Part Thirteen

“You again?”

“Are you guys stalking me? Kinky.” Serena winked at the gang as they approached her.

It was almost three in the morning. They were about to give up and sleep outside or in the Chevelle when they happened across a bar. They were in the middle of the dessert and yet cars and motorcycles engulfed the outside of the building. Music spilled from the building, pulsing.

“They better have a decent bed in this place.” Big Kitty rubbed his eyes as he led the gang, plus one, into the bar.

They all froze instantly. Little Kitty mewed on Big Kitty’s shoulder.

“...oh...my...God...” CrimsonMoon covered his face in his hands. “I’m blind!”

“Sweet.” Rain clapped her hands happily, smiling widely.

“Dude.” Nicole placed her hands on her hips and nodded in appreciation.

“Dude.” Rain nodded in agreement.

They had entered a gay bar.

“Let’s find some beds.” They followed Big Kitty to the bartender.

“You guys really aren’t from around here.” The man looked CrimsonMoon up and down. He looked like he was going to have a mental breakdown.

“No, we’re travelling here and there. Do you happen to have any place where we can sleep for the night?”

“Hmmm...there might be a room or two available. Follow me.”

The man led them past the various men on the dance floor. Some looked as if they were having sex rather than dancing. They went up a flight of stairs and were taken down the hall. The bartender opened a door. CrimsonMoon stepped forward, eyes wide, at who he saw in the room.

“What are you guys doing here?

“I would say the food but that would be an obvious lie.”

“We’re here for the ‘drinks’.”

“That is so wrong, I love it!” Rain gave the two a thumbs up.

“Who are they?” An-chan tugged on CrimsonMoon’s sleeve.

“The one with the glasses is Marrick and the one without is Ray. Marrick is a wanderer who would come into the city every now and then. The first time he stopped by, he stayed at the Temple and ever since then, he’s been welcomed. Ray is an actor. I’ve never really been into movies and stuff but Kotori was always a big fan and had a few posters in her room.”

An-chan nodded slightly, thinking to herself. ‘Kotori...I wonder how much she’s been in his thoughts since we started this trip.’

Marrick had an afro the colour fuchsia, a mix of purple and pink. A set of black and white stripped ears stood out from the mass, indicating his Feline genes. His eyes, framed by glasses, were a glowing blue. He wore a complete grey pinstriped suit underneath a beige trench coat. His clothes were a complete contrast to his hair. Around his waist, under the coat, was a black and gold katana with a stylized “X” on the hilt.

Ray had short styled silver hair that shined in the light. His eyes were purple. If those aspects didn’t draw enough attention, his clothes definitely did. He was, simply put, ostentatious in every way; always trying to capture your attention. He wore a poppy red, sleeveless, polo-shirt with all the buttons undone to see his collarbone and some of his chest. His black jeans held a phoenix running the entire length of his left leg in vibrant flame colours. On his right arm was a tattoo of a colourful Chinese dragon starting from the back of his palm and going to the top of his shoulder. And lastly, he wore a black glove on his right hand and a white one on his left. Strapped to his waist were dual silver pistols with silver bayonets and silver blessed ammunition.

“I don’t remember you having that tattoo from the posters.”

“It’s not real.” Rain stepped forward and ran her fingers along his arm. “It’s almost like mine. But mine don’t move on my skin like this.”

“Well, since you seem to know each other, you can room together.” The bartender shoved the rest in and left.

“We’ll deal with this tomorrow. It’s late and I’ve been driving for hours.”

***

“Where are you all headed?”

“They’re on a mission.” Nicole paused and looked thoughtful for a second, stroking her chin for dramatic effect. “And now you two are coming along!” She pointed at them with a smirk. “And aren’t we lucky that Ray drives a vintage 1950’s black sweetness. You can follow along easily. And like the Chevelle, when the car is not in use, it can shrink to model size and put in your pocket for safety.”
