Delwyn didn’t want to wake up. Keeping his eyes closed to try and keep the dreams, he rolled on his side and took whatever was near between his arms and legs. It turned out to be Poppa’s broad arm. Now he really didn’t want to wake up.
Shifting his leg a bit higher, until it was lying on Poppa’s thigh, Delwyn rested his head against a shoulder and tried to fall asleep again. If only Poppa hadn’t woken up, he would’ve succeeded. He returned the kiss lazily, his eyed still closed, and didn’t object when he was rolled on his back. More lovemaking. He so didn’t care if his butt would hurt for a week…
Although the bear took it slow, they came quite quickly, lying between each other’s arms afterwards. “Good morning,” mumbled Poppa against the side of Delwyn’s neck.
Delwyn sighed softly. “Morning…” He finally opened his eyes, looking at his lover with a lazy smile. They were both sweaty, dirty, but Delwyn felt warm and fuzzy and perfectly happy. He never wanted to leave that bed again.
They dozed for another hour, while outside the sun was climbing higher in the bright sky. It was a beautiful day, but they didn’t seem to care. Each other and that bed was all they needed that day.
And coffee.
“Gotta go out for breakfast,” rumbled Poppa without any attempt to move. “Got nothing fresh here.”
“Damn.” Delwyn sighed, cuddling closer against the large body. “What do you have?”
“Dunno. Maybe something in the freezer. Got coffee though…”
“Mh.” Those arms were so comfortable around him. “Who’s gonna make it?” Poppa didn’t answer, and only rumbled a bit when Delwyn looked at him. “Alright,” sighed the blonde. “I’ll make coffee and check your freezer.”
“Just push that corpse at the side.”
Even in his drowsy state, Delwyn understood it was a joke. He patted Poppa’s shoulder, and nodded. “Will do.” Groaning, every muscle in his body sore and stiff, he climbed out of bed and staggered to the stairs.
There was no corpse in the freezer. There were half-baked bread rolls though, so that would do with the canned meat and jam from the larder. Still naked, Delwyn heated the oven and put the kettle on. While he had to wait, he threw open the doors and window’s, to get some fresh air in. It truly was a beautiful day.
“We should swim,” he said when he came upstairs again. “I could do with a fresh dip to clean up.”
“Sounds good.” Poppa rolled on his back and sat up, groaning and blinking. “Jeesh, baby… Where did you get all that from?” His stomach grumbled loudly at the smell of freshly baked bread and coffee. He quickly took the tray on his lap and rubbed his hands together. “Mmm… Looks delicious!”
“I went creative with your corpse. Leave two buns for me, will you? The rest is all yours.” Delwyn climbed back on the dirty sheets and took his mug. First he needed coffee.
Big Poppa wasn’t only a beast in bed. He ate like an animal as well, with content grunts and moans, drinking coffee between bites.
“You should chew your food before you swallow,” said Delwyn. He’d observed the display with interest and amazement. “Then maybe you can taste it…?”
“It’s good,” said Poppa with his mouth full. He swallowed and grinned. “I chew,” he assured. “I just need a lot.”
Maybe not that much, but Delwyn would be the last to tell the man to go on a diet. Poppa looked healthy, despite his built. He ate his two rolls and drank a few cups of black coffee, in the same time Poppa needed to finish the rest of the pot and the whole tray with bread. Apparently, the big man was satisfied when it was all done. He leaned back with a pleased groan, tapping his belly, and smiled.
“De-licious. Mm. You will have to marry me now, of course. No way will I let you go.”
“Of course I will,” Delwyn played along. “Just wait a bit longer and then ask me again, officially.”
“I will.” Big Poppa patted his hand, and put the tray aside. “Swim?”
“You should wait at least an hour after a meal,” sputtered Delwyn. His mother had always warned him for that.
“Yeah, yeah. Then we’ll have another pot of coffee and drink it on the pier. Okay?”
“Better.” Delwyn grabbed one of Poppa’s shirts to wear, going down to make more coffee. The big man followed, wearing shorts, bringing the tray with him. He kissed the side of the boy’s neck and walked out.
“Wow, what a day!” Standing in the sun, Poppa turned to face Delwyn. “Hurry up. You could do with a tan… It’s wonderful today!”
Delwyn followed as quickly as he could, walking barefoot over the pier to Poppa, who was already putting the chairs down. It was a wonderful day indeed. Almost a shame to leave the cabin, and go to work. “A week here would be a good idea…” he suggested innocently.
“It would, wouldn’t it.” Taking his mug from Delwyn, Poppa relaxed in the big chair. “Too bad we can’t.”
“Blah. I don’t want to leave yet… Can’t we have another night here?”
“Sure we can… But then we’ll have to get up real early, to get at the garage in time. Can you manage that?”
Delwyn would be able to manage anything, if that meant they could stay here for another night. “I’m sure I can,” he nodded above his cup. “And then will we plan a week off?”
“We’ll plan the next weekend,” said Poppa. “Not a whole week. We’ll go to the grocery next time so we don’t have to be creative with what I have stored, but we can’t have a week off just like that. I have a deadline at work. And so do you.”
“You’re right, you’re right…” Delwyn sighed indulgently. He didn’t want to think about work yet. But then again, he would be working with Poppa, so it wouldn’t be that bad. Hopefully Mark was over Poppa’s attack… and he was thinking about work after all. Oh well. He wondered how the others would react to his sudden friendship with the big man. They would have to keep their hands to themselves…
“No kissing,” said Poppa, who’d followed his own thoughts and seemed to think about the same. “Bummer.”
“We’ll manage,” smiled Delwyn. “We have the weekend to look forward to.”
“Yes…” This time, Poppa sighed. “Four nights.”
“Four?” Delwyn took his friend’s hand, looking at him. “You want to leave Friday evening?”
“Not a minute later,” grumbled Poppa. “Call your friends and tell them you’re away, because I claim you for the whole weekend.”
Wouldn’t that be something… Delwyn smiled at the thought, and tried to imagine their reactions. They would want to meet Poppa, of course. Sooner or later, he had to introduce him to his friends. He was already looking forward to see their faces. He wondered who would be most shocked, and then how the mechanics would react. If this went alright, they wouldn’t be able to keep it secret for too long…
“Chapman gave me a warning, when I started at work,” mumbled Delwyn.
“What was it?” Poppa sounded sleepy too, still holding his hand.
“No idea, I wasn’t listening. But it had to do with you. I wonder what he said… Since things turned out great after all.”
“I know what he said to the previous guy,” shrugged Poppa. “Something about not looking straight at me and not talking back. He hadn’t listened either.”
“So what happened to him?” Delwyn was surprised, and stared at the big man.
“Peeed his pants and ran off with his tail between his legs. Never saw him anymore.”
“How soon was that?”
“First day.” Poppa let go of Delwyn’s hand, and leaned down to take the coffee pot. “You’re blessed, pretty…”
“Yes…” Delwyn blinked, and gave his cup when the man gestured for it. Apparently, he was blessed. He’d been not just talking back to him, but right now he’d also been gently scolding him about how he ate and about swimming right after breakfast. With the cup, he accepted the soft kiss, feeling a bit stunned.
“Lovely day,” rumbled Poppa, stretching his legs as he relaxed. “Just lovely.”
