Chapter 11 – 12 Hours Remaining (2:00 AM)
“This wedding keeps growing in price every day.” A gaggle of girls looked over at the older gentleman who had made the remark, a dashing figure who still wore a suit and looked as if he had yet to even enter a day of work instead of a man who had raced to and from work, had lunch with a bride-to-be and then rushed back and forth again, leaving his fellow husbands behind to work late in the house as he ticked off the time until his baby would no longer be his baby. Amatsu was a dashing figure standing in front of the police station and looking anything but perturbed at the situation.
Bliss, Mercedes, Tiera, Rhapsody, and Lilis stood around him, thanking him one thousand times for the bail he had put up for three of them, Bliss, Mercedes, and of course Rhapsody. Tiera and Lilis had not been held for they had done no damage, though the wish had been welling in one of them. Lisa had not followed but had decided to sneak out of the back of the club and away from the process of elimination. She had been afraid that by siding with Yuna and Harmony it would only land her in the hospital as well.
“Now, who is going to tell me exactly what happened?” He was patient in his askance and his eyes looked over every girl. No girl offered any explanation. “Does it bother none of you that Yuna is definitely going to lose her baby and that it is a fifty/fifty change that Harmony will lose her.” It was hard to choke out the ‘no’ that was on everyone’s lips. Amatsu sighed. He cared little for the two girls who had done nothing but damage to their mother’s in the years that had come. “Someone had better start talking. You may all be adults but I’m not above spanking you all to get a clear answer.”
“Dad, it’s my fault,” Rhapsody finally interjected. Her face was green and her hands trembled.
Tiera threw herself in front of Rhapsody and said, “No, it’s my fault. I was telling Rhapsody of Yuna trying to extort money from our mom and she got all self righteous and all, ‘she can’t do that!’ You know how Rhapsody is, always fighting for…” Tiera trailed off, her story not quite winning over the man who was looking at her with doubt.
“I find it conceivable my daughter would be angry about something like that,” Amatsu sighed. “I find id conceivable that Bliss and Mercedes would not hesitate to drop kick a pregnant woman, though for even them that was pretty harsh, but I find it highly improbably my daughter would start a bar fight because Harmony told her that she needed money.”
“Ashe is the father,” Bliss blurted, unable to hold her tongue.
“I know.”
Rhapsody blinked up at her father, looking frail and fragile, her trusting eyes breaking looking upon the man she idolized. “You… knew?”
“When Ashe found out he asked me what he should do,” Amatsu admitted. “I suggested he suggest to them they get rid of it.” Tiera flushed, still always the vivid memory of her earlier life before playing the good girl. Lilis similarly flushed, but only because she had nearly done the same thing to sweet Lily, something now that made her nearly cry at the thought. “They would not and they wanted money from him. He refused, I paid them, I’ve been the one writing checks. I stopped, however, when I found out that Yuna and Harmony were both doing drugs again. I was not going to support their drug habit.”
Amatsu turned to his daughter and put a loving hand on her shoulder. “Sweetie, I’m sorry I did not tell you, but it was not my place to tell you.” It was the first moment of complete understanding from her father about Ashe. All the years the couple had denied all feelings and pretended in front of their father that there never had been anything was a waste. In that single moment Amatsu knew more than either of them had thought he was capable of. “Do you want to go back home?”
Rhapsody shook her head. “No,” she whispered. “I want to go to the hotel room.”
“Would you like the limo to take you girls there?” Several of the women nodded.
“Amatsu, would you mind taking me to my daughter?” Lilis asked. “I suddenly feel like I want her for the rest of the night.”
Amatsu nodded and watched the women continue on their ways while he drove Lilis back to the mansion where the babies were being kept. Mercedes at the last moment opted to go with Lilis and dragged Bliss along. Rhapsody and Tiera went back to the hotel and three women went to face the mothers that they had wronged that night.

Darrke slammed the shovel into the ground and answered the incessantly ringing cell phone that he had wished that he had turned on vibrate before he had gone out and decided to bury a body. When he saw the number of his wife highlighted on the phone he knew he had to answer. “Is the party over already?” he asked, his voice full of lighthearted love while his body was heavy with burden.
“Rhapsody was arrested,” was her answering response.
“What do you mean ‘Rhapsody was arrested’?” Darrke exchanged a look with a trembling groom-to-be whose ears perked up at the named of his future bride. Sora looked over at Darrke and the two of them stared at one another as Darrke continued his conversation.
“She’s fine, she’s on her way back to the hotel now, but Harmony and Yuna both might lose their babies.” Lilis went on to tell him a very distorted story of what had taken place. Darrke could only sigh.
“It’s been a horrible night for confessions so far,” Darrke sighed. “Sora found out some things he didn’t want to know as well.” Darrke stared at the fresh dirt he had just buried over a body and wondered how best to fool the CSI of whatever city would find it and not be caught.
“Well, I was hoping there could be a few more.”
“No.”
“But…”
“Lilis, tonight is not the night to confess all of our lies,” Darrke snapped into the phone, harsher than he meant to be with his wife. He calmed, knowing her face was contorting into a sob on the other end. “Are you sure you want to do this?” Because I don’t, but he did not hurt her by telling her those words.
“Yes,” she said softly. “I want everyone to know who the father of my baby is.”
“All right, I’ll meet you at the Inperiaru household then and we can just do this group effort of confessing horrible things.”
“What?”
“See you soon my love.”
