Chapter 11
Just Like Old Times
“Rochelle Juliana Lee. Will you marry me?”
She blinked several times, looking back and forth at Jeremy then the ring. Rochelle opened her mouth not too sure what she wanted to say, but she choked out something. “J-Jeremy… Ja… Juh…” She cleared her throat, “I… I… I… dunno, I mean, I haven’t even finished school and I plan to get my master’s degree and I’m working and, Jeremy… Isn’t this too soon?” She sighed, scratching her head.
“Oh, Rochelle, I’ve thought about this so much, and it’s okay! Just say you’ll become my fiancée and we don’t have to get married until you’re ready. I’ll wait for you until the end of time.” Jeremy spoke with ease as if he rehearsed it so many times.
With a defeated sigh, Rochelle smiled faintly, “Okay, Jeremy. I’ll marry you.” She looked at the engagement ring as she slipped it on. It fit perfectly. She was a tad bit curious as to how he knew her ring size but…
My goodness, what am I getting myself into? In the back of her mind, she secretly wished it was Danny who was proposing.
Seven Days Later
“So? When’s the wedding?” Rochelle spoke into her Bluetooth as she drove into the parking lot of the company she worked at.
“We were hoping somewhere in September. Oh, hey! You’ll be my maid of honor, right?”
“Oh, you dork. How can I say no to that? No ugly purple dresses, puh-leeeaaase.” She laughed while she stepped out of the car. She wasn’t going to tell her best friend about her engagement. At least, not yet, she wasn’t ready. Although, Yvonne did know about her relationship with the other Pryce – she was sworn to secrecy. “Darling girl, I’ve got to go work now. Yeah. Yeah, have fun plaaanning your weeedding. I love you too, Yvonne. Ha. Ha. Ha. Bye!” The young woman smiled to herself as she made her way into the building, instantly greeted by many of the men on her floor.
She quickly made her way into the elevator and just as the door was ready to close, it opened back up once more. She widened her eyes seeing a group of five young men.
Just my luck. Rochelle smiled at them as they moved into the small space. They didn’t recognize her and there, she exhaled the breath she didn’t even realize she was holding. Though, Rochelle didn’t expect them to, in the course of three years, she did change to be rather… sophisticated, that and her hair was now a beautiful silky black and with three inches of height added in.
“Excuse me, miss.” She turned around, raising an eyebrow, “What floor is the graphics design office area?” Rochelle smiled. Scott.
“I believe that is my floor.”
“Daaaay-uuum! A fine woman like you… a designer?” A red head popped up, grinning widely. It disappeared as soon as Scott punched him in the arm. He didn’t change at all.
Rochelle shrugged as the door opened, “Excuse me.” And she walked out towards her office. She quickly gathered her designs making her way into another room this time. It was empty… for now.
She took a few deep breaths trying to calm herself before the boys showed up. Then there it was, she heart voices coming down the hallway. “Here we go…” Rochelle whispered to herself as she sat down one end of the table.
The same group of young men walked in, each of them with a surprised look on their faces. They took their seat with Danny at the opposite end of Rochelle.
“Hello.” Rochelle smiled, “Celestial Haven. Mind if I ask for your names?” One by one they gave their names to her – it wasn’t like she didn’t know. She smiled, tugging a black strang of hair behind her ears, “So… I’ve got a couple CD designs he-“
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait. We gave our names, how about you give us yours?” Mike grinned, leaning into the table.
Rochelle hesitated. She was almost tempted to give them a fake name. “Rochelle.”
The room fell silent as they heard her name. There wasn’t too many Rochelle’s in the world. “A… Rochelle, Rochelle Lee?” Danny whispered, eyes wide, hoping that it was her. After three long years. “Are you?”
Her smile slowly disappeared as her answer was more of a nod. “A-anyway, as I was saying I’ve got-“
“Don’t! Don’t change the subject.” Danny slammed his hands on the table. Everyone stared at him – even the people that stood outside of the office. “Rochelle…” His voice filled with hurt.
“Yes?”
“Why are you acting like this?”
“I don’t understand, am I not going my job?” She blinked a few times, knowing well enough that she knew what he meant. Perhaps, pretending her way out of it, might made things easier.
“Three years.”
“Please. Let me do my job.” She spoke up quickly, ignoring his comment and so they did. Everyone watched her as she explained her designer. Afterwards, they all made voiced their opinions on which was their favorite and compromised from there.
Everyone but Danny who kept his blue eyes on her and she could feel it. Ooh, how she wanted to just go over there and kiss him, but… she was engaged.
“Alright, well, this is it. Thank you guys for coming here on such short notice. I know you’re busy with the tours lately.” She gathered up her designs and headed out of the room. Everyone looked confused.
Danny stood up, running out of the room, grabbing Rochelle. He turned her around, hugging her tightly; his breathing ragged.
She fought her every urge to react to his bold move but in the end, her heart overruled her mind. She dropped everything as they scattered onto the carpeted floor. Rochelle wrapped her arms around his neck.
Everyone watched the old lovers, a smile on their face.
“H-hold up! Ari-“ Her boss appeared with a rather stern look on his face. He was stopped by Scott.
“They love each other.” He grinned.
“I miss you so much, baby…” His voice trembled as he stroked her face, his thumbs gently stroking her lips. “I… can’t believe it’s really you. I waited for this moment, I waited for three years.” His blue eyes began to water as he finally was able to see the love of his lie. “I miss you and I never stopped loving you.”
Rochelle couldn’t believe her ears; he still loved her. “Danny, I…” She wanted to say that she loved him as well, but there was Jeremy. “I’m sorry.” Her voice cracked. She pulled away from him, picking up her sketches; her salty tears dripped on her hands and work.
She stood up once more; smiling at the boy she gave her everything to and ran off towards her office.
This was one of the times where she wished that her door had a lock on it.
How could she stop loving him? Doing that was just impossible.
Scott looked around at everyone, with a stunned expression.
Danny stood there for a moment as everyone had their eyes on him. It didn’t matter, not like it was anything new. He clenched his jaw, deciding what he was going to do. He lost her once; he wasn’t going to lose her again. He turned knob of the door once he made his way to her office, and to his surprise, the door opened.
Rochelle sat in the corner of her room, her face covered in her hands. She lookd up when she heard the click of her door closing.
“Baby,” He whispered, kneeling down in front of her, his hands wiping away her tears and stroked her hair gently. And just like the old days, he planted his lips gently on hers and she reacted. She returned his kiss. When he pulled away, he couldn’t help but smile, “I missed that.”
“Me too.” She replied, turning away from him. It was true though. Just as the two of them kissed again, the door swung open the faces of her old friends popped in. Everyone ‘ooh’d and ‘aah’d.
Rochelle couldn’t help but laugh, burying her face in Danny’s chest – just like the old times.
They dragged her out of her office and the building. Literally. She didn’t have a say in it. Scott threw her over his shoulders and walked out. Everyone left without another word.
They made their way to a local coffeehouse with fans squishing their faces against the window trying to get a better look of the famous musicians. Rochelle looked around, a bit uneasy. Perhaps three years ago, she would have been used to it, but now, everything seemed alien.
“Ignore them.” Russell smiled, his hair still as blue as ever. “So, how are you?”
Rochelle smiled shyly – she was still the same as she was so many years ago, she was still that wallflower. “Well, I’m a sophomore at a Uni and I have a job at one of the biggest design company.” She smiled, “What about you guys?” She really wanted to hear about them, that and the fact that she didn’t want to tell them everything.
“Well, Randy is in Italy studying art while Robert is in Cali with this fiancée.” Russell grinned, “Other than that, we’re great. Scott’s getting married soon, Yvonne should have told you. Sure you know that.” She nodded, “well, the rest of us are still the same.”
“I’m surprised that being a celeb hasn’t gotten to your head.” She giggled, just like old times.
“Almost!” Mike grinned as she rolled her eyes.
“I’ve got the gift of one liners, and you’ve got the-” Rochelle jumped as her phone began ringing. “H-hello? Oh, hey ba- boy. No, not today. I’ve met up with a couple of old friends. Heh, you don’t know them, silly. Yeah, alright. Bye. Me too.” She hung up the phone and scott quickly snatched it away from her. “H-hey!”
“Who called you?” He blinked a few times. Just as nosy as always. He grinned as she attempted to take it away from him. Scott caught a glimpse of the person’s name and his smile wavered but it came back before anyone noticed. “Gay Boy?” He covered for her.
“What? I’m not allowed to have gay friends?” Rochelle snatched back her phone, stuffing it in her purse as Scott gave her the you-better-explain-everything look. Nothing changed, well, almost. The group continued to catch up on the times they lost and after the sun disappeared behind the buildings and the fans thinned out, they headed out for a VIP dance club.
Now that everyone was older, they did almost everything with little or no restriction.
While everyone was inside drinking shots, Scott took his chance and took Rochelle away from the group. He folded his arms across his chest, an eyebrow arched. “Jeremy?”
“Yeah.”
“Pryce?”
“Yeah.”
“Rochelle.”
“Okay!” She sighed, taking his arm as they slowly walk around. She fumbled through her purse, and found a cigarette. She lit it. “Well, I met Jeremy when I started at Uni. He was helping out and we just kinda started talking. After a while, he asked me to be his girlfriend so I thought it would have been a good idea if I started dating someone else. I wasn’t really over Danny, then. I thought,” She paused, taking in a drag and exhaled. “it would have been a good idea, so you know, I could get over him.”
“But a Pryce? That doesn’t quite make a big difference.”
“He was the only one that treated me as if I wasn’t some slut and wanted to fuck.”
Scott frowned at her choice of words, “Are you over him? Danny?”
“I wish I could say yes…” She stared at the ground, dragging her feet, “For a while, I thought I was alright, but then, when I heard that I was going to be designing the band’s CD cover, everything just came back. The feelings I thought was long gone, came back.” She sighed, pulling her hair over her shoulder, her finger running through them.
“You can break up with Jeremy. Go back to Danny.”
“It’s easier said than done, Scott.” He gave her a confused look and with a defeated sigh, she dug through her pockets, pulling out a diamond ring. It twinkled stunningly under the dim lightly before she stuffed it back in her pocket. He looked shocked, “I know. I know. I should have said no, but…”
Rochelle looked at her best friend as he shook his head. “I’ll keep it a secret, but you know, eventually, sooner or later Danny’s going to find out. Through him or you… I know you and danny will marry one day. Seize that chance before it’s too late.” He wrapped an arm around her shoulder as they traced their way back to the club.
“Oh.” Scott dropped his arm and took the cigarette, tossing it onto the street just in time for a car to flatten it. “Don’t smoke anymore. It’s bad. So stop.”
The club was danced to the beat of the bass that pulsed it way throughout the entire area. It played of the latest hip-hop and rap music with couples dancing and grinding – it was like sex on hardboard. Only members and those who were celebrities were allowed to enter the club. Club Kaleb.
“’Ey! Rochelle! Scoott! Whea ya guh?” Mike glanced up as the duo showed up. He was more than just a little bit tipsy. “C’mon, git a shut!” He held up a tiny glass cup to thm as he downed a Stoli. The two sober ones glanced at each other and grinned. They took shots of their one. Only thing was, Rochelle had very, very, very low alcohol tolerance. One shot of vodka for her, could get her way beyond tipsy.
Danny came in, wrapping his arms around her waist. “You know you shouldn’t drink.” His breath reeked of vodka.
Rochelle giggled, taking another shot before she pulled him onto the dance floor where all the bodies moved as one. Their bodies pressed up against each others, her chest touching his. His hands gripped her waist tightly while her arms hung loosely around his neck.
She began sweating as they danced to the rhythm; it was as if there was no one else in the room. Their faces were inches apart; their lips parted slightly, breathing heavily. The two of them danced there for a good amount of time, forgetting that they were with friends.
“Rochelle. Let’s go. I wanna. I wanna. Be with you. Only you.” He whispered into her ear, panting, pausing in between each phrase.
She stopped and without a second thought; she gave him an okay. The two of them left the club without another word to their friends.
From the bar, the remaining four watched the couple leave. “Bet you a hundred bucks they’ll go back to the suite and do it.” Mike grinned, glancing at Scott, knowing that he’d object. And he did.
***
Their lips met in a clash, his tongue finding its way into her mouth, stroking the brim of her teeth before he dipped in further. Their hands roamed over each other’s bodies, groping at every inch.
Rochelle moaned as Danny grinded up against her body, his hands cupping her face. He glanced up, his lips never leaving hers as he led her into his room and when they arrived, he pushed her onto the bed.
He kissed her jaw line, his hands traveling up her blouse. He wasn’t able to help but groan at the touch of her. Her soft skin; her perfect body – all for him. He pulled his hands out, quickly unbuttoning her shirt. “Rochelle…” He groaned as he rocked into her once more, his erection pressing up against her thighs.
The bra came off next. He took her nipple into his mouth while he played with the other one, pinching it gently between his thumb and index. She arched her back at his touch, her hands gripping his blonde locks.
Danny moved up once more, claiming her lips. His hand cupping her breast gently before it trailed down her stomach, his fingers barely brushing against her skin. She giggled in between their kisses. She was ticklish. His hand slipped under her skirt, under her panties. He smiled a bit, his finger finding her clit, rubbing it in a circular motion. He was thanked with her sensual moans.
He nibbled on her lower lip, sucking on his gently as his finger dipped into her heated core, pumping it in and out slowly before adding another finger to it, and picking up the pace. Rochelle panted, her hips arching to his thrusts. Her walls clenched at his fingers; she was at the brink of orgasm.
“Danny. Danny.” She whispered his name between the pants. Rochelle grabbed his hand, stopping him. “I can’t do this…” She pushed herself up, sliding away from him, “I can’t do this.” Rochelle found her bra, clasping it back on and re-buttoned her blouse once she found that. “This was a mistake, I shouldn’t have gone back here with you… I was drunk. I’m sorry…”
Danny sat on the bed, “A mistake?”
“Yes, Danny.”
“Why?”
“Because… that was three years ago.” Once she was dressed, she fixed her hair and made her way out the door and to the elevator. Danny followed behind her. “We’re not together anymore.” Rochelle continuously pushed at the down arrow, wishing that it would travel faster. Things were getting awkward.
“Well, be with me again.” He grabbed her arm, pulling her against him. “We can be together again. I know you still love me.”
It was no lie. She still did. Scared, Rochelle refused to look at him, and waited for the arrival of her ride downstairs. “I’m sorry.” She whispered once more.
Ding!
She turned to face the opening door, finding her drunken friends, minus Johnny, in the compartment. They all greeted her, everyone exiting at the same time. “Get off!” “Let me out first!” “I was here first!” “Who grabbed my ass?!” Eventually, they all came out and she rushed in.
“I’ll see you at the wedding.” Rochelle smiled with eyes filled with unshed tears.
“Wait! Rochelle!” The door closed as he tried to get in with her. He frantically pushed the down button, but it was already too late. “Scott.” He turned to glare at his best friend with those icy blue eyes. He was drunk and it was the best time to get everything out.
Next Day
The doors opened to Jeremy’s apartment and it closed. Rochelle slipped off her jacket, calling out to him. “Where are you?” but he was silent. She had a horrible day. She knew what was in the newspapers and she knew for sure that her fiancé read the papers.
She found him sitting in the living room, sipping his grape juice wine. He glanced up at her, his gray eyes cold and pissed. “’Danny Pryce and Ex-love : Are they together again?’ Should I continue reading?”
Rochelle stayed where she was, looking at him with a frightful expression. “Jeremy, I –“
“What is this?” He shouted, slamming his wine glass onto the marble table, “Huh? What is this? Old friends?” He stood up, making his way over towards his fiancée. For some reason, he seemed to tower her so much more than usual.
“I… I had to do a-“
“Did I say you could talk?” He snapped and she flinched. “How could you go off hanging out with Danny? My brother? Did you guys fuck?”
“Jeremy! How can you-“
“SHUT UP.” He yelled, “I DON’T NEED MY FIANCEE ACTING LIKE A SLUT HANGING OUT WITH SOME FUCKING CELEBRITY!”
Rochelle trembled as he yelled. Her eyes were closed as she turned away from Jeremy, making her way quickly to the door, opening it slightly. And in a quiet voice, she spoke to him, “I’m not a slut, just to let you know. I don’t go off sleeping around with other men. I’m true.” She lied. Rochelle glanced back at her angry fiancé, tears falling down her face, “I’m going home for a few weeks. I’ll see you later.”
She slipped her way out of the room, running as fast as her tired legs could take her. She wanted to get away so bad.
***
“Danny! We have to go! We’re going to be late!” Scott sighed, regretting that he just yelled as his head throbbed painfully. “Damn it, hurry up.” His best friend remained non-responsive.
“You know what?” He glared at Scott, “I can’t believe she’d do that. My very own brother. How can she do that to me? She loves me.”
“Well, you know, it’s not very nice of you to manipulate me like that last night.” He frowned, remembering parts of the late night, “Let’s go. We’ll talk about this in the car.”
“I wanna see her again.”
“You can do that later!” He growled as he began to lose his patience.
“No.”
“Stop acting like a fucking brat!”
“Fuck you.”
“That’s it.”
***
While driving to the airport, Rochelle dialed Yvonne’s cell, telling her that she was going to go down to Florida to visit. “Alright, I’ll see you in a few hours. Bye, sweets.” She hung up, wiping away a tear from her face.
***
“Hey, honey. What? Really? Alright.” Scott glanced over at his friends, “I’ll be there somewhere around midnight. Yeah, everyone’s gonna come a long. I love you. Bye.” He hung up on his fiancée, glancing over at the group, “We’re going to Florida after the concert.”

And he did.
While driving to the airport, Rochelle dialed Yvonne’s cell, telling her that she was going to go down to Florida to visit. “Alright, I’ll see you in a few hours. Bye, sweets.” She hung up, wiping away a tear from her face.
