Chapter Ten
She didn’t know where to look. She didn’t want to look at Theo any show of emotion towards him would set her mother off. Alexis could deal with her mothers mood swings but she did not want to subject Theo too it. It would ruin everything.
‘He’s just leaving mum.’
‘No I’m not Alexis!’
Theo was not going to let this woman spoil this moment. Alexis’ mother was a lot worse then expected. She looked hollowed in the face and her skin was ravaged from years of drink and possible drugs. Her clothes were dirty and meant for someone in their teens rather then a forty something.
‘And who are you?’
‘I’m the owner of the car outside, well the renter!’
Theo knew this would change things in a instant. He had already begun to move forward. He was taking a protective stance in front of Alexis. He knew he would have to face her mother at some point if this was going to work between them. But above all he must keep his composure.
‘Oh well, then please won’t you sit down or something. Al have you tidied the living room yet. You still haven’t said Mr….’
‘Di’Angelo, Theo Di’Angelo.’
Alexis was trying to make a move away from Theo but he was having none of it. He puller her back behind him with gentle hands.
‘Well Theo what can I do for you? Al didn’t I just tell you to go clean the living room I will keep Theo here entertained.’
Alexis again made a move. This was why she didn’t want her mother anywhere near Theo. She was a man eater in every way, shape and form. Alexis’ self confidence was so low that she half expected Theo to fall for her mothers charms. She had experience with men, Alexis didn’t. But once again Theo pulled her behind him again.
‘If you don’t mind Miss. Showon myself and Alexi were in the middle of something!’
He felt her stiffen.
‘Actually I do mind. This is my house and I would like to know what you are doing here with Al. If you are looking for some fun then maybe I should tell you that she has no idea what she is doing. I on the other hand would be more then willing to help you.’
Her mother made a move towards him, stretching out one of her hands to his chest. Alexis could feel the tension in him, like he was trying to make a decision about something.
‘It is Alexis I am here too see and I would like some privacy with her if that is ok. We have many things to discuss.’
‘Actually no it is not ok. What could you possibly have to talk to Al about? From the look of the car outside you must be worth quite a bit of money. Why would a beat up, fat lump like Al hold any appeal to you when you could have some lean meat right here?’
‘Very well. If that is the case, Alexis I would like you to pack a few things you are coming with me.’
‘What?’
Both she and her mother spoke at the same time. What did he mean?
‘You are not taking her anywhere.’
‘Ow yes I am. I’m going to take her somewhere she will be loved and cared for and looked after, since it seems you are incapable of being any sort of mother too her. I’m going to give this amazing girl the life she deserves. One where she will be pampered and spoilt. Not used as a slave and a punching bag. You should be ashamed of yourself for letting her live like this while you cheapen yourself through your actions with men. If you knew what a true man was then you would realize you are going about gaining their attention in completely the wrong way.’
No one had ever spoken to her mother like this before and she could tell her mum didn’t like it.
‘Mother I’m so sorry Theo ……’
‘Do not apologies to her you have done nothing wrong. Please go get a few things and we shall be away form here.’
‘But?’
‘Trust me angel!’
He had turned and was gently holding her face in his hands. He was looking directly into her eyes and she could see that he meant what he said. So Alexis left the room and packed a few of her price possessions in a bag and made her way back to the kitchen. Theo and her mother were till at logger heads. Neither were giving an inch and Alexis could tell they had continued their argument while she had been gone.
‘Are you ready?’
‘Yes’
‘Al if you leave this house you share never step foot in it again.’
‘Ok. Bye mum’
With that Theo took her bag and lead her out of the house and into an un know future.
