Thanks for being patient! Things have been tough for me recently and I haven’t been in the mood to write.
If Like Repels Like, Do Opposites Attract?: Chapter 10
xxxxxx
Nothing happened that night, all Chad and Sam did was watch movies on the couch. They hadn’t even really been cuddling, just sitting with their sides pressed against one another, but Sam felt there was a definite change in the atmosphere. It wasn’t the atmosphere of two guys just hanging out, there was something else there, like the air was charged with tension.
A couple days went by and that tension was lingering.
Sam was becoming agitated by all the unspoken feelings hanging in the air. While Alyssa had revealed that Chad had a crush on him, Chad himself had not made any move towards Sam. It was all innocent touches and lingering looks. Sam was getting to the breaking point in his frustration. He wanted to say something, anything to resolve the weird feelings between them.
Maybe it was just him that felt different. Chad was acting like nothing happened, so maybe he didn’t feel like Sam did. He was hard to read sometimes. He was friendly and seemed like he wanted to keep hanging out with Sam, but it didn’t seem like anything more. If Sam wasn’t positive that the previous sex-like events had happened, he would have almost sworn it was a dream.
Sam and Chad were on the couch in Sam’s house watching a movie, Sam rubbing his neck with a sigh. His eyes were closed and he was leaning into his own touch when he felt a much larger hand join in then take over the massage.
“Chad…”
“Hey, you’re so tense.” Chad continued his ministrations, traveling from Sam’s neck to his shoulders as well.
Damn, he was good at that. Those big, strong hands kneading Sam’s back in the perfect way. Sam’s thought of protest vanished from his mind and he surrendered to the touch.
Sam sighed as Chad worked over his back. It was pretty much the best massage Sam had ever had in his life, not that he’s had many massages. He was more relaxed than he’d been in a long time.
“You have a nice back Sam.” As if to emphasize that point, Chad’s hands trailed down the length of Sam’s spine to stop right above his hips before moving up again, then repeating in long smooth strokes.
“Thanks.” Sam wasn’t sure what to say to that. His brain didn’t seem to be connected to his mouth anymore.
Chad’s hands gathered Sam’s hair before running through it. “You’re hair’s really soft.”
Okay, this was definitely way over the friend boundary at this point.
Sam turned his head so he could see Chad’s face. “Chad, what are you doing?”
Chad looked uncomfortable at the question and quickly stood up next to the couch. “Sorry Sam. I didn’t think…” He trailed off, hand behind his neck, looking extremely apologetic.
“Chad…” Sam pulled on Chad’s arm to guide him back down to the couch. “It’s okay. That was nice but what…us?” He didn’t want to sound like a girl and ask what his and Chad’s relationship was, but part of him really wanted to. Luckily Chad seemed to pick up on what he wasn’t asking.
“Sam…I…um let’s go on a date?”
“What?”
Chad looked hesitant. “Um, if you want to.”
“Yeah,” Sam found himself smiling and really meaning his answer.
“Oh,” Chad grinned, his entire face lighting up. “Dinner? Tomorrow night?”
“Sounds good,” Sam smiled up at Chad.
Chad’s eyes were twinkling and he looked so handsome and happy in that moment, it made Sam glad that they were deciding to do this. It was pretty obvious that events were leading to this result, but Sam found himself surprisingly excited. He was glad that they were moving forward.
Sam had been coming to the realization that he could see himself dating Chad and was finding himself wanting to date Chad.
After his conversation with Alyssa and in the past few days he’d been examining his feelings. He’d already came to terms with his physical attraction to Chad, that he liked his large body and could see himself wrapped around him, and was now coming to terms that he liked the person inside that body.
And cuddled against each other on the couch watching movies with Chad’s hand running over his arm was rapidly becoming something he was hoping would become part of his routine.

The next day, Sam felt energized and elated. He was more excited than he expected to be for the upcoming date. It was one of those days that went by as a blur, his focus not taking in his classes or most of the people around him.
Alyssa noticed and picked on him about fantasizing in class.
She also warned him off against hurting her best friend. She said it jokingly, but Sam knew she was serious. He knew how much she cared about Chad and she confirmed that if Sam was a dick, she would crush him. Sam hoped that wouldn’t be the result.
Sam was staring at himself in the mirror, hoping he wouldn’t screw up his first date, when his mom knocked on his bedroom door.
“Hey sweetie, Chad’s downstairs waiting for you.” She had a smile on her face. “You look very handsome tonight.” Her eyes were twinkling with a knowing expression.
“Thanks mom.”
She pulled him into a hug. “I know you’ll have a good time. Chad’s such a nice boy.”
“Mom…”
“Sam, don’t even try to deny it this time. You boys are clearly going on a date tonight.”
“Oh don’t tell me he brought flowers,” Sam muttered.
His mom chuckled. “No Sam, he did not bring flowers. But he’s acting like a nervous boy before a date and so are you. I have seen the signs before.”
“Please don’t start with the ‘I was young once’ speech.”
“I won’t this once,” She smoothed some of his hair away from his face. “Now don’t keep that boy waiting any longer.”
Sam pecked her cheek before heading to where Chad was waiting for him. Chad looked really good. He was wearing a fitted button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, showcasing his impressive forearms. He was wearing jeans that were in between tight and baggy, but enough to display his powerful legs. He was fidgeting until he spotted Sam approaching.
“Sammy,” Chad’s eyes widened as he looked him over. “You look good.”
“So do you,” Sam returned the compliment. He still wasn’t used to other males commenting positively on his appearance, but instead of making him feel awkward, it made him feel warm inside.
“Ready to go?”
Sam nodded and they got into Chad’s truck.

As they settled into their seats at the restaurant, Sam started to feel more unease. He and Chad hadn’t spoken since they put in their order. They were just kind of staring at each other. Sam didn’t really know what to say. He’d never been on a date before. It would make Sam feel like it was the worst date ever, except Chad was smiling at him and looking at him as if this was the best thing ever.
Finally Chad broke the silence, “Sam, I…I’m really happy that you came out with me tonight.”
“Me too.”
“Look, I know that Alyssa talked to you about me liking you.” Chad looked at him seriously. “I have for a long time. I just don’t want that to be the reason you’re with me tonight.”
“What do you mean?” Sam was honestly confused.
“I want to know that you’re not here just because you know I like you. I want you to be here because you like me,” Chad was blushing slightly at this point, but his eyes never left Sam’s.
“Chad…” Sam paused, his voice softer and more hesitant than he wanted it to. Chad looked away at that point, his expression giving away his disappointment. “Chad, look at me please.” Chad did as he asked. “I’ve never dated anyone before. I…I guess I wouldn’t have expected to date anyone like you, but I think was caught up in believing stereotypes. Getting to know you better, I like you. I want to try this,” Sam admitted.
Chad smiled a little. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
Chad took his hand over the table, his smile widening.
And after that, the ice was broken and they relaxed with each other.

The drive home was a little nerve wracking for Sam. He was caught up in wondering if Chad was going to kiss him. He expected they would, well, considering that they’d gotten each other off before, he assumed that they would be. Sam wanted to kiss Chad and for a weird few minutes, he had a worry that Chad wouldn’t want to kiss.
It was kind of irrational since Chad had given every indication that he was into Sam during their date, but once the thought entered his head, he couldn’t seem to get it out.
Chad parked the truck in Sam’s driveway and turned to face him. “I had a really great time Sam.”
“Me too.”
Chad brushed Sam’s jaw line with his thumb before leaning in and lightly bringing their lips together. Sam moved closer, parting his lip and returning the kiss. It was warm and soft and nice.
Chad made a soft sound before deepening the kiss. He ran his hands through Sam’s hair as they made out. It was nice, but Sam felt like Chad was holding back. It wasn’t quite like the last time they made out in Chad’s truck. Sam tried to cue Chad into what he wanted by being more forceful, pressing closer and harder and hoping that Chad would give it back to him, but Chad remained restrained.
Sam pulled away.
Chad looked concerned. “Sorry. Did you want to stop?”
“No…I…kiss me harder,” Sam whispered.
Chad looked a little surprised, but quickly got over it, leaning in and kissing Sam the way he wanted. Now that was more like it, Chad’s hands holding him in place, stubble grating against Sam’s face, his teeth on his lip. Chad was kissing him hard enough to bruise and it was fantastic. This is what Sam was looking for, hot and wanting.
When Chad eventually freed Sam’s mouth and began kissing down Sam’s throat, Sam was aroused. His mouth was sensitive and tingling. Chad gave his neck one last kiss and then pulled away.
“You’re mom’s probably waiting up for you,” Chad’s voice sounded wrecked, low and rough.
“Yeah,” Sam replied. He brushed his mouth over Chad’s one last time before he slipped out of the truck.
After making sure he had a good time, Sam’s mom roped him into watching a movie with her, but his thoughts were on Chad more than the movie.

I hope that was okay! I feel a little out of the zone since it’s been so long!
