sun was pouring into the living room. Rachel was sitting on the couch smoking a
cigarette. She was on her second one already. Danny, who was laying
on the floor with a towel wrapped around his midsection, didn’t seem to
recognize it as nervousness.

her hand, unlit. He walked back into the living room and started dressing.

the unlit cigarette back into the package and ran to the phone.

while waiting for the person she had called to pick up.

that but the truth was she didn’t like him anymore. He always missed stuff
about her. He hardly remembered any dates and he just didn’t make her happy. He
never bought her anything and never did anything truly romantic. She needed
something stronger, deeper and romantic. But right now she just needed Roger.
