Chapter 11

The breeding stock – a dozen of them – had swarmed the room quite swiftly, attacking the angel nearest them with gusto. He saw them move from angel to angel methodically, collecting what they needed, and then leaving the creatures alone, gathering in a huddle to share the profits of their exploits. It was always interesting to watch the stock at their work. But now that it was done…

"Do you want me to untie them, or are you planning on playing with them first?"

The Other\'s bored voice made it seem that such occurrences were almost regular, when in fact they were very, very far apart. That made Lucifer\'s mouth twitch in a sort of smile. Then he reached out a hand to pat the Other on the shoulder. "Well, you can leave them as they are for now. I\'ll have some of the Others clean them up before I go in. Wouldn\'t do to make a mess now, would it?" He laughed slightly. His own personal attendant just frowned, giving no reply. Lucifer made up for the silence with a glance towards the three still tied, slumped forwards, all of them on their knees, bodies shaking slightly.

"How long can they stay like that without suffering adverse side effects?" he wondered aloud.

"Not all that long, milord," the Other replied instantaneously. "After a bit of stretching out, they\'ll be good to go again, but for now… It\'s probably best to do whatever you wish and then release them. They aren\'t created to be kept in such form for extended periods."

"As you will then," Lucifer said. "Untie them, then, but make sure to keep them apart. I don\'t want the redhead getting torn apart by the other two."

"The redhead, milord?"

He kept forgetting the Others had colorless sight. "The one on the far right. Keep him away from the other two. They won\'t hurt each other too badly, but just hearing them might hurt him. I believe the Others drugged him with the sound-sensitivity."

"Out of curiosity, milord, what was given to the other two?"

Lucifer snickered. "Scent and touch."

The Other winced. "I take it milord is not overly fond of the other two then."

"That would be a correct assessment," Lucifer agreed. "I am not at all fond of either one, though the redhead strikes me as quite intriguing."
