’t sure how I knew, though I had a large bet it was because of the mating bond between us.
He wasn’t afraid of being gay, it was something else.
My little angel, was afraid of being hurt.
I stared out the window, thinking over of what I had just learned. It was getting dark, so I checked my watch, almost six.
Fuck, time flew right by me.
“Done,” Kaden said, and I looked over at him. He was leaning back, hands on his stomach, and a content and happy look on his face.
I let him sit for a minute, before we left, paying on the way out.
We walked out of the restaurant, and my angel yawned, before stretching his arms high over his head. I couldn’t help but notice the skin I saw when his shirt lifted up.
“Can’t be tired, already, can you?” I asked, getting a playful glare as my answer.
“Thanks, you know, for the movie and food,” he said, smiling back at me, walking even closer to me.
“How about a walk around the park?” I asked, the only thing I could think of to prolong this date. I didn’t want to sound desperate, but I think Kaden caught it.
“Alright,” He answered with a small smile, and that’s where we walked to next. It wasn’t far away.
I was happy to know that it was the one that I occupied many times. There weren’t that many people there either, which was something else I was grateful about. I wanted it to be just me and him.
There was a track that ran around the park, and part of it led into a large copse of trees.
As we walked closer to the trees, I could sense the hesitation in Kaden, and I turned to him.
“We can go home now, if you want.” I offered, but he only shook his head.
“Might as well finish the trail.”
Even still, he was hesitant to go in. At first, I thought it was because he might be scared to go in there, with me, since there weren’t any others that we could see that were walking the trail, and it hurt, to think that he was afraid that I’d do something.
When we walked in however, instead of walking a little away, he only got closer, as if he was ready to catch onto my arm.
“Is something wrong?” I asked, and he shook his head, but I was persistent.
“I... I don’t really like being in the dark, unless I’m trying to sleep. Its because I go blind for a while, I-I just don’t like it.” I grabbed onto his arm, and turned him around.
“You should have told me this,” I said, getting a guilty look. He might not be able to see my expression to clearly, but that in no way meant I couldn't see his. The night was like looking at something in black and white.
“Sorry?” It was more of a question than anything. I pulled us over to a large patch of light from the moon in between the tree branches.
“You have to tell me what you do or don’t like, okay?” I said, not trying to sound mean, and only earned a guilty look again, before I sighed.
“I’m sorry...”
“Don't be. Just remember next time, okay? I don’t want to make you do something you really don’t want to do.”
We were quiet as we stared at each other.
He was thinking again, I could tell by the way his eyebrows scrunched a bit, though not as far as if he was confused. It was about us again.
It was then I noticed how close we were, my hands on his shoulders, barely even more than a foot apart.
The moonlight hit his face, just right, so pale.
I wanted him, but I had to control myself. That’s what I’ve been doing so far, haven’t I?
But his lips, it was like they were begging for me to close that distance between us, and I wanted to so badly. I wanted to touch him, and possess him, make him mine.
He was going to be mine, but not tonight. More than likely not tomorrow, either. But soon. It was going to be soon.
I was distracted from my thoughts, when Kaden bit his bottom lip and...
Looking into his eyes, something was different. Something changed, something about us. He’s decided whatever it was that he was thinking about earlier.
He trusts me.
He trusts me now.
kylee: Maybe. ;)
Itchan: Don't worry, your forgiven! :).
