The cell phone’s chime had run through once already and both Amy and Lauren had been too stunned to even do anything. Amy’s expression kept switching between surprise and elation but Lauren couldn’t contain her bright, wide grin. JoBeth was calling her and right now, she thought that was the best thing that could possibly happen to Amy.

“Well?” the dark-haired girl asked, arching an insistent eyebrow at Amy. “Come on, answer it! You’re going to do fine!” she added, encouragingly. Lauren knew that her excitement was evident in her voice alone and there was no way that she was going to let Amy run off anywhere without her. Leaning back against the side of Amy’s desk, she wanted to see where this was going.

“I know, I know,” Amy said, waving her arm lazily in Lauren’s direction. Clearing her throat before taking a slow, deep breath, Amy tried to gather herself and fend off the flustered, giddy babble that she was afraid would spill out the moment she answered the phone.

With a small smile, Amy felt glad that Lauren was there with her still. Her unwavering and enthusiastic support had been such a huge help already and if there was ever going to be a time that she needed it most, this was it. Pressing the ‘answer’ button on her phone, Amy directed the call to speakerphone and hoped that Lauren would settle for that. With momentary visions of Lauren snatching the phone away and blurting out to JoBeth all about how she felt about her, Amy decided that it was high time and finally safe to tell JoBeth what she was really feeling.

“Hello?” Amy asked, smirking at such a simple, default greeting for the phone call that she’d been wishing would come for weeks.

Hearing the blonde’s calm voice on the other end of the line was somewhat soothing and reassuring to JoBeth, but it did nothing to slow down her pounding heart. “H-hey Amy,” JoBeth started, trying not to sound nearly as nervous as she felt. “It’s me.”

“It’s me?” Tara whispered though a quiet laugh. JoBeth was usually so confident with herself; seeing her so flustered about a girl that she liked was simply too adorable.

Swatting over at the teasing redhead, JoBeth flashed a mock dirty look at Tara. “Oh, shut up!” she replied through an exasperated whisper of her own.

“Hey JoBeth,” Amy said, a glowing smile bubbling up from deep inside her. The freshman sounded just as nervous as she was and knowing that her crush was feeling the same way as she was helped some of her own nervous energy dissipate. “How are you?”

JoBeth could hear the smile in Amy’s voice. The warmth that she always felt from Amy washed over her, wrapping back around her like a familiar, comfortable blanket once more. “I’m good,” she answered, hoping that she wouldn’t just degenerate into a giggling blob too quickly. “I’m just hanging out here in my dorm…”

“Keeping warm, I hope?” Amy asked, remembering how drafty some of those rooms could be from her own time in school. The moment the words had come out, Amy mentally chastised herself for making such silly small talk, even though she really did hope JoBeth wasn’t too cold. She couldn’t help caring about the girl’s well-being and she certainly didn’t want JoBeth getting sick needlessly, with or without her crush.

A wide grin spread across Tara’s face and she leaned back, extending her arms out behind her. The brunette had been blushing bright red from time to time ever since they’d left class that morning and Tara knew exactly what JoBeth was imagining that was making her all bashful and giddy. “Yeah, thinking about all the stuff you want her to do to you!” she teased, shooting JoBeth an impish smirk but staying quiet enough that Amy wouldn’t hear her.

“Tara!” JoBeth exclaimed in a whisper, taking another, faster swat at her roommate with one of the pillows. As much as the comment made her want to laugh, the girl had caught her red-faced several times in the last few hours and she couldn’t exactly deny the playful allegation.

Turning quickly back to her phone, JoBeth gave Tara a quick warning glance that she’d better keep quiet. “Yeah, I’m keeping warm enough…” she said, desperately trying to stifle a laugh and hoping that Amy wasn’t wondering what had taken so long to respond.

Not paying any particular mind about the rustling on the other end of the line, Amy trusted that JoBeth was calling her from somewhere she felt comfortable talking. “Good,” she said. “That’s what I like to hear.”

“Aww,” Lauren cooed, leaning down close to Amy’s ear. “You were hoping you could warm her up, weren’t you?” she asked with a smirking chuckle. With a scoff and a quick shush for her, Amy pushed her back away, shaking her head at her friend.

“How about you? I didn’t call at a bad time, did I?” JoBeth asked, her curiosity about Amy getting the better of her. In their few casual conversations, Amy had asked plenty of questions about her but she’d learned comparatively little about what Amy did outside of school. She’d thought of so many questions that she wanted to ask her, like where she lived, what she liked to do, what her hobbies were and JoBeth hoped that she’d have a chance to find answers to all of the questions she had about the blonde in time.

For now, she was happy to settle for simpler questions that she hoped would lead to something much more, if Amy was interested. “I didn’t want to interrupt anything if you’re still at school or something…” JoBeth continued barely a moment later, her nerves once more getting the best of her.

“No, no, it’s alright,” Amy said quickly, hearing the waver in JoBeth’s voice and wanting to prevent JoBeth from succumbing to the same jitters that she was trying to stave off herself. “I’m home now and you picked a perfectly fine time, Jo…” she added, her smile returning.

JoBeth felt a thrilling rush every time that Amy smiled at her and even over the phone, she felt that same warmth and affection coming from Amy’s tone. “Ah, okay…” she said, her cheeks heating up with a new blush. “Good.”

Cocking her head to the side, Tara was glad to hear that JoBeth had picked a good time. The subject was going to be difficult enough to broach and she was afraid that it would have been hard to get JoBeth to muster up enough courage twice in the same night. “She so likes you…” Tara chuckled quietly, but JoBeth was too distracted gazing off into space fondly.

“So how are you?” JoBeth asked, wincing at the frivolous question.

“I’m good, Jo, I’m really good…” Amy trailed off into a small laugh. “But maybe a little curious though…” she added, taking an opportunity to tease the other girl a little.

Her brow rose and JoBeth gave the phone’s display a puzzled look for a second. “Curious?”

“Yup…” Amy confirmed, keeping her tone light and cheerful. JoBeth had responded to her playfulness well in the past but considering the question she hoped that the phone call might let her ask, the last thing she wanted to do was scare the girl off. “Just wondering why my favorite student is calling, of course…”

Giggling quietly, JoBeth felt the weight lift back off her shoulders in relief. “Oh…” she said shyly. “Yeah, that’s a pretty reasonable question, huh?”

“I didn’t think it was too much of a stretch,” Amy said with a chuckle. “But that said, I did give you my phone number, didn’t I?” Amy asked, wishing that she was there so she could reach out and caress the flustered freshman’s cheek.

With a nod that she knew Amy couldn’t see, JoBeth hadn’t forgotten their few stolen moments together on the lecture hall’s desk that morning when Amy had wrapped her arm gently around her shoulders and how wonderful it had felt. “Yeah, you might have…” she said, feeling a bit more relaxed as she basked in the remembered warmth of Amy’s touch. “It gave me a reason to call you…”

“I might have hoped it did…” Amy continued, the exhilarating feeling of JoBeth cuddling into her side still echoing through her mind and body. “You don’t hear me complaining, do you?”

Her excitement for JoBeth nearly getting the best of her, Tara twisted to lie down on her side. Letting her feet dangle off the edge of her bed, she lit up lit with a beaming grin of her own at her friend. “Yeah, you two are so in love…” she sighed.

Hushing Tara again, JoBeth shared the redhead’s smile. Laughing softy to herself, she enjoyed the sense of relief that had come with Amy’s comment. “That’s true,” she said happily. “I don’t hear any complaints…”

“Between you and me, I think any complaints would be very few and far between, Jo,” Amy said, her tone soft and caring. “…if there are ever any at all.”

Clapping her hand lightly on Amy’s shoulder, Lauren gave her an amused smile. “Smooth there, Aims…” she whispered, but Amy was still gazing dreamily at the phone in her hands.

“Actually, I’m glad you called…” the blonde continued, trailing off in hopes that JoBeth might want to follow her lead.

A tingling chill washed over her body and JoBeth had to pause a moment to make sure that she wouldn’t just squeak in response. “You are?” she asked, the light of hope that had ignited inside her starting to burn brighter.

Wishing that she was able to take the girl’s hand in hers, a fond smile curled across Amy’s lips. “Yeah,” she said sweetly. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

Her nerves giving way to genuine excitement, JoBeth let out a small giggle. “Heh, I don’t know…” she trailed off. “I was afraid you might’ve been busy or something…”

Lauren let out an affectionate coo at JoBeth’s statement. Nearly everything she’d heard and seen from the girl had been adorable and the phone call wasn’t any different. There was no denying that there was something special about this girl. It was painfully obvious that they both liked each other a lot and it had been far too long since she’d seen Amy have someone in her life that could make her look nearly this happy. They seemed to be on the right track to finding their way together themselves but if they needed a push, Lauren had no intention of letting their right moment slip by.

Rocking back into her chair, Amy’s distant smile made it obvious that she was thinking about JoBeth. “No, not busy at the moment,” Amy said. Even if she had been busy, she’d long since decided that she’d drop whatever needed dropping when it came to one certain student of hers. “I was actually just thinking about you…” she admitted, trailing off into another bright blush, glancing over at the picture JoBeth had given her back and the wonderful note on the back.

“Jo!!” Tara said in a hushed exclamation. Reaching out to pat the side of JoBeth’s leg encouragingly, she’d never felt happier for her friend. Amy was confirming JoBeth’s wildest hopes at every turn and barring some form of catastrophe, there was no way that this night wouldn’t end some kind of wonderfully.

“You were?” JoBeth laughed, hiding her face behind her hand for a moment in embarrassment. “Oh jeez…”

The sound coming over their phone line was the single most wonderful thing Amy had heard in weeks and it sent Amy into a laugh of her own. “What?” she asked, hoping that her thinking about her wasn’t anything that JoBeth would worry about.

“Uhhm…” JoBeth started, her nervousness suddenly rekindled. She could feel her blush spreading all the way to her ears and all she could think about was the picture she’d slipped between the pages of the draft that she’d asked Amy to read a few hours before. “Can I ask what you were thinking about me…?” she asked a moment later, torn between a giddy embarrassment and hope that that’d been right about Amy liking her little unexpected present.

Behind an amused chuckle, Amy felt JoBeth making her fall for her more with everything she said. In her entire life, no one had ever made her feel quite like this. “Well,” Amy started, figuring that there was nothing wrong with admitting the truth. After all, JoBeth had expressly given it to her. “I was reading though your essay a few minutes ago…”

Stifling another nervous squeak, JoBeth felt the increasingly familiar and comfortable warmth inside of her start to heat up in ways that only Amy was able to cause. “Aah…” she giggled. “That’s definitely an ‘oh geez’ there…”

Laughing, Lauren stood up off the corner of the desk. “Aww…” she cooed, heading quickly towards the kitchen to grab another chair for herself and a fresh glass of water. “You’ve got the poor girl all flustered now,” she added, trying to move quickly in hopes that she didn’t miss out on anything now that the conversation was starting to get interesting.

Tara was giving her a look that let JoBeth know that she was just as curious about what Amy thought of the gift as JoBeth was herself, but that wasn’t about to help her calm down. Her heart was racing in what almost felt like fear about what Amy would say but JoBeth refused to give in, focusing on the affection that had accompanied Amy’s every touch and everything that had happened that told her there was no way Amy hadn’t loved it.

Breaking the short but not uncomfortable moment of silence that had floated between them, JoBeth pressed forward. “Can I…” she started, not quite sure how to ask the question. “What did you think of it..?” JoBeth finally managed to get out, sounding more than a little tentative and unsure.

“Well, I liked the new arguments you were using in the first part of your paper a lot…” Amy started, a mischievous sparkle in her eye. She knew full well what JoBeth was asking about but teasing the girl, if only for a moment, was just too much fun. After all, JoBeth had been teasing her quite a bit all week and Amy was more than happy to be able to play the girl’s game in return. “It looked like you really used some of the stuff we were talking about on Monday well!”

Letting out a small sigh of relief that Amy hadn’t immediately reprimanded her about the pictures, JoBeth still didn’t have the answer that she was hoping for. Amy had certainly done her fair share of teasing on Friday night, but this was driving her crazy in a different but strangely exciting way. “Heh, yeah…” she said though a laugh, very glad that Amy had approved of her schoolwork at least. “I’d had a few ideas about that after class on Tuesday, so I tried to get them in there…”

When she’d told Amy about her lack of confidence in her writing while they’d been talking in the library on Monday, Amy had cut her off with a curt dismissal of what she called ‘nonsense’ and given her more encouragement than she’d ever had from a teacher. Her last few English classes in high school had pretty well shattered her confidence thanks to a series of rotten teachers and when Amy had told her how much she’d enjoyed her draft and previous papers, the sense of absolute honesty in her crush’s words had filled her with confidence and a drive to outdo whatever expectations Amy had for her.

She wanted to show Amy what she was capable of and prove that she was worthy of Amy’s praise, pride and interest. It filled her with an exhilarating glow to know that Amy believed in her, despite the relatively short time they’d known each other. Even if nothing else ever happened between them, JoBeth was thankful that Amy had given her that kind of confidence in herself.

Having just returned from the kitchen, Lauren pulled up her new chair next to Amy and nudged JoBeth’s note back across the desk towards Amy insistently. Talking was all well and good and Lauren couldn’t deny that the two girls were adorable talking to each other, but she felt that talking over the phone was too impersonal. As far as she was concerned, if Amy & JoBeth were really going to talk about what they really wanted to, they’d need to find a way to talk in person.

“I thought it looked great, Jo,” Amy said, her smile shining though her voice. “You supported your arguments wonderfully in what I read…” she trailed off, taking a moment to gather her resolve and glancing over at JoBeth’s note once more. Deciding to just roll with the delightful tingle that had started coursing through her, she continued. “And then I got to page five here…”

“Heh…” JoBeth laughed, half out of excitement and half out of worry over Amy’s response to something that direct. She’d given Amy the picture and note and she had no intention of going back from this point. “Well, since that draft was just for you…” she trailed off, emphasizing the last word slightly. “I thought I’d add in something a little more personal. For you...”

An amused smirk spread across Lauren’s features and the dark-haired girl nodded approvingly. “She certainly did,” she said, glancing over at the item in question.

“Yeah, I noticed that,” Amy said with a chuckle, picking the note back up and flipping it over. Gazing at the adorable sight of JoBeth, Amy had remembered the night both fondly and very often in the days since.

The photo itself made Amy feel a decidedly naughty kind of excitement that she hadn’t felt in a long while and it was one that JoBeth’s passive teasing seemed to naturally incite in her. The momentary cuddle they’d shared that morning had only made it worse and she wanted more than anything to wrap the brunette up in a joyful hug as soon as humanly possible. After that, all bets would be off.

Snapping back out of her momentary reverie, Amy tried to ignore the pleasant haze that was taking hold of her. “I thought it was really…” she continued, hoping she wasn’t about to say something that might scare JoBeth off. “…really cute.”

A wave of relief washed over JoBeth and she let out a breath that she wasn’t aware she was holding. “You did?” she asked with a faint hint of disbelief.

“Definitely!” Amy laughed. There was no way that she wouldn’t have loved receiving something so personal to remind her of the first truly intimate experience that they’d shared together. “It might have caught me a little by surprise and all, but I thought it was adorable, Jo…” she trailed off, losing the battle against a wide smile and a brilliant sense of exhilaration.

The fact that JoBeth was that open and accepting of her, including her decidedly kinky side, was thrilling. The trust there between them already felt deeper than the relationships she’d had in the past and it was something different from the bond she had with her best friend. Patting Lauren on the leg, she was met with a smile and an encouraging nod in return. Truthfully, she didn’t know what words she could use to express to JoBeth what the unexpected present had meant to her, but she hoped that JoBeth wasn’t going to question her too far.

JoBeth’s grin had spread from ear to ear the moment that Amy had said the word ‘cute’ in reference to her. She’d been confident that Amy was attracted to her but to hear Amy say it out loud was another thing entirely. “I thought you should have it,” she explained, trying to contain a giggle. “Considering you’re the photographer and all, I’m… I’m glad you like it…”

“You’re turned on is more like it,” Tara whispered from behind an impish smirk, earning herself another playful swat from the pillow. Shielding herself with her arm, she could see that JoBeth was positively glowing. She could already tell that the two girls that were meant for each other and tonight would be their night if she had to figure out how to tie JoBeth up herself and deliver her to Amy. Laughing quietly to herself, she imagined that neither girl would particularly mind that.

Her blush still bright red, JoBeth was already wrapped back up in thoughts of her blonde crush. The fact that the phone was between them was making it hard to be sure of what Amy was thinking. “And… you read my note there?” she asked tentatively, hoping that she wasn’t pushing too hard or being too obnoxious.

“A few times now…” Amy confessed, her amusement coming through clearly in her voice.

An elated giggle escaped her lips and JoBeth collapsed back onto Tara’s other pillows. “A few times, already?” she asked, feeling like she was floating on air.

Something was different today and Amy had yet to feel afraid to say what she was really thinking. It felt right to simply go ahead and say what was on her mind. “Well, honestly…” she started, biting her lower lip bashfully.

“Go on!” Lauren said cheerfully, giving Amy an encouraging nod.

Shaking her head in disbelief that she was actually going to go through with it, Amy took a quick breath and dove in. “It’s an adorable picture of the cutest model I’ve ever had, Jo,” she said with a happy chuckle. “I love it.”

JoBeth felt like her heart skipped a beat and at the other end of the bed, Tara’s smile lit up brighter than Broadway. “Y-you did?” JoBeth asked, barely even able to think beyond the fact that Amy had just used the word ‘love’ in reference to her. Part of her wanted to be on her way over to Amy’s already, if only she knew where the blonde lived.

“Yeah…” Amy said, no longer able to fight back a beaming grin. JoBeth sounded so happy on the other end of the line and that was enough to make her feel comfortable with being honest at this point. “I think it’s… that you… are one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen…” she elaborated. “No matter if you’re a little covered up…” she trailed off, taking another long look at the sight of JoBeth in the picture. “…or otherwise…”

Even if it was over a phone line, Lauren was ecstatic that Amy had finally come out and even alluded to JoBeth that directly about how she felt. Standing up, she wrapped Amy in a loose, silent embrace, rocking her back and forth playfully. “Aims!” she whispered happily in the blonde’s ear before they both shared a quiet, giddy laugh.

Not entirely sure that everything was real and not just some fantasy, JoBeth was filled with an elated disbelief that this particular dream stood a chance of coming true. She felt Amy’s warmth and affection wrapping around her even stronger than it had the first night they’d shared together. It was a feeling she hoped would never go away.

“You really think so?” JoBeth asked, watching Tara crawl across the bed towards her with an excited look on her face.

“Cutest?” the redhead squeaked, quiet enough to not to be heard over the phone. JoBeth flashed a huge grin in reply and Tara gave JoBeth’s free hand a quick squeeze.

Letting out a happy sigh, Amy’s smile was brighter than ever. “Yup,” she chuckled, tucking a few strands of hair that had fallen loose back behind her ear. “Very cute. And I’m still looking you now…”

A blushing grin spread across JoBeth’s lips and any embarrassment that she would have felt about being seen tied up like that was completely absent. It was something that she would never have considered more than a week ago but right now, so far as she was concerned, Amy was allowed to see her like that. So long as it was Amy tying her up, there was something strangely fun and exciting about it and she was perfectly fine with her looking at those pictures of her.

With a bashful laugh, JoBeth shifted a little in place, starting to feel a sort of heat that made her wish Amy was there with her right now. “I picked my favorite from the ones you gave me…” she said, still grinning from ear to ear. “I was hoping you wouldn’t mind seeing it again…”

Lauren’s eyes widened a little in pleasant surprise at JoBeth’s comment. “Yeah, she liked it, Aims,” she chuckled, taking the picture from Amy for a closer look at it. “Not a doubt.”

“Are you kidding?” Amy asked, remembering what it felt like to be there and hold JoBeth that night. “Of course I wouldn’t mind! You have no idea how beautiful you looked that night…” she admitted with a small laugh, finally giving voice to what she’d been thinking all week.

Her excitement over the call and for JoBeth hadn’t faded a bit and Tara squeezed her roommate’s hand again. “I told you she likes you!” she said, getting an affectionate squeeze back from JoBeth in return.

That night a week ago had been pretty memorable for more than one reason and even more once she’d realized who her mysterious ‘blonde doctor’ really was. “Thanks…” JoBeth started, feeling the heat of her blush on her cheeks. “But you know, that night… I couldn’t stop staring at your eyes…”

A particularly pleasant shiver ran up Amy’s spine at the statement. “Really?” Amy asked through a small laugh, getting a gentle, knowing nudge from Lauren. “Heh, I guess they were about the only part of me you could see, huh?”

“Yeah, but that’s not the reason…” the brunette laughed. “I know you’ve seen me in class a few times… I can’t help it,” she explained, biting her lower lip before she started babbling. “I think your eyes are beautiful…”

“Aww, Jo…” Amy sighed, the blush on her cheeks turning another shade of crimson. She was sure that JoBeth was exaggerating but to hear the girl she had a crush on tell her that any bit of her was beautiful was still a wonderful thing to hear. “Thank you.”

“I’m serious, Amy,” JoBeth continued, hoping that the blonde believed her. “I could stare at them for hours…” she said, causing Tara to grin mischievously. Matching the expression herself, JoBeth knew that the redhead had caught her enough times to know how true that was.

Lauren smiled warmly at Amy, patting her shoulder affectionately. She hadn’t seen the blonde glowing like this in years. “Dang…” she sighed, chuckling at Amy’s blushing grin.

“Hours, huh?” Amy asked. Even over the phone, Amy felt a thrill just from hearing JoBeth say something like that. There were few better places that she could imagine spending a few hours than somewhere in JoBeth’s company.

“Oh, easily…” JoBeth said, happy to confirm the fact with a laugh.

Nodding insistently, Tara shook her roommate’s hand a little. “Ask her!” she whispered, stealing JoBeth’s attention for a moment. “Ask her over!”

“I don’t think I’d mind that…” Amy said, chuckling quietly.

Setting her drink down on the desk, Lauren tried to stifle a laugh. “Darn right you wouldn’t!” she said as Amy continued.

“Especially considering you’ve got some nice ones yourself, there,” Amy said, a playful smirk crossing her lips as she thought back to the first of the many times that she’d been mesmerized by JoBeth’s beautiful green eyes. “And that’s just the start of it…”

JoBeth giggled a little at Amy’s compliment, her elation taking complete control for a moment. “Aww…” she cooed, not sure if a thank you would be enough or if she should ask what Amy meant by that ‘just being the start of that.’ Amy had just said that she thought she was beautiful and JoBeth’s hope that their attraction was mutual seemed like a certainty.

The pause after her reply lasted a few seconds but judging by JoBeth’s giggle, Amy wasn’t worried about it. She hoped that what she’d said had made the brunette just as giddy as she was feeling herself. “Everything alright over there, Jo?” she asked, not wanting the conversation to end too soon.

“Yeah,” JoBeth replied, still partially distracted by her soaring excitement. Amy liked her and there was nothing in the world that could convince her otherwise. All the rules and perception that stood in their way could be damned; she wanted to be with Amy and she was going to find a way to make sure that was how things were going to be. “I was just thinking…”

“That’s perfectly allowed,” Amy said, laughing a little. She knew JoBeth had a brain to match how cute she was and Amy didn’t need to look any further for proof than the draft that was still sitting open before her. Unlike a few of the girls she’d liked in the past, Amy didn’t see herself getting bored being able to talk to a girl that could hold her own intellectually if she wanted to. Amy just wanted to try and build JoBeth up to have more confidence in what she was doing and banish the self-doubt that had been tempering her work.

That aside, Amy couldn’t help wondering exactly why JoBeth had called her. She had her hopes about the reason but there was something to be said for not assuming anything. “I have to admit, though…” Amy continued a moment later. “I’m a little curious…”

Her eyebrow arched up slightly and JoBeth finally managed to reel in her giddiness enough to get back to talking to Amy. “Oh?” she asked. “You are?”

“A little,” Amy chuckled, not wanting to worry JoBeth too much. “Not that I mind it at all, but I was wondering why you called…”

After a nervous laugh, JoBeth took a calming breath. Using the moment to gather up her resolve, she looked over for a little extra encouragement from the still-smiling Tara. “That’s a pretty reasonable question,” JoBeth said, sitting back up on the bed again. “I did have a reason…”

Nodding, Amy couldn’t help but chuckle at how flustered she’d made JoBeth. It still felt good to know that the girl was going through the same tentative feelings that she was about all this. “Well, there’s no rush, Jo. I don’t mind talking to you…”

Tara gave JoBeth another suggestive nudge. Both girls had been pretty forward with each other in the last few minutes and Tara didn’t think that there would be any better time to finally come out with it. “Tell her,” she said softly, seeing no reason for her roommate to hesitate.

With a small smirk, JoBeth was already way ahead of Tara. “I like talking to you too, Amy, and…” she paused, biting her lip bashfully for a second before continuing. “That’s kind of why I called…”

Lauren looked almost as excited as she felt herself and Amy could barely stand the anticipation that had been building over the last few minutes, let alone over the course of the week. Her heart was racing again and she could barely get out a response. “Oh?” she asked, thankful that her voice hadn’t betrayed just how anxious she was.

“Yeah,” JoBeth said, trying to find the right words to ask Amy the question that had been on her mind since Monday night. She knew that Amy would be open to the idea but that wasn’t doing anything to help her relax. She was just going to have to press on and hope that Amy would think that it was just cute if she ended up sounding like a moron. “I was hoping to ask you if…” she trailed off, shifting a little in place on the bed.

“If?” Amy said, asking the question that was both on her mind and Lauren’s, judging by her friend’s anticipatory grin.

If something was going to happen between them, it was going to happen tonight and JoBeth didn’t want it any other way. A huge grin broke across her features and JoBeth rode the rush of excitement to finally broach the subject that had been hanging in the air between them for days. “I was wondering if you were busy tonight,” the brunette asked, prompting Tara to pounce at her and wrap her up in a hug.

“Ah…” Amy said, barely managing to get that much out through the momentary shock. JoBeth had asked her the question she’d wanted to for weeks now and suddenly, quite a few of her daydreams had come true. “I, uh… I didn’t have any plans, no…” she finally said, just as Lauren attacked her with a giggle and wrapped her up in a joyful embrace of her own.

The freshman girls shared a relieved laugh and JoBeth could breathe a little easier knowing that she hadn’t picked a bad night. Secretly, she’d hoped that Amy would consider hanging out with her over anything else she might have been up to, but that wasn’t anything she’d have to worry about now.

“Thank God…” JoBeth sighed, not wanting to think about how embarrassed she could have felt if Amy had turned her down.

Chuckling a little, Amy adored that JoBeth was apparently just as nervous about the whole thing as she was herself. It helped her feel a lot better knowing that they really were on the same page about their attraction and interest in each other.

More than anything, JoBeth was helping her feel comfortable with being a little more playful and assertive. The girl certainly hadn’t shied away from her when she’d done so in the past and it seemed like the brunette was giving her a green light to be more open with her interest. “Any reason you ask?” Amy asked once Lauren had loosened her grip a little, hoping to lead JoBeth to where she figured that they both wanted it to go.

Tara had settled back to sit a few inches away again and was giving JoBeth an encouraging nod, but with the last self-imposed barrier now removed, JoBeth was happy to keep going. “Well, if you’re not busy, I was wondering if you might want to hang out later..?” she asked, trailing off into a smile.

“Oh?” Amy said, momentarily overtaken by a moment of giddiness.

“Yeah…” JoBeth said, grinning brightly and trying not to devolve into a fit of giggles. “If you’re not busy, I mean…”

Laughing a little, Amy wasn’t about to play coy at this point. “I’m not busy,” she said with a joyfully wincing smile as Lauren ruffled her hair affectionately. “I’d be happy to.”

Hearing Amy say the words sent another wonderfully exciting chill down her spine and JoBeth could only manage a reflex response. “You would?” JoBeth asked, still trying to shake off her faint sense of disbelief that this was really happening.

“Why wouldn’t I?” Amy asked in response, her happiness and a laugh reflecting in her tone. Riding a wave of elation as it washed over her, Amy couldn’t imagine a better way to spend that particular evening. “Did you have something in mind?”

The wide grin that had taken hold wasn’t going anywhere and JoBeth let out a quiet chuckle. “Honestly? I was so worried about asking that I didn’t think that far ahead,” she admitted, a little embarrassed that she hadn’t come up with any more specific details. She’d worked out a basic idea with Tara for the where and the how but nothing in particular beyond that.

The affection Amy felt for JoBeth was growing stronger at every turn and so far as Amy was concerned, there really was something special about the freshman girl. “I’m still glad you asked, Jo…” she said, hoping that JoBeth didn’t think she was disappointed that there wasn’t some intricate plan in place. “Really glad. And I’m pretty much up for whatever…” she continued, smiling and trying to remember if any movies were showing that she’d wanted to see and running through a mental checklist of out-of-the-way places they might be able to go for a late bite or coffee afterwards.

“I was thinking that, uh…” JoBeth started, trying to figure out how they could address the one major issue that had been stopped them from doing anything already. “Well, it’d be kind of easy for someone to get the wrong idea about a student hanging out with a teacher somewhere,” she explained, trailing off and sighing pensively.

“That is a pretty good point there,” Amy said, conceding the fact without any hesitation.

“I thought so too…” JoBeth chuckled as Tara rested her hand on JoBeth’s knee, offering a reassuring smile. The two of them had spent at least two hours over the last few nights covering this exact issue and Tara had been wonderfully supportive and even helpful about the best idea they’d had yet for what they could do tonight. “I was figuring that it might be best if we hung out somewhere that was a little more private..?” she suggested.

JoBeth had nailed the issue that had been concerning her right on the head and the fact that she’d been just as conscious of it as she had herself made Amy feel warm and fuzzy in all the right ways. That JoBeth was so considerate on her own and knowing that JoBeth was thinking of her made Amy happier than she could describe without wrapping the brunette up in a hug. “I don’t see why not…” she answered, wrapping herself in the warm glow that thoughts of being with JoBeth alone created.

She didn’t want to push Amy towards any one thing in particular, but JoBeth had tried to come up with something that was keeping their best mutual interests in mind. “I just didn’t want you in trouble at all,” she stared, talking in hopes that she’d be able to get out what she wanted to say before her nerves could get in the way. “And since I’ve got a single here in the dorms, I was thinking that maybe you could come over here…” JoBeth said, her blush a deep shade of crimson and spreading from ear to ear once more. “If you wanted to…”

“Just say yes!” Lauren exclaimed, jostling Amy playfully but still staying quiet enough that she wouldn’t be heard over the phone.

Sharing in Lauren’s burst of happiness, Amy let a delightful mix of shock and exhilaration overtake her. JoBeth had just invited her over to her room to hang out. “Really?” she asked, letting a little of her excitement slip into her tone despite not being completely sure if she’d heard JoBeth right or if she’d just heard what she wanted to hear.

“Really,” JoBeth echoed, laughing joyfully to herself. That her request was enough to make the always-confident Amy pause for a moment gave JoBeth a small thrill. Knowing that she had that kind of effect on Amy already was an exciting prospect. “I thought we could just relax and talk or watch a movie here or something…” she elaborated, feeling the heat of her blush while she tried coming up with a few other entertainment options.

“Nice,” Tara said, fixing JoBeth with a knowing smirk the moment she stopped talking that made her blush deepen. Even though her ideas for what they could do sounded so innocent, she knew that JoBeth couldn’t deny that they were only covers for her real desire to spend the entire night making out with Amy before possibly moving on to a few other slightly naughtier things.

Taking the momentary pause in the conversation to gather her wits back about her, Amy tried to keep her mind from spinning at the fact that JoBeth wanted her to come over. It was something that she’d been dreaming about for weeks that had just come true.

“Only if you don’t mind,” Amy replied, giving way to a bashful giggle of her own.

“Are you kidding?” JoBeth asked instantly, her playful incredulity readily apparent. “I’d love to have you over!” she exclaimed, not even bothering to care if that sounded a little too excited. “I mean, if you don’t mind sitting around in some lame dorm room…” she trailed off, wincing a little at the notion of asking the girl she liked to come over to a place that wouldn’t exactly blow her mind due to coolness.

Dispelling the brunette’s moment of worry with an amused chuckle, Amy heard an audible sigh of relief over the phone. “Somehow, I can’t imagine your room being lame, Jo…” she said, meeting Lauren’s encouraging nod with a wide smile in return.

Being somewhere that JoBeth would feel safe and secure would hopefully let them both feel more at ease spending what could easily turn into a particularly intimate night. JoBeth was inviting her over, and knowing that she wanted her there in her place made Amy feel a lot more comfortable throwing all those other worries that had been stopping her aside to just be with the girl that she liked and that liked her back.

“And I couldn’t think of a better place…” Amy added, very much liking the idea of going over to JoBeth’s to spend their first real time alone together. A joyful spark twinkled in her eyes and Amy couldn’t help but smile. “If you’re up for it, I’d love to come over later…”

Tara let out an elated squeak, tackling JoBeth back down to the pillows in a hug. “Of course I’m up for it,” JoBeth replied, letting herself go limp and laughing along with her gleeful companion.

The sound of JoBeth’s laughter was the single most wonderful sound she’d heard all day and with a bright, beaming smile, Amy knew how she’d be spending her evening. “Then it’s settled,” she said, glowing with excitement.

“Yep,” JoBeth confirmed, letting the warm haze of anticipation and relief that they were finally going to be alone together settle over her.

Taking a deep, luxurious sigh, Amy was content to bask for a moment in the fuzzy, very pleasant feelings and thoughts that were bouncing around in her head. She was really ready to hang up the phone right then and there and start driving over to JoBeth’s but there were a few things that she wanted to take care of before that happened.

The rapidly dimming light outside had sent Lauren sauntering around the room to turn on a few lights and after stealing a glance over at the clock on the far corner of her desk, Amy noticed that it was already half past four. The afternoon was running quickly into the evening and while she thought that it was a little early to get up to no good, Amy didn’t want to wait one second longer than she had to when it came to hanging out with JoBeth.

Watching Lauren pull the last of the blinds closed, a faint longing smile tugged at the corners of Amy’s lips and she turned back to the phone again. “Did you have any time in mind for when I should come over..?” Amy asked, sinking back into the reclining desk chair.

“Now!” Tara said, flashing an eager and insistent smile after letting JoBeth back up of the pillows. “She should come over now!”

The exclamations earned Tara another playful swat from the pillow and while JoBeth wanted Amy over five minutes ago just the same as Tara did, there were a few things that she wanted to do before the girl she hoped to impress arrived. Of all the things that she might have been daydreaming about doing tonight while she was in class earlier, Amy coming over that night hadn’t been something her dorm room was entirely prepared for.

They’d still need to find something for dinner and a shower to freshen up sounded like a pretty good idea. JoBeth hoped she could recruit Tara’s help in figuring out what she could wear that Amy might find irresistibly cute and all that would take at least a little while. Poking the menu button on her phone, JoBeth checked the time.

Thinking for a moment, JoBeth gave a short, ponderous ‘hmm.’ It was already getting dark outside, meaning that it wouldn’t be too obvious that Amy was coming into the dorm and it was pretty unlikely that anyone would be looking anyway. She wanted a time that was early enough that they would have plenty of time to talk and relax but one that was late enough that there was a chance that Amy could stay the night.

“Would eight o’clock work?” she asked, finally picking out a time that would let her finish her own preparations and still let them spend a good chunk of the night together.

Her giddy grin hadn’t faded one bit yet and Amy was already making a mental checklist of all things she’d need to do to get ready herself. “That’d be fine,” she said though a chuckle, still not quite sure if she believed that this was really happening. She was going to be alone with JoBeth and JoBeth wanted her alone. The things that Amy wanted to get done before walking through that door seemed doable in four hours and judging by the way that her heart was racing, those hours would fly by.

Thinking back to when they’d been talking in the library’s café on Monday evening, Amy tried to remember which residence hall JoBeth had been telling her about. “You said you’re in Belmont Hall, right?” she asked, fairly confident that she was remembering correctly.

“Yup!” JoBeth answered cheerfully. Part of her was excited by the mere fact that Amy had remembered that particular random piece of information that she’d babbled at her about a few nights ago. “I’m on the top floor of the south wing of Belmont Hall…”

“That’s what I thought,” Amy chuckled, sitting back up in the chair to look for a pen.

Everything was coming together so easily now and JoBeth gave in to another bashful smirk. Amy was going to come over and tonight really was going to happen. “The guest parking lot is on the south end of the building too,” JoBeth said, figuring that Amy would drive over.

Nodding, Amy was glad that while the campus’ parking police were militant about student parking. Her faculty permit meant she could park overnight anywhere on campus without having to worry about a ticket and the lot would have at least a few spots open. “I should be able to park in the staff section there,” Amy said, sharing an almost-laughing grin with Lauren.

“The entrance is right along Lakeshore Drive and it’s pretty well lit,” JoBeth added, familiar with the streetlights that lined the parking lot thanks to a few nights spent watching out the window for a late-night food delivery car to arrive. “It’s in view of the night doorman’s seat and there are usually enough cars there, so you shouldn’t really stand out or anything,” she continued, not wanting Amy to have to worry about something bad happening to her car.

An amused smile spread across Lauren’s features and she couldn’t help but see what Amy saw in this girl. She was thinking about Amy and what her worries might be just as much as Amy was trying to keep the very best for JoBeth in mind. “She’s got all the bases covered, Aims,” Lauren teased, prompting a warm smile out of her best friend.

Amy was familiar with the parking lot that JoBeth was describing; she’d driven past it quite a few times over the years they’d lived around the school. “Sounds simple enough,” Amy said, all of the happiness she’d wrapped herself in thanks to JoBeth reflecting clearly in her tone.

The nervous energy that had been knotted up inside JoBeth at the beginning of the call had melted away into the easy comfort that talking with Amy always brought. Talking to her beautiful blonde teacher’s assistant felt natural and right and that made the fact that they might finally be able to talk about and explore a ‘next level’ together even more enticing.

“They don’t lock the doors until nine,” the brunette said, a dreamy sort of smile drifting over her. “You should be able to come right in the side entrance…” JoBeth trailed off, trying to think if there was anything else that Amy would need to know.

“I think I know the door…” Amy chimed in, thinking back to her undergraduate days and a few friends she’d had from Belmont Hall.

Biting her lip bashfully, JoBeth could already feel her heart racing with anticipation. Just thinking about it was enough to get that warm haze churning inside her again. “You’d just come up those stairs there to the top floor and I’m the first room on your right,” she said, coming to the last piece of information that Amy might need from her. “Room 602.”

Grinning away, Amy wrote the room number down on a small scrap of paper, knowing full well that there wasn’t a chance that she would forget it. “Room 602 it is,” she said, barely containing an excited giggle. Already catching herself taking a curious glance at the clock, Amy couldn’t wait to get over to JoBeth’s. “When I’m there, should I knock?” she asked innocently, wondering if the freshman had anything specific in mind.

A quick idea suddenly leaped to mind and JoBeth’s blush returned in full force. Amy had seemed to love seeing her wear her former ankle cuffs as bracelets on Monday and considering that she wanted to let the blonde know that she really was okay with everything, there was no reason she couldn’t put them to use again tonight.

A tingling rush of excitement ran up her spine and Tara was giving her a look that seemed to wonder what had brought about this particular devilishly adorable grin. “I’ll have my door unlocked at eight,” JoBeth said, trailing off mischievously.

“Careful there, Jo,” Amy laughed, just as a few daydreams she’d had about stumbling in on a somewhat scantily clad and sometimes partially tied JoBeth leaped to the front of her mind. “I wouldn’t want someone sneaking in and grabbing you before I get there…” she trailed off, feeling a lot more comfortable letting her playful side come out to tease JoBeth. Based on what sounded like an interested squeak from her crush, she didn’t think JoBeth minded too much.

The rosy glow on her cheeks turned a deeper shade of red once more and Amy wasn’t sure if she was going to be able to last much until eight. After hearing that cute little squeak out of JoBeth, Amy wanted to pounce on the JoBeth the moment she could close and lock the door behind her and it certainly seemed like JoBeth wouldn’t have a problem with it.

JoBeth was already blushing a bright shade of red and Amy’s insinuations were going to make her need a little bit colder shower. “Well,” she sighed, biting her lower lip for just a moment and deciding she wanted to play along. “I’m okay with you grabbing me, Amy…” she trailed off into a teasing chuckle of her own.

Amy’s blush spread to her ears again and she couldn’t keep down a laugh while Lauren ruffled her hair affectionately. Judging by the smile on her best friend’s lips, she was just as happy as she was to hear JoBeth say that. “Alright then,” Amy started, trying to ignore the insistent warmth that had settled over her. “Eight o’clock it is,” she said, already finding it difficult to resist heading over there straight away. She was ready to knock over anyone that would make her even one second late.

Tara let out a giggle, giving JoBeth a teasing nudge. “You totally want her to take you…” she said slyly, knowing all about what JoBeth had been daydreaming about lately. From what JoBeth had told her about the last few nights, she wouldn’t have offered a single word of real protest if Amy had abducted her after class and taken her back to her apartment for another round of kinky and intimate games.

“Oh, quiet, you…” JoBeth replied though a hushed laugh, taking another lazy swat of the pillow towards Tara. This time, Tara grabbed the pillow and relieved JoBeth of it but the brunette didn’t seem too bothered by it. JoBeth had already turned back to the phone and she was positively glowing with excitement and happiness.

With a smile to match the joy she felt glowing inside, JoBeth wished that Amy was already there with her, but she had a few hours left to find a way to not just tackle the blonde at first sight. She liked Amy and she wasn’t ashamed of it. If Amy was comfortable enough with that to come over and be with her, she saw no reason to hide it. “I can’t wait,” she said to Amy, doing away with any sort of pretense.

“Yeah, you know you’re going to be over there all night, don’t you?” Lauren asked, wearing an unabashedly impish grin.

Shushing Lauren away with an amused huff and few waves of her hand, Amy was aware that her dark-haired roommate had a pretty good point there. While she didn’t exactly want to assume that something was going to happen, she couldn’t deny that it was something she was hoping for. There would be some merit in bringing a few things along just in case she needed them.

An extra set of clothes and her toothbrush seemed prudent and they could be easily tucked away into her messenger bag so that they wouldn’t send JoBeth a wrong signal that she was expecting anything. In case she was reading things completely wrong, there’d be no harm in bringing along a DVD or two as well.

“Should I bring anything with me when I come over?” Amy asked, subconsciously letting just a hint of suggestion sneak into her tone.

“You mean other than your cute self?” JoBeth chuckled, prompting a surprised and laughing scoff from both Tara and Lauren respectively.

Amy’s jaw dropped a little and she let out a plaintive squeak of her own. JoBeth really was interested in her. Suddenly, it seemed like a very good idea indeed to bring a spare set of clothes along with her. The blush was still warming her cheeks and a few other things and Amy caught herself wondering what underwear she could put on that would still look totally normal to have on while hopefully making JoBeth all squirmy in just the right ways, if she saw them.

“I know a few things you should take with…” Lauren teased, a mischievous and very suggestive spark twinkling in her deep brown eyes.

Shaking her head, Amy couldn’t help but laugh at what she knew Lauren was alluding to. “Well, that’s pretty much a given,” she said, putting on a feigned air of pride and teasing JoBeth right back. A few stray thoughts of what she could say to the brunette about how attractive she was danced though her mind, but that could wait until later. “But outside of the two of us, is there anything else you think we’ll need?” Amy asked.

Grinning playfully, Tara gave JoBeth another gentle nudge. “You can always ask her to bring some more toys…” she whispered, a little surprised by how JoBeth responded with a shy smile instead of the laughing scoff that she’d expected.

The smile gave way to a small chuckle and JoBeth was able to reign in a bit of the hazy warmth that was coursing through her. “Just bring over anything you think you might want…” she trailed off, bashfully biting her lip and hoping that Amy caught the hint that she would be fine with Amy spending the night if things lead there.

“Anything, huh?” Amy asked, feeling a wonderful thrill at the rather suggestive tone that had slipped into JoBeth’s voice.

“Anything you want…” JoBeth confirmed, grinning with a mix of anxiousness and hope for what the blonde would take that to mean.

If she was reading JoBeth correctly, Amy didn’t think she’d need a lot beyond a few bathroom supplies and a fresh change of clothes. Her attention flicked back to the clock and she already thought that it wasn’t moving nearly fast enough.

A warm smile spread back across her lips and Amy figured out exactly what lingerie she was going to wear for JoBeth. Considering all their back and forth over the week, she didn’t see any harm in tucking a set of leather cuffs and maybe even a gag in the bottom of her bag, in case JoBeth was feeling both frisky and adventurous. It had certainly been a long time since she’d felt like this, and when it came to JoBeth, Amy didn’t ever want it to stop.

“Anything it is…” Amy purred, sending a shiver of bliss up JoBeth’s spine with the comment. “So I’ll see you at eight, then?” the blonde asked, tucking her hair back behind her ear demurely, closing her eyes for just a moment and imagining that the brunette was there with her.

JoBeth’s cheshire grin and the giddiness she felt were indescribable. She wanted to explore everything about Amy and what they might have together. The spark between them had ignited something that she hadn’t experienced before and it felt light years beyond wonderful. Of all the girls she’d liked in the past, there was something about Amy that was head and shoulders above the rest. JoBeth wanted Amy there now, just to be near her, to be able to talk to her and ask her all the questions she’d been keeping inside all week and an exhilarating and temporarily forbidden thought flickered in the back of her mind that, if she was right, she might have found the one in Amy.

“Yes, Ma’am,” JoBeth said teasingly, remembering how Amy had reacted when she’d said it before. “I’ll be waiting for you…” she finished, feeling exquisitely lightheaded with excitement when she heard the little sigh Amy gave at the words.

That she could have that effect on Amy already was a thrill on its own and Amy was the only girl that she wanted to possess her in that way again. With a small giggle, JoBeth entertained the thought that, if Amy wanted to have her, she’d happily give herself over to the blonde completely. Amy had ‘possessed’ her from the very moment that they’d kissed and the next three and a half hours were not going to pass quickly enough.

JoBeth’s playful response gave her a blissful shiver and Amy couldn’t help but squirm a little in her chair. The warmth inside her that had been toying with her since the phone call began was heating up in ways that she’d been dreaming about all week, thanks to the brunette.

“Okay then,” Amy chuckled, sharing a grin with Lauren, who seemed just as intrigued by JoBeth’s suggestive choice of words as she was herself. “I’ll see you in a few hours,” she said, pausing for a moment before continuing. “And… JoBeth?”

The tingly feeling that JoBeth had been trying to stave off intensified when Amy said her name. The affectionate purr in Amy’s tone made her blush even brighter and she wanted to hear it again. “Yeah, Amy?” she finally asked in response, filled with a nervous curiosity and excitement for what Amy wanted to say.

A bright smile set over the blonde’s soft features and Amy felt like she was positively glowing with adoration for how brave JoBeth had been to be this forward with her. The fact that they both liked each other had been pretty well made clear over the course of the week but to get past all the barriers and silly school rules that technically stood between them had to have taken a lot. Knowing that JoBeth liked her so much that she’d tossed all that aside made Amy feel more special than she’d felt in a very long time.

“I’m really glad you called,” Amy said, causing Lauren to give a cooing sigh and to wrap her in a proud embrace.

Tara was grinning from ear to ear now, clutching her pillow tight to her chest in her own giddy embrace. To say that Amy was being cute here on the phone would be an understatement and from everything that she’d seen, she was an absolute sweetheart about JoBeth. For all the doubts they’d had about whether or not something could ever happen, it looked like her best friend was really going to get a shot with her and Tara couldn’t be happier for JoBeth about it. The ponytailed girl looked like she was positively glowing.

With an adoring and longing sigh, JoBeth let out a giggle. “I am too,” she said, biting her lower lip for a second. “Took us long enough, huh?” she asked, a hint of playful incredulity in her tone.

Amy agreed that it had taken them a lot longer than she would have hoped, but in the last week, they’d managed to find out quite a bit about each other. If things really did go somewhere later tonight and they had to go through it all again, Amy wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Maybe,” the blonde laughed, nodding along with JoBeth’s assertion. “But I think you’re worth the wait…” Amy trailed off into a bashful but affectionate grin.

“You too,” JoBeth said immediately, agreeing with Amy whole-heartedly. So long as there had been a hint or promise that Amy liked her back, she would have waited as long as she needed to for Amy to feel comfortable with expressing the feelings that she knew Amy had for her.

Checking the clock again, Amy knew that the intervening hours would be maddeningly slow but so very worth it. Soon, she would have JoBeth all to herself and considering how well the brunette had reacted to the one earlier, she’d finally be able to wrap the girl up in the embrace that she’d been holding in for days on end. Her smile still dancing across her lips, Amy knew that that would likely be only the beginning.

“I’ll see you soon, Jo…” Amy said, a faint hint of longing telling JoBeth that they were both looking forward to it impatiently.

Another excited giggle rang out over the phone line and JoBeth wished she could reach out and take Amy’s warm, gentle hand in hers. “See you soon, Amy…” she sighed happily, sliding her thumb over to her phone’s red ‘end’ button.

“You know it,” Amy said with a small laugh.

When JoBeth heard the sound come from the other end of the line, she knew that Amy didn’t want their conversation to end either and something about that was reassuring. The good news was that it would only be a temporary end and they would pick everything right back up very, very soon.

“Bye Amy,” JoBeth said simply, a beaming smile for all the promise of the night ahead shining across her features.

Amy’s mind was racing through thoughts of all the promising things that were going to come, just as soon as she could get ready. “Bye, cutie…” Amy replied, waiting just long enough to hear JoBeth’s adorable giggle before reluctantly hitting the ‘end call’ button on her phone and wishing that she could race over to JoBeth right now.
