Part 11

Inside the Haunted

Part 11

-----------------------------

I waited for a few more moments, watching Francesca and the leader cuddle and kiss and all that jazz. It was BEYOND the disgusting point.

“Ugh, Emily is something going to happen soon?” I asked wearily. This time travel was making me really tired.

“Yes…just wait a moment Madigan.” Emily said patiently. We waited for another few minutes then Emily hit me hard on the shoulder.

“Madigan, watch closely!” Emily said. Francesca and the leader were talking quietly while their followers filed in again one by one.

“The plan is finished sir. Everyone is dead now.” One of the men said. The leader nodded.

“Excellent. I’m rich in souls and now the gold from the rich snobs that are aboard is mine to have!” the leader said happily. There was still something familiar about that voice, like I had heard it before somewhere, but I couldn’t place a name on it.

“What exactly do you mean ‘yours’ darling?” Francesca asked coldly. Her eyes were on fire and glaring at the leaders direction.

“Well dear, it shall belong to me, along with your soul. May God have mercy on you. Oh wait, he can’t because I’LL have your soul!” the leader cackled while Francesca fell to her knees.

--------------------------------

“Emily what’s happening?” I asked quickly, but I had a vague idea of what was going to happen anyway. Emily looked at me.

“Isn’t it obvious?” she asked me. I nodded. Then the strangest thing happened. It was like someone had muted the sound for a moment as Francesca said the leaders name.

“…Please, have mercy on me Ch…e!” she said, the name once again blocked out.

“Who’s name is she saying?” I asked, confused.

“You are the one to figure that out.” Emily said. Two of the leaders followers stood behind Francesca and bound her hands behind her back. She was still on her knees, looking at her lover like she was being betrayed.

“How could you do this to me Ch…ie?!” she asked of him. The leader cackled loudly.

“You mean nothing to me but your soul certainly does.” He said. And with that, he snapped his fingers and one of the men took out a knife and slit Francesca’s throat. My scream could have waked the dead, but there was no one but Emily to hear it.

-------------------------------------

“What a horrible thing…” I gasped, my shaking hands blocking my eyes.

“I know. It’s awful. ‘He’ is a bad man.” Emily said.

“So…what happened to Francesca? Is she still stuck on the Seahawk with you?” I asked. Emily nodded, but it was a half-hearted nod.

“She is, but I haven’t seen her since before I died. She was always so beautiful and a little…scandalous sometimes. She cheated on ‘Him’ many times with some of the men passengers, but I don’t think that’s why ‘He’ killed her. ‘He’ is just power hungry…rather soul hungry.” Emily said.

“Oh.”

“Have you figured out ‘His’ name yet?” Emily asked hopefully.

“Uh…no. I need more hints.” I said. Emily’s face fell.

“I don’t have anything else to show you, and if I tell you ‘His’ name, I will never be able to leave, even if you do stop ‘Him’.” Emily said sadly.

“No Emily, I’ll figure it out. I promise. I’ll do whatever it takes. Are you sure you don’t have one more memory to show me?” I asked. Emily thought for a moment, and then nodded. She opened a portal again and we stepped inside.

------------------------------------

Once again, I fell through time and I fell into another memory with ‘Him’ in it. He was sitting at the table once again, but he was alone. My heart skipped a few beats when I saw Francesca’s bloodstains on the ground next to the table.

“I need…more souls…” the leader said. Before he could continue, Emily tugged on my shoulder.

“Madigan, don’t get mad at this memory, please. I’m so sorry for it, but…” Emily started, but her former transparent ghost walked into the room interrupted her.

“What did you need Sir?” she asked. I looked over at Emily and her eyes were cold and lifeless. She had obviously made a mistake in this memory.

“I need more souls Emily.” The leader said.

“Please don’t make me! I don’t want to hurt anyone else!” she begged and the leader jumped up angrily.

“Are you neglecting your duties to me Emily!?” the leader asked. She nodded defiantly.

“Even if you possess me, I won’t do it! Those people are nice and friendly to me!” she said.

“Well then, I’ll have to do just that…” with that, the leader jumped towards Emily and faded into her body. Emily’s whole body became bloody and pale.

“Madigan come on…unfortunately you need to see this.” Emily said to me, grabbing my hand.

-------------------------------------

We followed the possessed Emily through the halls, my fear increasing. Who were they about to kill? Then I heard voices that made my heart swell.

“…miss her so much. Our little Madigan.” A woman’s voice said. My…mother?

“I know, it’s hard to leave her behind, but someday we’ll teach her how to do this.” A man’s voice said. My…father? Tears welled up inside my eyes.

“Hopefully she’s safe. Ah, Emily! Nice to see you again!” my mother said. I looked wildly at the possessed Emily and she was smiling evilly.

“Hello there John and Theresa. The collection will be completed.” She said. My parents looked at her confused.

“What…was that?” Theresa asked.

“The collection shall be completed with you.” The possessed Emily repeated. My father’s eyes grew wide.

“You’re collecting…souls, aren’t you? Emily…why are you doing this?” he asked. There was a pause then Emily laughed.

“You complete ‘Him’.” She said. And just like that, the possessed Emily killed the both of them while being possessed by ‘Him’. I covered my eyes, but that didn’t stop my parent’s screams of pain. When the job was done, ‘He’ came back out of Emily. She looked down at Theresa and John and started to cry.

“Why did you make me kill my friends?” she demanded.

“Because, I needed them. And besides, you’re the one who gave me the excellent idea in the first place. But I’m not complete. They have a daughter…Madigan. I need her…and you’re going to kill her for me.” ‘He’ said. Emily started to cry again as I stood there numb.
