Chapter Ten

I picked placed Rain’s weapons and hooked them through my belt then picket her up. Her body was a dead weight in my arms but I carried her until James almost ran into me. He looked at Rain in my arms then at me. Looking back I wonder what he was thinking, the expressions in his eyes puzzle me now, back then I could have read his mind and found out but I just couldn’t bring myself to care, sorrow filled my veins fuelling the fire of rage that burned in my heart. They reached out to take her from my eyes I clung to her “back to camp” I hissed.
“But shouldn’t we...” Blaise started but I silenced her with a glare.
“NOW” I roared and she looked hurt and immediately walked away. James glanced at me which I ignored and followed Blaise back to the camp.
As I reached the village two lines of our assassins stood heads bowed and weapons raised in respect. My team to the left, their tear stained cheeks and pain filled eyes only served to fuel my rage and solidify my determination to destroy the Tigra who’d done this, my revenge gripped me so that I decided not only he would pay but his whole colony would.
Kiterga. His name haunted me, his face and eyes too. That night I dreamt of him. Being one of the leaders and feeling responsible for Rain’s death. Myself and my team combined our powers to encase her body in crystal to preserve her as was custom amongst our people and I hitched a wagon to Havas. We had a small service for our team to say goodbye to our friend, our team mate, my cub.
Alone I made the two week journey to her home. I was welcomed like a hero but when I delivered my news and watched the devastation it caused. The empty pit that Rain’s death had caused was beginning to fill, I recognised the feeling, I was gathering my power to me and I ignored it, as long as it filled the gaping wound in my heart I didn’t care.

That night I meditated, seeking some thing to calm the tide of emotions in side of me, the only thing I would think about was, what if? What if it had been James? What if it had been Bell? Was there any thing I could have done to stop it? Why didn’t she listen to me? I’d gone through these questions in my head through out the entire journey but over the years I would ask them again and again.

I watched as the rituals of my people were carried out over the body and then watched Rain as her body burnt. No tears fell from my eyes that I can remember. I stayed one more day before I said my good byes and I left.

It was he fourth day of my second week travelling when I heard the familiar sounds of battle despite my weary body I road towards the battle.

My team were at battle with out me? I couldn’t understand why they would do this unless it was an emergency. I sprang from Havas’ back and was immediately attacked. I drew my swords and didn’t hesitate to kill the beast that sprang towards me. I felt the sharp thrill of satisfaction as I heard its sharp intact of breath, as I felt its blood run over my hands and as I watched it die, those sharp amber eyes slowly closing never to reopen. I felt my body shudder in anticipation as I joined the fight along side Bell, she looked at me and I nodded.

/Thought you’d have all the fun while I was away/ I said into their minds as I battled, letting them know I was there.
/Kadoria don’t make such serious matters light, we’re not doing this for fun/ James snapped once I would have flinched at his hard tone but Rain’s death changed some thing in me, I didn’t even bat an eye, continued. I could feel panic, hear the tearing of flesh and snapping of bones and smell fear and it excited me, these things, all of these things were the same as that bastard who had killed Rain, they were going to pay for it. I charged slashing with my sword, it was all a blur, my heart was pounding in my chest, I could taste the blood of another, smell it and looking back at it, it frightens me how much I enjoyed it.
