the gecko army departed slowly back into the forest with a few muffled squeaks as bane and jess obviouslly started a life long passion for working together in order to harrass my boyfriend(s). "come on. we need to find core so we can talk." Jess turned indignantly. "who is this 'we' woman? do you have a pixie in your pocket?" I smiled. "you are going to help me, then I will be going to return bane to his home range." "oh really?" Jess stalked over to stand straight in front of me. "can I come?" I sighed, feeling tired. "Jess..." "yes dear?" "your not helping, silent scythe is his finace, I'm haveing semi-unforseen problems with core, and the valley needs some one to keep Ruby on track. if you are sure you want to take the risk and can find someone else to keep ruby in line, yes you may." he frowned. "I knew about it, why didn't you tell me?" "I didn't want you in danger, you should have figured that out too. I know you can take care of yourself, but it doesn't mean that you have hurl yourself into harms way because you can."
"what if I want to?" silence. "you aren't my mother, if I want to go, you can't stop me."
I held my arms in front of me, frowning. "true... but I need you here. I need to know the valley is safe."
he sighed. tired of our argument already. "look, Jess."
I started...he held up his hand, silenceing me. "Fine. I'll stay here, but if you have any problems, with anyone...I'm comeing after you. And that is final. jack and jill will watch the valley if i leave, jacks knows me enough I'll tell her if something comes up." I cast my eyes down. "I'm sorry jess! I can't help this. I need to know that everyone is safe here. I'll take my spellbook, and we will leave before dawn." bane piped up "I'll protect her Jess. you don't have to worry." Jess shook his head. "It's not you I'm worried about. now Lily, promise me! promise me you'll watch that vampire. I knew he was bad news from the start."
"yes, I'll watch him jess. I promise I'll be careful. tell the foxes I'll be leaveing for me will you?" he nodded briskly, face set. "okay Bane, let's find Core, we've got a long night ahead of us."
Core was resting in a tree a few miles away, brow furrowed and in deep thought. why does she reject my advances so? most mortal women are crazy for any vampire they get their hands on. he turned on his branch, resting the back of his head on the tree trunk. they are comeong for me now, searching. they'll need my protection to leave. I should help them, but that woman! I'll leave her be for now, but next time she will explain before turning away from me!
Lily was on Bane's back, he was flying carefully in dragon form, skimming the treetops looking for Core. he had to be around here somewhere! Bane looked up with one big reptilian eye. Lily bent down and patted his dull,scaly neck. "we'll find him! we just need to keep looking!" he turned his focus back to the trees, and they winged their way through the night.
