Ballad
Ballad
Looking through the eyes of gods
A person would see all
From the mountains of snow and the sea of cod
From the rise of an empire and then the fall
Look into a trickster’s eyes
And many a lie you’ll find
He will become what you despise
Though I’m sure he will not mind
The eyes of a sinner show the pain
That comes from years of sorrow
Emotions there that they will never gain
Their life you would never want to borrow
Children’s eyes show hope and love
Years not yet taken their tole
They still search the heavens above
Seeking angels to guard their soul
Then there are the eyes of mine
Who have seen their fair share of it all
They truly are the windows to the divine
But serve to my beck and call
